I am convinced that whoever Rosie ate...fully deserved it. Seriously though, when you really look at the eyes between her and Alastor you can really see the difference. Rosie displayed legitimate sincerity and actually listened to Charlie, Alastor...even when he speaks pretty words you can tell by his half-lidden eyes and sharp brows that he does not care, it is a front. So to see both Rosie and Carmilla two overlords being actually sincere with Charlie and Vaggie is a really good way to show the complexities of people. You can do terrible shit but still keep empathy towards those in similar situations.
Alastor is not all bad. He’s a very, VERY complicated character. In episode 8 it’s shown clearly that Alastor did not want to die for his friends…but does he really think that deep down? The fact that he calls them his friends without realizing it shows enough. He doesn’t WANT to care, but even if he doesn’t know it yet, he does, and I’m sure that will come into play in Season 2.

I like how nice Cannibal Town is... for some reason. Maybe the whole Cannibal thing is a sort of defense mechanism to lets them build this little haven in hell. Any one making problems... just eat them.
I'm kind of getting an Antebellum South vibe - "be polite and gracious toward your neighbors, while treating like utter shit whichever group you've decided it's OK to treat like shit". So the cannibals are nice to fellow Cannibal Town residents (and to honored guests), while treating people outside the town like cattle.
My guess is that they're more like scavengers, eat dead people. It's been stated that if a Sinner gets shot in the head by something that does not come from heaven, they will eventually heal and wake up again. But the process is very painful. So while they are dead, a Cannibal can eat their body before it reforms. When a Sinner's body is gone, like burned to ash or something, they will respawn somewhere in Hell.
My theory about Canibal Town is that it's made up of mostly people who participated in survival cannibalism (including the kids). Most of them probably only ate people to begin with out of necessity, but heaven wouldn't care about that.
I like how Charlie is more annoyed about the fact Vaggie didn’t tell her the truth rather than the fact she’s an angel. It would be a bit juvenile, even for Charlie, if after everything Charlie just went “oop youre an angel, immediately untrustworthy”
What I really love is that some of the villains aren't bad guys. Rosie was kind and thoughtful, yet an unrepentant cannibal. Carmella is an overlord too, arms dealer and more but protected her kids, seems to be romantically involved or at worst a genuine friendship with Zestial, and taught Vaggie to fight (and in so doing, helped her get over a hurdle)
If your adversary thinks they are invulnerable and immortal. Imagine that moment when they realise they are not. When they are holding their own guts in their hands. That could be the breaking point for them.
Fun fact: I could be wrong on this but I’m pretty sure one of the cannibals holding Charlie up when they’re marching is the same one Vaggie spared as a child. The orange hair and hat at least match
I really like that the "angels", like you said, fight with no fear of being hurt, no fear for their loved ones which means they fight for crualty, to see the demons suffer And on the other hands, the "demons" fight with and for love ❤
From outside material we know Allister has a whole thing about wanting to see people grow strong and takes issues with certain types of behavior that prevents that growth (ie. preying on the weak). I think he also has an issue with neglectful parents and doesn't like being ignored which is probably why he picked the fight with Lucifer.
I looove Camilla's Spanish musical flair, be it the guitar at the start of "Respectless", the castañets during her initial chat with Vaggie, or even Out For Love that sounds very alike to gitan-inspired pop music like Kendji Jirac...
I think one of my favorite things about Hazbin Hotel is how interesting and amazing the Overlords are. Carmella, Rosie, Zestial, The Vees, ofc Alastor, they're all just so interesting (Tho Carmella n Rosie r up there for me)
I think Alastor is so hard to figure out because of his narcissistic behaviour. I think he cares about Charlie and the hotel, but only in the context that it's an extension of himself. Whatever his ultimate plans are, he's been Charlie's right hand in running this hotel for months now, so he's attached personal pride and ego to it. It comes off like caring about her as a person, but ultimately it's about him and what he accomplishes through her. That's why I think he's so freaked out after the battle - he put on this big display in front of Adam, because he views the hotel as HIS and Adam as a personal threat to his ego. Almost dying for the hotel made him face that attachment he didn't even realise he was forming.
It might be a psychological thing, trauma from the injury and not wanting to hurt the person she came to love. These last few episodes show there are plenty of things angels don’t know about themselves and what heaven is all about.
Her wings weren't cut off with the angelic weapons, so the theory is that angels and demons can regenerate anything not damaged by those which is neat. And yeah, Rosie is such a great character
Alastor's wording of that deal was really scary. "One favor, at a time of my choosing, where you harm no one." Or "One favor at a time, of my choosing, where you harm no one." In other words, Charlie must obey Alastor's orders one at a time whenever he asks as long as she harms no one. Or worse! When Charlie is not harming anyone, she must obey Alastor. (Edit: I wrote the comma in the same place in both examples and misspelled. Corrected.)
No it is"One favor, at a time of my choosing, where you harm no one" Singular favor, redeemable anytime. Only condition is that Charlie must not harm anyone
@@TheCaliMack And you know that's the specific interpretation how? As I explained, the wording was very subjective. Just shifting the comma changes it drastically.
The Vaggie Angel theory, I thought was not gonna happen so I was surprised. The reason was the eye and the weapon made it too obvious. I thought it'd be more surprising for her not to be an Angel.
The spear, the refusal to think you can be harmed, the compassion for the ones in hell, more and more convinced Ultrakill is a prequel to Hazbin Hotel (I’m drawing a comparison between Vaggie and Gabriel
I was hoping Carmilla would be revealed as another fallen angel like Lucifer and Vaggie. She might still be revealed to be one later. It is curious how Carmilla has so many angelic weapons available to help Charlie because if no other angels died during the exterminations, how does Carmilla have so many of their weapons? Unless she's a former weaponsmith for Heaven who had a change of heart crafting weapons meant to kill mortal souls.
since the angels think they are invincible they dont really care about the weapons they discard during an exorcism so all the weapons carmilla has picked up over the years are being put to use now
I have a theory that Vaggie's current backstory was a change they made after the pilot, and before that the plan was for her to be revealed as one of Carmilla's daughters. So the duet and duel they have are nods to that scrapped storyline I would love to see them get more interaction in season 2, maybe even take on a sort of adoptive mother-child relationship
Allister screwed himself by adding the not harm anyone in his deal with charlie. charlie can argue anything she does will hurt someone when he tries to collect
These last two episodes were awesome!!! I’m with you in wanting to see a bit of good in Alastor! I know he is playing his own game but I can’t help but feel he also has these little bits of good in him. It’s probably just me hoping too much lol
It’s not just you, I agree. I believe Alastor soul is changing now, once he started spending time with everyone in the Hotel, he started to feel his humanity again ☝️🥺❤️
I think Alastor's endgame is to kill Lucifer and with the deal he made with Charlie ask her to relinquish her seat on the throne of hell to him. He probably thinks being the ruler of hell can make whatever deal he made nullified. The deal having "no one being harm" leads me to believe it's a power play.
I honestly kind of hope that Alistor never softens up or becomes redeemed, since I kind of like him more as the manipulative villain behind the scenes. I hope he'll be the ultimate villain of the series. I think I have a thought for what kind of "favor" he's saving up for through his deal with Charlie but I'll wait until next episode to elaborate on it.
I can't say the thought doesn't have appeal, and I know people are tired of seeing this, but honestly I do hope he softens up by the end, I'm a sucker for redeeming (seemingly unredeemable) villains. Plus the whole concept is that everyone is capable of redemption, so it would fit in with the theme, but it could also be a bittersweet thing if he's the only one that doesn't. Though in my opinion we already have a couple villains who fit the unredeemable role, like Valentino, Vox, (maybe Velvette) and Lute. Tbh I could see Vox be a surprise redemption, Lute too tho I wouldn't like it, Val is kinda the only one I can't see changing for the better.
I can see him being built up to be an ultimate villain once his shackles are off, perhaps even seasons from now. (Doesnt mean he wouldn’t somewhat care for things here n there, just that he’ll ultimately choose to serve his own desires, disregarding those of others’)
@@LoreCatan Velvette is probably the only redeemable Vee and i only say that given she doesn't seem as implicit as the other two with using their labor force as Val's toys to play with and murder whenever he gets angry. Alastor really doesn't have a chance for redemption. He's a serial killer who hasn't changed since coming to hell. right now his interests align with charlie's but if they didn't there would be lots of bloodshed. SPOILERS for ep 8 BELOW he even says in the next episode that he merely wants to have his wings unclipped and be free to run everything himself, likely as a proxy for Charlie should she take the throne.
@@LoreCatan Thanks for the well-written response! Alistor is among my favorite characters in the show. I sort of see "anyone can be redeemed" in the same light as the saying "anyone can cook" in Ratatouille. I.e. it's technically true, but it's something that'll take a lot of work and not everyone will have what it takes to go down that path. Anyone can be redeemed, but not everyone will be redeemed. However, a redeemed person can come from any place. I think what makes it hard for me personally to see Alistor as someone who would earn redemption is that, to my understanding, his lore says that he was a cannibal serial killer in life. I feel that this ought to be addressed if the show was to give him a redemption arc...though if they wanted to go down that route then I'd not be mad at all, it would tie into interesting themes of what IS redemption, like would sincerely caring for another person or making a selfless sacrifice be more meaningful for the fate of your soul, than having been killing and eating people? I'm not sure he'd thrive in Heaven though. To me - from the ending of "Stayed Gone" - he comes off as kind of a...charismatic, calculating agent of chaos. Someone who wants to topple the dominoes and watch the world burn. And his bit in "Finale", to me, sounds like his hand was being forced when it came to him putting his life on the line, which might imply that he doesn't actually care about the hotel. Even though I personally feel that he'd be more fitting as a manipulative villain I'm just...really looking forward to season 2 and I'll be there with whatever they decide to do with the character.
@LoreCatan I mean, Valentino is irresistible and ALASTOR isn't? They do the same with their souls. They are bloodthirsty and see others as tools. Just because ALASTOR has more charisma doesn't make him better than Val
Fun fact when Rosie said you’re an ace in the hole that and Alistair didn’t know what that meant is because he think that was never brought up in his time when he died
Alastor wants Charlie to live up to her full potential as heiress to the throne of Hell so she'll have the power to free him from whoever has him on a chain..That's the favor he'll call in "at a later date of his choosing".
It's funny how everyone has the same "Oh god, I don't know about this," reaction to Alastor finally talking Charlie into a deal. 😅 He's such an enjoyable character but even the legions of fans like me who call him their favourite know that he's not trustworthy. But I do understand why Charlie gave in; I just hope he won't screw her over tol badly when he calls in that favour.
Some cool people who voice characters in Helluva Boss: - Alex Brightman - James Monroe Iglehart (the Genie in the original broadway cast, also Zestial in episode 3 of Hazbin) - Richard Horvitz (Billy from Billy & Mandy, Zim from Invader Zim) - Brandon Rogers (well-known comedy UA-camr, also the voice of Katie Killjoy (the news lady) in Hazbin (not the pilot)) - Erika Lindbeck (cartoon and videogame VA, has done _a lot_) - Maxwell Atoms (as additional voices, creator of Billy & Mandy)
I love a good rousing song, especially one with a dose of parody or comedy. Charlie's song here joins the likes of "Tomorrow Night" from the South Park movie and "Today We Rise" from Galavant among my favorites!
Charlie: I’m just as bad as the cruelest overlord in hell maybe even worse! *Alastor slowly coming into the scene because he is* 😂 Edit: at the same time is it just me or does Alastor steal the show every episode somehow

Vivzie wouldnt want to stop fans from shipping Alastor
I was hoping Carmilla would be revealed as another fallen angel like Lucifer and Vaggie. She might still be revealed to be one later.
It is curious how Carmilla has so many angelic weapons available to help Charlie because if no other angels died during the exterminations, how does Carmilla have so many of their weapons? Unless she's a former weaponsmith for Heaven who had a change of heart crafting weapons meant to kill mortal souls.
I just assumed the weapons were left behind in the corpses and stuff
the angels just seem to chuck them around with careless abandon
since the angels think they are invincible they dont really care about the weapons they discard during an exorcism so all the weapons carmilla has picked up over the years are being put to use now
I have a theory that Vaggie's current backstory was a change they made after the pilot, and before that the plan was for her to be revealed as one of Carmilla's daughters. So the duet and duel they have are nods to that scrapped storyline
I would love to see them get more interaction in season 2, maybe even take on a sort of adoptive mother-child relationship
Oh also Alex plays a character in Viviane's other show "Helluva Boss" the character is Fizzarolli.
It cracks me up that cam has giant hands then just kicks the shit out of people instead 🤣
17:07 awwwww it's so nice of them
Allister screwed himself by adding the not harm anyone in his deal with charlie. charlie can argue anything she does will hurt someone when he tries to collect
Alex Brightman has a tertiary role in Helluva Boss.
Tertiary? Excuuussseee me? He's secondary at worst! 😂
@@IceMetalPunkTertiary in the first season, but yes, in the second season he is secondary at worst:D
I LOVE ROSIE!!!
Just watched it, and I can't believe everything that was revealed 😩
SPOILERS for ep 8 BELOW
he even says in the next episode that he merely wants to have his wings unclipped and be free to run everything himself, likely as a proxy for Charlie should she take the throne.
14:37 „like eating people“ 😂😂😂
Alastor wants Charlie to live up to her full potential as heiress to the throne of Hell so she'll have the power to free him from whoever has him on a chain..That's the favor he'll call in "at a later date of his choosing".
I agree with this ☝️🤔
You should be described as the awwwwwwwwhh guy man😄
I just love that Charlies dad is a fallen angel, then she falls in love with an angel her self
I literally thought camilla had horns lol turns out it was just her hair style
I want more alastor and rosie moments. I want to know more about their friendship!
Same 😊❤️
6:11 that frame alone speaks volumes about Alastor.😁☠️
Charlie's gonna regret that deal with Alastor
I wonder how the other demons will react when they discover that an angel has been living amongst them.
Yall notice how most of the songs by the morningstar family resemble alot of the songs from the greatest showman
8:34 it took me 4 real watches to get that joke
That was a Joke ?

Rosie says alastor in an ACE In the hole
@@Ajax6116j Nice 🙂
Oh right
It's funny how everyone has the same "Oh god, I don't know about this," reaction to Alastor finally talking Charlie into a deal. 😅 He's such an enjoyable character but even the legions of fans like me who call him their favourite know that he's not trustworthy. But I do understand why Charlie gave in; I just hope he won't screw her over tol badly when he calls in that favour.
Auntie Rosie for the win!
Let's be real. Everyone needs an Auntie Rosie.
"I'm just kiddin'! I know you're an ace in the hole!"
"I'm a *what, now?"*
Now that's a whole different meaning on steel toed shoes
no one:
Me: SHE MADE A DEAL, OH GOD. AAAH-
As yall can see I over-react a lot 😌👍 so just ignore it 😁
Some cool people who voice characters in Helluva Boss:
- Alex Brightman
- James Monroe Iglehart (the Genie in the original broadway cast, also Zestial in episode 3 of Hazbin)
- Richard Horvitz (Billy from Billy & Mandy, Zim from Invader Zim)
- Brandon Rogers (well-known comedy UA-camr, also the voice of Katie Killjoy (the news lady) in Hazbin (not the pilot))
- Erika Lindbeck (cartoon and videogame VA, has done _a lot_)
- Maxwell Atoms (as additional voices, creator of Billy & Mandy)
The person who plays the voice of Adam actually plays the voice of sir pensious and fizzarolli from helluva boss
Man I love this dudes stuff
At 4:30 did you notice that Charlie was on Vaggie's side of the bed
It's funny you mention BeetleJuice, when the scene with the fingers as snacks was almost absolutely identical to stuff they showed in the cartoons
Wowwwww now that Alister owns 2 souls ( Charlie & Husk ) they have to be more careful in the future
Are u stupid?
He doesn't own Charlie's soul. She just owes him a favor
Omg that duet tho🔥🔥
I love a good rousing song, especially one with a dose of parody or comedy. Charlie's song here joins the likes of "Tomorrow Night" from the South Park movie and "Today We Rise" from Galavant among my favorites!
Keep up the great work I love your vids❤
Ace in the hole
Ace Joke 🤣🤣😂😂
Charlie: I’m just as bad as the cruelest overlord in hell maybe even worse!
*Alastor slowly coming into the scene because he is* 😂
Edit: at the same time is it just me or does Alastor steal the show every episode somehow
This have been a pretty hard week to wait for this. I'm glad it was resolved in the end. Even though the deal worries me.
From what Zombie Movies/TV shows have shown me, a bunch of mindless Cannibals are threatening, but mindful Cannibals are a force of nature in the right place.
