Hey Beasty. Just wanted to let you know how much I love your videos and stream. I started to follow you just before AoE4 was released and you still played some SC2 but I definitely follow you for your personality and gameplay regardless of the game you play. Thanks for sharing your opinion for my favorite civ and your build orders helped me a lot. Always looking forward to the next one. Have a good one 😄
For most levels of gameplay, HRE in team games, especially where most people arnt doing a ton of feudal pushing, can be very strong. Very easy to poach 4-6 relics in big games which supports a ton of gold income and helps avoid exposure on trade or resource contests. Chapel + farms in late game = almost infinite food. If you can get to Imperial and have transitioned to farms, you can basically just print units, and their MMA are pretty decent against most unit types. Paired with siege, its good. MMA trade well with alot of heavy units. I find that in longer team games where 50-60% of the game is in Imperial, HRE can just simply out produce alot of civs, especially as gold resources become limited and/or trade gets disrupted. I also find that if you rush Castle and get MMA into the eco/base of most other civs by 10-11 mins, they rarely have units to counter strong armored units. 6-10 MMA before someone has gone to castle (outside of Zhugnu) can be a big issue for someone in fuel to handle. I struggle w/ them in 1v1. Feudal pushes are just not easily defendable, and naked castle rushing is dangerous in 1v1. You get caught in feudal too long, your innate advantages of a castle rushing civ just fall away and you get overwhelmed quickly.
A lot of civs have sustainable gold eco that is not dependent on trade, such as free units, tac, farm gold, etc. But HRE, if you don't secure relics and get the age up with more gold, then it's gg
Chapel becomes a drop off point and generates resources per minute based on how many resources have been dropped off to it. So once all the resources have been exhausted around it and its not worth running to, it still holds some passive income value lategame.
@@duckbeakdog8843 well, chikorita is worse in Johto games but that's because of the game design, stat wise and stuff it's not worse its just due to gym types that it is
I think memework should have the anti-heavy mace upgrade available in feudal which will allow it to counter civs going castle and to a lesser extent knights too 😊
Isn't this a great idea for the man at arms? "Roman legions used an extreme type of shield wall called a testudo formation that covered front, sides and above. In this formation, the outside ranks formed a dense vertical shield wall and inside ranks held shields over their heads, thus forming a tortoise-like defense, well-protected from missile weapons" [Source: wiki]
HRE is not the actual Roman empire. The HRE was a loose collection of medieval German states, who called themselves the Holy Roman Empire for some reason.
Hre is good if you get more than 10 sheeps fast, theres a build in 3v3 and 4v4 to reach castle age min 11/12, from there you switc to farms and abuse with man at arms, its really a good civ imo if you get used to it
@@romegypt5675 wouldnt maces, the upgrade that increases dmg to armored, quite litterally only change the knigth matchup ? maybe other early men at arms but who goes early men at arms or men at arms vs hre in general
HRE need a real good ranged unit or a ranged archer unit to make it more balanced. Total War2 got it right: Hand Gunner with strong armor& Rider with crossbow/pistol.
Im I the only one who thinks the devs shouldnt touch HRE? feel like they are neither strong nor weak. If they would do anything it should be to buff meinwerk and maybe nerf palace of swabia(spelling?).
New military units perhaps?? Still the only civ (along with OOTD which is expensive HRE) with *one* unique military unit. It's fucking stupid how fucked over HRE has been.
@@ned8896 Yes but they are already strong enough with maybe the three strongest landmarks in the game. Aachen, regnitz and palace of swabia which is ultra strong. With a good Aachen spawn between two tree lines there is also the possibility to go pure Archer in feudal, which nobody does, since you will have more wood than any other civ in the game.
@@IskoJakobsson Fine, nerf the landmarks. In return HRE get Teutonic knights, Holy paladins (because why not?) Crusaders, Black riders, Ritterbrúders, Dragoons and Inquisitors.

@JoseLeybaDiaz lol 😆 so having additional sources of Gold is only for noobs?

You build farms around it and surplus food for gold.
HRE is the Chikorita of AoE4 starter civ

HRE is pretty good in castle/imp. The problem is getting there without taking damage or dying. I think in lower leagues HRE is fine, easy to play.
