Looks good, Alan! That's exactly how I water my blackberries in raised beds, my banana plants and my grape vines. I've even added the fertilizer injector from Hoss to add water soluble fertilizer to the plants.
Absolutely!
Running a fertilizer injector on this system is a breeze.
In fact, you just reminded me… I need to do that soon 😊
Those little shut off valves are handy! I need to put a filter on my mist system at my secret garden. You have a nice setup. Tell Hoss to give you more mailbox money. You just about have me convinced to buy from them
Hahaha... Will do!
Thanks 👍
One lesson I have learned is to set up my cages/trellises and irrigation when we plant. So much easier than having to push foliage aside to do it later.
Very true!
👍🏻😎
Looks really good. Great timing for me as I need to set mine up now. Really like those individual container shut off valves.
Glad I could help
Thank you so much for this information. I have been wanting to do this for years but am quite frankly intimidated. I may have to give a small section of my garden a go and see if I like it. I have a feeling once I get started I will love it. Many thanks and blessings ♥
You can do it!
Thanks I just got some from Walmart haven't gotten to put them in. Was gonna this week but we had rain finally so I can't complain try again on the weekend
Glad I could help
Great job!
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing 🙏 😎 🏝 🏖
Thanks for watching!
Good explanation. I use a filter and pressure reducer on city water. Cable tie on the fill tube so the 1/4 inch feet line tube is healdand slipped under the cable tie
Thanks for sharing
I am adding indivigual shut off valves to my 5 gallon wicking tubs per your example.
You’ll be glad you did.
Hope your cleanup is going well.
It is!
Time-consuming and expensive. I am going to have to hire some very large equipment to do what needs to be done.
Insurance… I think… is coming through for most of it.
And it’s such a wonderful time here in Texas to be working outside😜
Thanks Alan, great info!! One question I have , how many emitters do you have running off that timer at a time?
Almost 30 emitters… Plus the drip tubing. There’s probably 20 feet of drip tubing also on that timer.
@@BIGALTXThanks Alan!!!
Thanks for thre great video. Do you use the liquid fertilizer attachment to fertilize your plants? I use Lens masterblend for my wicking tubs; I was curious how a fertilizer setup works and how good it is?
Yes I do!
The fertilizer, injector saves a lot of time and effort. I really like using it.
I’ve got some videos on that. If you will go to my channel and search “fertilizer injector“ you can see how it works.
@@BIGALTX perfect. Thanks
This setup would work perfect for my 40 earthboxes.
But I "thought" there was an issue with water pressure to the last boxes on the rows if this isn't designed as a loop. Do you not run into that problem?
I never have.
I think this system would work even with 40 earth boxes.
I’ve got about 30 of these emitters plus that string of drip tape… About 30 feet of that. Seems to have plenty of volume and pressure.
You might want to increase your main line to three-quarter inch to provide moree volume, but I’ve never found it to be a problem.
Is your main line 1/2 or did you have to go to 3/4 to service the whole area at once? From my research, I forget the number, but there was a limit to the number of emitters you could put on a half inch line which was something like less than 10.
I’ve always use 1/2”mainline. I have never used 3/4”.
On this system there are about 30 emitters, plus about 20 feet of drip line. Never seems to be a problem with water volume.
How common are these drip system lines and drip line spickets fail or fall apart or break? I'm undecided between drip system or making one from PVC..
Also why are parts 1/2 inch and 1/4 inch size??
I normally use them multiple years. However, yes… They will fail. But they are so very cheap. I don’t mind replacing them.
The 1/2” mainline supplies water throughout the system. The 1/4” line taps into the half inch line to service the individual boxes. Hope that makes sense.
