What lb string do you use? And where did you get the kite string reel?
I’m using a Windbreaker kite reel like this: amzn.to/3G9djsI
The kite line is 200lb braided Dacron but only because that was the line I had on that reel. You don’t need such strong line for this kite. Lightweight line like this would work just fine: amzn.to/40zaOIz
Thanks! I just ordered a 26' octopus kite fory beach trip next month. But it comes with 150 lb string. Just getting into kitting, and all the information I can get is very helpful. Thank you for your reply back and help.
@@averyblanton301 150lb string is perfect for this kite too. Better to be a little on the stronger side anyway. Happy flying! 🪁
She does tug. And she is a great dancer. I took her out for a pre Halloween flight tied to one of those Amazon "professional" kite winders (the wheel type). I didn't realize how quickly the combined forces of the dancing motion and the pull of the wind were wearing down the nylon kite line. iIt actually frayed the line at the point where it feeds in/out of the reel in a matter of minutes.
I thought i looked so cool on the beach with that badass giant skeleton dancing in the sky. This was in Manasquan, NJ.', on October 30... there werent howrds of sunbathers but I would say there were a couple hundred folks strolling on the beach walk and at least 30-40 surfers in the water. I'm telling you every face of every person or every age on land and on water was looking up at this skeleton gettin down up in the sky. The whole town was smiling, I kid you not.. It's very unique design and its also huge which makes her a a real crowd pleaser.
Until that heart wrenching moment when the line snapped and she danced her way right into the chilly Atlantic. There was a collective gasp, and all of those once joyful faces shifted their gaze upon me, the guy holding a neon colored kite winder without a kite attach ed. Nothing about this kite floats in water. By the time i dashed back with my oxean kayak she was completely lost at sea.She crashed into 20 feet of water and although I could see straight fo the bottom, my favorite (and very expensive) kite was gone. Not only was it a bummer but also embarrassing. Soul crushing embarrassment. Keep in mind, I'm a grown man flying a kite.
As you must have gathered if you're still reading, this episode scarred me for life. I cant bring myself to buy a replacement. I wish GoFund
me was more popular back then because maybe this story wouldn't have such a sad ending.

I have the 21 ft. Pirate Skeleton! Looks great in the sky and very fun to launch. However, it's kind of a pain to setup.
Yeah setup takes a little, but it’s worth the effort to watch it dance around.
Can the kite fly without the body? Be cool to see the head only. 💀 ☠️ 💀
