Wait, what about home assistant? Do I need the hub?

@@nagyba I think so...I don't use home assistant but I think it connects to devices via Wifi so you will need the Hub

You are the first reviewer who didn’t forget to mention the hub

    Great first look/install video, thanks!
I hope you are planning to do a comparison between the Switchbot and Nuki (size, noise, functionality, apps, google/amazon/apple/homeassistant integrations) :)
Those seem to be the best(?) bolt-on locks, though they won't look all that nice on the door.
Ideally (to me) it should be a fully integrated lock, though that raises even further the compatibility issues (and price!).

Yes...currently planning a Nuki vs Switchbot Lock Pro video which should be out early May...I also have a UA-cam short planned specifically comparing the difference in noise (spoiler...the Switchbot is quieter)

More user available? Only 1 Person ( device ) can Lock unlock?

    • @MarksTechVlogs
      @MarksTechVlogs  5 місяців тому

No, you can add other people to your home in the Switchbot app so multiple people can unlock. You can also add it to third party apps because it's matter compatible so mine is in my Apple Home app.
I've also got the keypad/fingerprint scanner to try which let's you use NFC cards, 100 fingerprints and 100 key codes (Review for that coming soon!)

I'm so confused. Mine only came with one mounting bracket. :/

Which country are you in? From various videos the accessories vary depending on your location

@@MarksTechVlogs I’m in Australia. But I’m not sure where the lock was sourced from.

Ah, I’m guessing they only include one in Australia…maybe to do with lock types

@@MarksTechVlogs which isn’t that helpful if I need the other mounting plate. There’s also a video on their official UA-cam for an adjustment plate but no mention of where or how to get it. It’s all incredibly confusing. I just want to install the device.

I’d drop switchbot support a message as I’m sure they’ll send one out. I think they even have a WhatsApp support which they usually reply pretty quickly to

For the mounting bracket B, could you please tell me what size the screw holes are that allow it to stick to the lock? I'm assuming they're m6 with a distance of 38mm as is typical, but i wanted to make sure, and i can't seem to find anything on their manuals. Thank you for your content 🙏

I have no idea…they’re the same as the Nuki ones I think. I reckon if you email or message switchbot directly they’ll know, they’re always pretty helpful

Thank you for the early review. Any mention of upcoming Apple Homekey support?

Thanks, my in depth review is coming next Wednesday. There is no mention of home key support or even if this is being explored by Switchbot. I think Apple are still pretty strict about home key requirements but it’ll be interesting to see how it blends with matter support in the current months/years…I’m hoping Apple will mention it at WWDC in June
