No one's been at the clear bottom for 4 years for a while though. Players are going winless for seasons which impacts their development and attitude. LDU looks checked out. We got pumped by 7 goals by the 17th placed teams. We refused to draft tall key position players and have ruderless leadership. At this point, we have to parachute 35 year old players or retirees in just to uphold standards. Are we having the hardest conversations about list management? About the people who got us here?
Well said. This rebuild can't be likened to others, because we've already been in the doldrums for an extraordinarily long time. Decisions made by people at the club going back to 2016 have left us freezing our arses off in the North Pole, whilst everyone else in the comp lives it up in Ibiza. I thought it was turning after the first couple of weeks last year but I realise now that I was very much mistaken. After winning an utterly pathetic 10 of our last 90 games, there is still no light at the end of the tunnel. Some serious conversations need to be had, and some serious shifts in mentality need to occur
Just some figures for your info everyone is bagging North how bad they are for the record from 1990 2020 North have the third best win loss ratio and who is number 1 ? West Coast Carlton 5 Collingwood at number 9 Melbourne 13 and Richmond 14 how quick things can change four years rebuilding and everyone’s forgot the good times, we were down the bottom until the 70s and built our way up we can do it again.

Clarko hasn't been here for long enough to blame him for the past 5 years. Poor recruiting, lack of development in our players isn't his fault. In hindsight it was always going to get worse before it got better. List changes had to be made last season.
Sure, but he brought in Tucker, Logue, Fisher, Pink, Biggy and Stephens. None of those guys look up to it. He was there when Corr was appointed to the leadership group. It’s not super encouraging.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for Clarko and Todd for taking the time to do this. It's actually really reassuring to hear acknowledgement of the issues they're currently facing at the club AND what they are doing to fix it. It's going to be tough but we need to be patient as supporters. Hopefully the players can show more and more effort each week and play like they care and want to improve.
I’m glad they did it too but didn’t find it all that reassuring. When Roosy and Peter Jackson took over at Melbourne they articulated a clear plan. I still don’t see it here other than playing young guys and hoping for the best.

Clarkson has lost it. When do you ever see the passion he had at Hawthorn. He is clearly just coaching so he can cashout. The club should work out a mutual settlement and get rid of. He is not the man to develop this list. It frustrates me that every week he makes excuses for how young the side is. We smashed Gold Coast at the end of the season last year and they have gone past us by miles this year. Hardwick still has the hardness to drive the team, Clarkson does not. McDonald should be dropped and Simpkin needs to be played only inside midfield. Jye's form is due to being played out of position a lot of the time. The Capatins should be changed immediately. Sheezel should take over the Captaincy and Wardlaw and Larkey should be vice captains. Lastly Clarkson is responsible for the team not trying. The team is not trying at times and it's costing us many goals each game. There is no reason for players not putting in effort, that all comes down the coaching staff.
Don't destroy Sheezel by making him Captain too early. Even Wayne Carey was 21, but he was more like Reid in his leadership style. Sheezel seems more like Pendlebury, who was 25 when he was made captain and therefore had earned the respect of his more senior players. As good as he is, Sheezel is still very much in a learning phase - let him focus on learning and become even better. If we hive him that ultimate position of responsibility too early, we curtail his football development in desperation for leadership.
Who should coach us then mate? Last 2 blokes worked out so well now you want a 4 time premiership coach out the door after 18 months inheriting the worst AFL list known to man.
