- Welcome! These musical clips are from a large video collection that is now being converted from VHS/Beta to digital. There is some viewing quality loss from the original video source due to the age of the tapes, but the performances are preserved and still a joy to view. I'm finding many lost performances from vintage R&B, Soul, Pop, Broadway, Cabaret and other performances. This channel will be the Ed Sullivan channel for the digital generation, something for everyone to enjoy. Marilyn is one of my favorite singers, but this song is definitely a man's voice song and Gordon is the best could sing it.

i performed this at a songwriters showcase it was a big night for me a freind martha pillow asked could she join me on guitar and vocals she nalied it !!! we sounded as good as this clip i then after playing gords songs got to interview him after a cocncert !!! ive had many songs recorded over the years this to me is the ballad of a lifetime!

This is an all-time favorite of mine and have loved it since I was a little kid...... So, about 1972 or so?
I never saw this video before today (2023) and absolutely love it! Marilyn nails it! Her inflection is so perfect that it improves the melody without taking over and being obnoxious. I'm stunned how great they sound here. It's like she's using her voice as playing a guitar here and it's brilliant!
She deserves to be recognized as one of the greats....and is by those who know.
my mom was at this show !!martha saved we had a great open mic at the rudyard kipling on 4th and oak we had guitar pulls id learn james taylor from one guy and maybe cat stevens from someone else but martha gee taught me the lightfoot the right way fingerstyle!!

martha knew the song on guitar and my guitar fit perfectly style wise it was magic she did the ghost harmony that is hard to hear on gords album it was cahty smith singing
