"I can't live my life over again, but I can give you these lessons so you don't have to learn them the hard way." This hit me so hard and had goosebumps after hearing this.
Seems strange that so many people are on Quora asking for financial advice and following wealthy people but here is channel with wisdom yet only 67K Subscribers. Glad to have been recommended your video by UA-cam algorithm.
your channel is the new breed of amazing channels ACTUALLY involved with startups and founding succesful companies. Hopefully youtubes algorithm prioritizes you guys instead of self help gurus like Tony Robbins, Gary Vee and Tai Lopez over the next few years.
I always feel I have 2 people inside of me: the weakest version of myself and the strongest version. Both are constantly battling. The goal is to only feed the strong version, so that it can win the fight and hopefully get rid of the weakness for good
Just recently found your channel. I’ve been doing a TON of work on myself in this area and you very much helped me organize my thoughts around which self/mind is talking (in my head) at any given point in time. THANK YOU!!!
Great video, Garry. I recently levelled up from three to four after launching my own UX design business (Shibumi Digital Experiences). It's a fantastic feeling. It's that moment you realise you can make your own way in life - when you no longer have to compromise on your dreams. A friend of mine who studied this at Cambridge University tells me that the emotional transition period between levels is known as a "liminal state". Kegan's Ladder is very similar to the work of Abraham Maslow who coined the Hierarchy of Needs in 1943, which, funnily, I reference a lot when designing user experiences!
I remember watching that Adam Curtis doc and feeling like that particular part was highly relevant but not being able to articulate it. You've done it wonderfully here. Thank you Garry, this channel is a goldmine.
I have found your channel at the right time. This time, I need to fight with myself because of social need inside me. Glad I could learn from your voice.
If you can be integrated, and aware at your individual conscious level, then you can integrate your team into a powerful, resolute, super organism that can build incredible products and services. That's what it takes to make something bigger than any of ourselves. When leaders do this, we are greater than the sum of our parts. - Garry Tran Thank you for this wisdom.
In the past years i wondered what my biggest lifegoal was. Money started to become an importand topic, especially as I thought that personal freedom is what I really want. But seeing this video in combination with other great sources, I tend to understand it is simple my desire to reach stage 5 and simply flow through life. I guess my big quest is to find out how to get there. Thank you very much for the video and for all the powerfull insights you share!
This was timely, thanks for the candor and sharing your story. Two reads I would recommend if you (or anyone) are interested in psychology are "Thinking, Fast and Slow" by Daniel Kahneman and "G.E.B" by Douglas Hofstadter (
I saved this gold video to watch it every morning when i'm in the battle of control between my two people inside me the one who want to achieve something vs the one who just want the comfort. Please keep this kind of videos in this topic. You're the best Garry
Hey Garry, Thanks for this amazing video. Have you ever tried Cognitive Behavior Therapy? It’s really wrapped around the concept of our inner child, inner adult, inner critic, and “copings”. Many of them are always debating inside. And CBT helps you to learn how to detect those different voices and understand their roots. Also, concept of inner maps is awesome. This CBT therapy helps me to “blitzscale” the company and make right decisions when I don’t know how I want to behave. Thanks again for this video❤️
Gary, thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience to help others, much appreciated. I’d ask not to include Ads during the video. I always concentrate on the content, what you are saying, and in the middle, I get distracted by ads. Then I need to rewind 15 secs to follow the content again. If ads are mandatory, maybe you could add them at the beginning and end? Many thanks for all your effort to help others. Best. M.
This is something that I have told my Psychriatic Coach and I was told this is Bipolar Disorder. Thanks a lot for clarifying things out Gary. Was really helpful. Highly appreciate it. Best. - Tan
THANK YOU GARRY Now I know what's been bugging me, when it comes to a couple of things And now I know, what stage I am on, and what I should do I'll make sure to rewatch this video, probably many times
I feel like learning things the hard way, is the only way to learn something properly - otherwise, I never manage to appreciate the nuances of a lesson. But watching this definitely adds perspective on the multiple conversations happening in my head. Great video!
Hi Garry, I do have the same issue and I talked to a friend about it a few days ago. So, the timing of this video is impeccable! I have noticed that the leaders we admire have this conviction about their ideas which might even resemble blind faith. Like you, I always keep on debating pros and cons of everything for too long which often leads my team confused as well. How can I improve this?
Regarding "Stage 3", there is actually an interesting book covering how we act based on the social influence of others. It is called Invisible Influence by Jonah Berger
your words resonate with me and are very similar to the damage control tips and tricks I received in therapy. All that to say thank you, from the bottom of my heart, you talk game and you play an even bigger one, it feels so inspiring instead of the typical screw 9 to 5 jobs and playing lambo make-believe.
AWESOME video!!! Absolutely love talking about the weirdness of the brain and reality and how that relates to everyday lives. Thanks for making this video and exposing more folks to the truth of our nature.
Thank you Garry, an absolute essential video. My journey through life takes years to grasp certain concept or lessons, but through your library of videos, I found many pertinent lessons from you compacted into digestible bits I can watch and rewatch. You are so awesome! Thank you ❤️
Hey Gary, Thanks for this video! What video clip is the sequence at the beginning of your video from? The woman throwing something onto the screen. I've seen it before, but can't remember its source... Best, Alexander
Gary, I’ve enjoyed many of your videos but this one was truly special! Would love to see more of this type of content that integrates aspects of psychology and philosophy. 🙌🏽
It's good to learn from other peoples mistakes, but sometimes the greatest lesson is learnt from your own mistakes 🥳 Thank you for this lesson, it was very useful 💪
I see myself fighting between the 3rd and 4th stage and it is really sad to see how paralyzed we are from fear of others reactions and judgements. We know what must be done but are afraid of rejection/bad reactions.
thank you so so much for this great video and fantastic inputs! its mind boggling how much thinking and mindset-shifting can come from these sub 15 videos of yours
Thanks, Garry for this insightful content! I am currently studying how to correct a failing team and one of the toughest parts is understanding how each team member is thinking and what motivates them in their careers and lives. Do you find it hard to motivate a team in achieving a specific goal? If you are managing a startup that has 6 months to live financially, how could you convince the team to do their best under tough circumstances?
Thank you Gary! This was very helpful and seems like it translates to healthier family unit development as well as team building as a leader. From the inside out.
Thank you Gary! I notice if I’m true to myself or not by the pitch of my voice. But I was not thinking to take an action about it the moment I notice it.
Garry, love your videos, unfortunately just discovered you yesterday but I'm looking at this as glass half full. I would highly suggest you to try Ayahuasca and Wachuma.
Thanks for the update on the different facets of the mind that battle to getther "for or against 'before a consice decision is made or a conclusion is reached. ..I made up my mind on one of the many things I want to start.. just this morning. So help me God!.
Hi Gary I really love what you are doing here, and I would like to contribute to spread your message in any possible way. I totally got you and I see your deep authentic spirit in helping others. If you have the chance let me know where I can get in touch with you and see how I can learn and support you for free. That’s would be great. Take care and stay strong 💪🏼
Interesting.... psychology 😋🌏🐾🐨♥️ this video is gold.. I am a psychologist... And this information is amazing for a startup... For live.. Thank you!! Cheers, from Colombia
I recently read Spencer Johnson's "Peaks and Valleys" I wonder if this "behavioral fluctuation system" has to do with the archetypes we identify with ourselves. Great video Garry!
Garry your amazing and love watching your videos and making time for them. Hopefully one day i can do what you do and create a great team to come up with new designs and products.
Hey Garry, when you mentioned that "hiring well helped" while you were confused on how to overcome stage 3, how did you manage to identify the qualities needed in the people you hired? was it intuitive or you had identified a process for that?
I think we need to have honest conversations with ourselves, and try to understand ourselves better. Ask why did I made this choice? Why didn't I do that? One who asks the correct questions is the one who gets forward in life.
Garry and Naval are some of the best youtubers. They share from their own experience and learning. What a time to be alive.
Who's Naval?
@@goodbrainwork Naval Ravikant, a man who makes you great
