Bu.....er I've been just reminded of why i miss my vtwin vstrom.1050xt and 650 loverly soooonds they make awell ....onwards n upwards on my voge DS525x a cracking bike for backroads and motorways ....cracking familiar roads... brill stuff folks....ps my gran was a distant relative to hannah....teesdale cannyness regarding 😉😉😂 I can say that as born n bred in next valley weardale...atb
My wife and I have ridden our motorbikes over those roads many times, we live near Durham , so the area is pretty much on our doorstep. The tight turns on the Stang are particularly enjoyable, plus, the chippie in Hawes is well recommended as is the cafe opposite.
Couldn’t make them out clearly, but the birds that ran across the road were probably grouse, though they might have been hen pheasants. Lots of grouse on those hills, and they don't seem to be spooked by traffic. A route you could have taken and one I can recommend is to go from Reeth to Healaugh, then turn left and go over the hill into Askrigg and on to Hawes. Real "middle of nowhere" stuff. 😊
