I have the Coach Tabby and the hardware is shit compared to luxury brands, I prefer to save up and buy a designer bag than spend +400 euros again for something that will scratch up after a few months
yeah Coach is great. I think a lot of people hate on coach just because its made in Vietnam for cheaper labor and Asian cows. Just because its Asian doesn't mean its less quality than european products.
@@allyhvis6046 Literally none of my designer bags have scratched hardware even after heavy use, including LV, YSL, Givenchy. I understand that’s they are in a different price range but a Coach bag for 400 euros for me is too much to pay for something that doesn’t last. If you’re on a budget even Zara and Mango make bags with a better price/quality ratio.
Coach is actually great in terms of its presentation when the logos are not plastered all over the bag. The logos make it tacky (but I guess some people use that to show that they have certain amount of wealth)
This was a well constructed bag, I have a collection of coach bags as old as 27 years and not one has torn or faded and the hardware is top notch, well constructed bags, I have even washed some in a pillow case and it didn’t fall apart, others I use their cleaner to clean.
I’d definitely want to see some deconstruction of factory bags since I have a good collection of both main store and factory bags. Curious if the factory bags really are as “bad” in terms of quality and construction as people make them out to be.
@@kiyo287 I personally feel like designer outlet leather goods are generally still pretty decent quality. If it’s a brand with a reputation to protect, they’re not going to give you an inferior product, but they will have to make up the cost difference somehow by cutting corner’s somewhere. That said, I’ve purchased outlet Kate Spade, outlet Coach, and outlet Burberry and never felt like it was a ripoff. Clothing on the other hand is more obvious. I see as a hobby so I’m aware of the differences. The fiber content is usually synthetic vs natural fibers, the stitching is usually not so great or they use a longer stitch length which can lead to ripped seams faster. The material may be thinner or something. Honestly, even at full price stores, I’ve noticed brands try really hard to keep the price point low despite inflation so instead they use thinner materials. My Jcrew cashmere sweater from 15 years ago was a lot thicker than what I now own. Yet the price point has largely remained the same. I’d rather have the option to pay more for the same quality material. A lot of factory stores also reuse past designs for the factory line and that saves them money by not having to pay designers to make new products. I’ve also noticed in clothing they take shortcuts by redesigning a full price store design into something that requires fewer steps (maybe fewer design features or less functionality). These are cost saving methods. I don’t buy a lot of outlet leather goods to be as confident in my assessment as I am with clothing but I truly think that a good brand with an image to maintain won’t allow inferior work be displayed on their shelves. But they’re probably sourcing cheaper leather hides, scaling back on a design feature, finding ways to simplify the construction of the bag or wallet, and simply repurposing existing designs. All ways to save money without necessarily producing an inferior product. Enjoy your goodies! I love my outlet Burberry wallet and honestly I think it’s better than anything they sell in their full price retail stores.
I love your videos! I adore my Pillow Tabby bag and it was fascinating learning about the inner workings and construction about this bag. I’m curious about how other similar mid range luxury brands like, Tory Burch compares. And high end luxury brands too, of course. Please keep on making videos! They are wonderful.
I love my Pillow Tabby bag also, mine is a larger size. The puffy design is what drew me in. Seeing it deconstructed gave me a little sadness, but I love seeing how things work/are made, so the sadness was quickly erased!

I have this in gold and I love it! I've seen their vintage gold bags in antique shops and the metallic is still intact in every one I've seen. Crazy but makes me feel better about how it'll age.
This is awesome. I’m about to start getting into leather bag design and videos like this are SUPER helpful considering I could never justify doing this myself. Thank you!!!
I love Coach so much! I have vintage bags, boutique bags and outlet ones. Quality is amazing, especially of those bags which come from main stores. The interesting thing is that my 2014 Miu Miu bag has almost the same leather as my 2019 Coach bag. And quality of Coach bag overall seems to be better. Also lately Coach has so many nice designs! Having kept my eye on the Pillow Tabby for a long time, interesting review! I would also ask you to review Pinko bags. I like the brand, the quality of leather seems to be good, they are durable and good-looking. Thanks!
The fact that the coach story tag isn’t made of real leather really bothers me and I don’t even buy luxury purses. You think they’d want the tag to be the expensive stuff to prove their point. I’d love to see a deconstruction & thoughts on Michael Kors & Luis Vuitton. I’d also like to hear your thoughts on which luxury brand you think makes the best quality pieces, even if none of them make stuff worth the outrageous prices they sell for.
Not sure when they changed the story tag. I have a bag from 2003 that has an actual real leather story tag in it. Coach shouldn’t cut corners at all especially when some of the new bags are $500 and up.
Lol. I know I keep coming back to add more comments, but i can't help myself. I've been sewing for 45 years and details are a big deal, to me. I pay attention to stitching and hardware. Coach probably has some od the highest quality hardware I've seen, and they use high quality, STRONG thread for the stitching, and the stitching is flawless.
The very reason why I only their love vintage ones where the leather is full-grain cowhide and the creed is stamped on the leather. I've watched your review on the Station bag and hope you can review their Madison collection released in the 90s made in Italy. Cheers!
This one hurt, I love these bags and seeing it torn apart is 😣 lol I have one of these in apple red and they sometimes rip at the flap stress point (where it bends when the top is opened). Thanks to you I have a newfound respect for Coach's leather goods. I would purchase one now, but I think they have "learnt" from LV and some products have that plastickey feel to them.
Hey, how about Michael Kors bags - I like the Hamilton Legacy Large Leather Belted Satchel. They are on sale now for about 250 EUR. The price seems OK to me if the materials are quality. I would really like to know. Thank you.
Hello Tanner Leatherstein. I have a question, what about Moroccan or Chinese leather bags from local artisans? The leather is more raw and quite thick. Does that mean it's lesser quality if the leather is thick?
Great video! So much information , thank you for making these video. I wish you make YSL puffer and Miu Miu Metalasse bags. Their leather feels so nice and soft.
Such an insightful deconstruction and analysis. Awesome. Would you pls do the hardware quality check on Louis Vuitton clutches as well? All my clutches suffer with the same problem where the little golden closure button starts to fade and turns almost white.
Watching the deconstruction gives a whole new perspective. This channel is a treasure trove of practical information.
Omg me too.
I have felt for a while that Coach quality favorably compares to many higher tier brands. Nice to have my belief in their quality validated. Thanks.

I agree. It's a weird flex to be like "I'm solidly middle class."
That's my gripe with coach

Ugh it hurts my heart when you cut them, but it's so informative that I forgive you 😪💔
Thanks to you I have a newfound respect for Coach's leather goods. I would purchase one now, but I think they have "learnt" from LV and some products have that plastickey feel to them.
Would you please do a review on Coach Quilted Tabby? 🙏
Hey, how about Michael Kors bags - I like the Hamilton Legacy Large Leather Belted Satchel. They are on sale now for about 250 EUR. The price seems OK to me if the materials are quality. I would really like to know. Thank you.
Can you please compare outlet bag and original store bags quality?
I don't quite understand what you are doing with the acetone... Can someone explain.
Scrutiny! Educational, interesting, and sooo satisfying. 😜
Hello Tanner Leatherstein. I have a question, what about Moroccan or Chinese leather bags from local artisans? The leather is more raw and quite thick. Does that mean it's lesser quality if the leather is thick?
What do you do with the bag scraps? they are a good size for small crafts!
Do you resell the hardware to aspiring handbag repairers?
Great video! So much information , thank you for making these video. I wish you make YSL puffer and Miu Miu Metalasse bags. Their leather feels so nice and soft.
Such an insightful deconstruction and analysis. Awesome. Would you pls do the hardware quality check on Louis Vuitton clutches as well? All my clutches suffer with the same problem where the little golden closure button starts to fade and turns almost white.
I like these videos, it shows if you are really getting value for the money you are paying.
Great video! What was the thickness of the leather used?
I love your video. I want to see if maria oliver handbags are worth it or not?
