After going through my first son's procedure, I decided to never do it to any male child of mine again. His experience was similar and was traumatic for both of us. I immediately regretted it. The only reason I did it in the first place was because his pediatrician at the time claimed there was something wrong with him because she couldn't retract him at his first post-hospital visit (later found out you should never even attempt to retract until they are YEARS older- he had a perfectly normal intact part she just didn't know how to handle male children properly if they weren't cut upon birth in the hospital). The only blessing is that while his was considered "botched" by other Doctors (he still retained a good portion instead of a full removal, so you can't tell it was done in the first place), he is now 19 and fully healthy, hygienic, normal and happy. As is his little brother. I am so sorry your little guy and you had such an experience.

Ugh. That sounds horrific, I'm so sorry 😔 When my son was born, they did the procedure with an anesthetic block. I have no idea why on Earth they would think some stupid cream would be okay.

This is unacceptable. Poor Theo & mom & dad
We usual give a whiff of sedation. But done with nurses. Parents stay outside. Quicker & not traumatic for anyone ❤

Wow! Theo's experience is something to consider. 🤔 No way am I an expert, but I'm wondering if a plastic surgeon would be a better option... The males in our family had this done in the hospital. But that was the way back then. Glad that you and Henry had a lunch date!!! ❤❤❤

We had it done originally in the hospital when he was born, but there was a complication so we had to go to a urologist to get it fixed.

@AlyssaHalaseh Yes, that can happen. One of my brothers had a "clean-up" procedure later with a urologist. That's when the urologist mentioned that a plastic surgeon would have been a better choice initially. But my bro is fine, and I'm obviously never going to ask how he feels about the results...😶

geeezz that sounds like it was traumatizing ...i had my 2 boys procedures done in the hospital after they were born but that was back in 2003 and 2005 ...and just in those 2 years they did things so different ...my first son they did in the hospital with just numbing shots (not sure what else cream wise or not b/c no one but the doctor was present doing the procedure ...and everything was fine after ... my second son was anesthetized and all the creams and numbing shots but they gave him an iv and he slept and again no one was present during the procedure but the doctor and my son was fine too ...personally its going to be traumatizing to see them do that to ur baby and i think thats why they do it after they are born and away from the parents eyes ... thats not right to put the parents through that ...i would look into that doctor just in case ...sounds kinda sketch ...but thank goodness ur babes is ok poor little guy ...side note ...i guess thats the first thing men have to endure during their life if their parents have it done and then us girls have to have a "monthly " when we hit puberty lol i dunno who gets the better deal here lol guys probably b/c they get to never remember it loll ...anyways thought i would share that little info with u and wish u a beautiful Christmas and bright new year !!!
