Isner's backhand picked up out of nowhere in that match. He hit some bullet-like backhands in the second set, which he is not really known for. Good stuff from the big man!
Who is making these highlights and keeps making mistakes on the editing? This video, the semifinal one and the kitzbuhel finals ones all contained out of order points or repeated points. Come on guys
I was at this game, and the sportsmanship between these two is amazing. They are two really talented tennis players, and Nakashima has much more trophies to come. Congratulations to John Isner.
Definitely adding Nakashima to my list of players to watch. He's still got a ways to go, but showing this much potential at 19 he, along with Korda, could have a legitimate chance of breaking into the top tier if his game continues to progress. Hopefully he can manage to get over that hump in a way that Fritz and Tiafoe haven't been able to, because tennis (at least to US fans) becomes a lot more exciting when there's one or more US players with a legitimate shot to win the big tournaments.
Agreed. Fritz, Tiafoe, Opelka, Paul are all extremely talented but unfortunately complacent. None of them have any fire and drive to compete against the top players on the biggest stages the same way Isner or Roddick did. That’s why Korda and Nak are very promising because aside from the great tennis they seem more driven to win
@@caliscribe2120 That's sort of like saying Serbia's men as a group have been the best in the world... but yes, I was referring to the men. And that proves my point, because I'm willing to bet that more Americans know who Serena is than Djokovic. Any truly international sports, having an American (especially a charismatic one) at or near the top drives interest and actually gets the sport mentioned through constant barrage of NBA and NFL garbage.
Nakashima has a very solid game. Strong off both wings on the baseline which frustrates his opponents since they don’t know which side to target. Has a solid serve, return, increasing confidence with each win, and plays with good tactics. Movement can be worked on but with an optimum height at 6’1 and still growing, this kid has a lot of potential.
@@John-nk3ej he’s playing with a lot of confidence. And for a young guy like him, that’s only going to fuel that fire. He probably relishes playing on the big stages now
Ya, that was some great editing. Felt like I basically watched the Match. Brandon had him but Isner didn't blink Never seen him play so hungry. Backhand looked solid!
@@monstermichaeltoad5705 yh even in USO 2015, when Fed was playing some good tennis, hefaced Isner. in the 4thround,and. won 7-6 7-6 7-5, a very tight match.
I predicted that back in their juniors, Nakashima, Korda, Jenson Brooksby, Martin Damm, and Govind Nanda would go big one day. Nakashima has a very strong backhand and fixed his forehand and has now made 2 ATP finals in 2 tournaments back-to-back. Top 100 incoming.
Thanks for NOT having the winner on the thumbnail for a change. A great improvement. The element of surprise is thus intact for those of us who watch these videos without knowing the result in advance.
Losing back to back finals hurts but nakashima is future star of America along side Korda. He also maybe one of the rare Americans who are not servbots.
Gotta feel for Nakashima , 20 yrs old , outside top 100 , losing 2 finals in 2 weeks must be really heartbreaking. But definitely he would have gained a lot from these tournaments too..
Nakashima has a promising future. Glad that Isner pulled this off. Not bad for a 36 year old. 16 single titles. He’s had a great career but I think his moment was when he won the Miami Open against Zverev.
Nakashima can produce great shots, but lately his game has shown some gaps. First, it's too predictable. Second, he's too afraid to approach the net. Third, he needs to incorporate drop shots. That's why he appears to be working really hard on the court, but smart.
Great match here...just wondering if anyone knows why John has difficulty chasing balls down, or chooses not to? Could be his age, or it could be his size, though Medvedev among others is big and quick...
Lots of respect for Big John, still out there competing and winning at 36.
he moved SO well with his height!!
Karlovic played till 40. These guys only need to serve and need one extra point in tiebreak, that's it.

He has improved his backhand a lot. You can see him hitting winners from that side pretty often.

Lovly guy john isner is. Has followed him on The tour for many years. Nice to see him still winning titles in his age.
The highlights of the second set, Nakashima serving at 4-5 are a mess. Points are out of order.
No, they traveled back in time to play those point in reverse order. It was by design

Is it sad that the Atlanta Open has longer highlights than all of the grand slams highlight videos?
cause its tennis tv instead of the grand slam's yt channel

Isner has been really impressing me with his return of serve this tournament. Hope he continues to press his opponents with it.
Love Nakashima's clean striking and technique. One of the cleanest double handed bhs and the white pure strike really enhances it.
Happy for John Isner. He's a good bloke.
congrats to John Isner for making istory 6 title for the amazing Isner nice match he deserve the win and celebration

Nakashima and Korda have actually inspired hope for US tennis. Been a fan of Korda since Delray and this starts my belief in Nakashima as well.

Why is the recording quality so poor? Can't they afford high def cameras in Atlanta?
