I've dealt with similar shenanigans in Georgia on public lands. Having people poach deer via spotlighting from a truck, capturing footage of poachers on trail camera, and having people unload from an AR in my and a buddy's direction are all part of the GA public land bingo card.
Best of luck afield this season. Don't let the 2 legged animals sour your time afield in God's country.

It’s a shame that these issues happen. It really strikes a chord of anger. But one day I believe there will be a solution to help counter that. I wish you a successful hunting season as well in the beautiful country God has created for us. 🦌 🤙. Thank you

Great video outlining some of the negatives of hunting Public land. I had the same problem with my cameras. I now mount them up the tree using my climbing sticks to make it a little more difficult for someone to mess with. The WMA’s that I hunt don’t have the pressure like Three Lakes, however the guys ride around to see where all the local hunters hunt so they don’t have to put in the time scouting. Very frustrating.

Thank you. I’m not trying discourage people from hunting public land. Just wanted to share the truths about it. I would like to hunt a new WMA with less pressure. I like scouting. People want the easy way to deer lol. I’ll be hanging my cameras as high as I can, well a detectable height lol. Good luck hunting this upcoming year

Same to you. I am fortunate as I have 2 WMA minutes from the house. Very light pressure as everything around them are hunting clubs. When I lived in Central Florida Three Lakes was my go to spot. Moved to North Florida and discovered just how nice public land hunting could be without the sun coming up and having 3 hunters in trees around me. 😂

I’m going to Gainesville with my wife in February. I was going to try and maybe take a look around. I want to move to North Florida. That’s funny but so true lol.
Well if you know any WMA or want to share privately I would be interested. Not your spots though 😂😂

First buck I ever killed was at 3 lake and I took the largest gobbler from that place(last time I checked) about 22 lbs. I haven't hunted there in over 20 years. WMA hunting has it's issues that's for sure. They have security boxes for cameras, you might want to invest in some. Thanks for the video stay enthusiastic.

All legitimate issues AND not specific to 3 Lakes.wma. I've hunted several wma' s and now concentrate on muzzleloader and archery hunts - less pressure. Also, some have less roads ( rougher terrain) which deters closed road driving. Btw-I use Muddy cameras - python cable locks the SD compartment! Sadly, the negatives are just part of public land hunting.

    • @Floridaoutdoorschannel
      @Floridaoutdoorschannel  8 місяців тому

Thanks for that. I agree with Archery having less pressure. I currently use cable locks but will have to find Cams suitable lol. Dang those people who touch what’s not there’s 😂. Good luck hunting this upcoming season 🦌

I'm going into my third year of hunting. At 18 years old I have much to learn. I've hunted private land up in Indiana. With being an osceola county native I've spent the last 8 months doing research on public land hunting here. I drew an archery quota for three lakes and I went scouting and set up a camera. I saw roads where there's foot traffic only with atv tracks and three ladder stands that were hung up. I'm a bit nervous that being a young and solo hunter I may have a bad encounter with other hunters. However I am highly confident that I'll get a deer down during the quota. Best of luck to everyone!

@@YourTypicalRaysFan Your young. You will continue to learn about hunting on Public land. Unfortunately there will be people who don’t follow the rules. Please don’t let them discourage you. But that’s why we need to speak up. When you see something say something. Try to avoid any confrontation at all cost. It’s not worth it. Hunt and scout as much as you can. Observe as much as you can when in the woods. Good luck on your Quota. A patient hunter is a successful hunter 🦌 Stay safe.

@@FloridaoutdoorschannelYes sir thank you. I actually went out scouting yesterday which is where I saw the tire tracks and tree stands. It was my first time ever out there but I found all kinds of fresh buck sign. I appreciate the kinds words and damn I'm excited for the upcoming season!

@@Floridaoutdoorschannelwell this is my update as of 8/26. I've gone out a few times to check my cams. Lots of does, hogs, and even cattle. A few weeks ago I had two guys come by and they were covering their faces. In effort to hopefully locate some bucks moved my camera about 50 yards to the right where there was a tree that had been freshly rubbed every time I had gone out to check my cams. Unfortunately, both SD cards from my trail camera have been wiped except for pictures of nothing. These guys were dumb enough to save three pictures that clearly showed that the camera positioning had been moved... And there were four pictures between the two that had been deleted. To say the least, I relocated both cameras. If they still find them and delete the pictures, I will scout a new area. It kish sucks that I've had cameras at that spot for almost two months and then all of a sudden these guys come along and delete my pictures. Worst part, they set up a cell cam a few cards away from my cameras. It just sucks that people have to do that. I've put in a lot of time and effort into learning how to hunt Florida public land and these guys aren't helping. It's my woods just as much as it is anybody else's that's going to hunt there. But some respect would be nice. I turned down three spots my first time out scouting there because I found cameras or climbers. Just wish other people had the same respect. Sorry for the rant but the last two trips have completely wiped all of my confidence.

I’m sorry to hear this. I can’t stand that people have to touch other people’s belongings. Unfortunately two years ago I had this happen to me in two different areas. I saw the sign but my cameras had not a single picture on them. Actually they took the sd card from one for about a week then brought it back 😂. Really dude. Sometimes I want to sit that spot but people are cray cray. When I scout I look for people sign as much as I look for game sign. I will advise to lock up all your stuff when you leave it in the woods. It’s not 100% steal proof but it slows the process down. Do not let those people discourage you. Get back to the scouting grind. Check off your the places you been and find a new one. I want to hear you got a buck this year. 🦌 I’ll pray those people don’t get a deer after messing with your stuff. 🤙 have a blessed hunting season 🦌

I thought it was just me. LOL. Been in Florida almost 10 years. Maybe 2 years ago, I thought I would try to get some public land hunting in. A little different than what I am use to but hey, I was willing to try. Where I am from, EVERYONE has to enter and exit the main gate. PERIOD! Just thought I would throw that in there first. Ok, so the first day I go, I'm about to walk into my stand, I see a guy crossing the road, he stops and fires at a deer. I turn around, head back to my truck and leave. I go back a week later, and theres guys walking around with no orange on, hunting. They see me in the tree. They hand gesture as to say, "We're sorry", then commence to walk right across in front of me. Smh. The last one was bad, but I won't get into that and what I was called and how it could have went so wrong. But yeah. It's tough....no respect for the other hunters. Not use to that.

Man i hunted three lakes last year and i saw beheaded hogs on the road on two separate occasions and four wheelers driving up n down the roads even on week days. Ever since 2020 this place has been over crowded and with people continuously posting about it theres no hope of it getting any better. I said screw it and went to green swamp and it wad loaded with bucks n hogs. Me n my dad pulled two of the biggest bucks ive ever seen in my life there. It seems as if every ahole that was screwin up green swamp is screwin up three lakes. My buddy said someone at three lakes aimed their rifle at them. Smh i pray for Gods land 🙏🏻

It is very unfortunate how people are absolutely disrespectful. I plan on hunting another WMA. Last year I had the most disrespectful hunter encounters and seen more people just driving wherever they please. I had side by side galore on my trail cameras 😂. I saw a post from a friend who shared the hunter having a rifle pointed at him. I’m glad you and dad found some hunting grounds. Three lakes will continue to get hammered for many reasons. To many people, to long of an open hunting seasons, off road driving, etc. Anywho I hope yall have a successful hunting season 🤙

@Floridaoutdoorschannel Every wma has its negatives, even the air force ranges are package with hunters. Last year, I think they had 580 hunters, which is a ton for the small area. It is real nice tho, if I lived closer or had more time for hunting i'd hunt there. Good luck finding a new wma.
