Dada, I like that heavy and oily aftertaste of Japanese whiskeys.. Rockford - Sweet, Cask, Tingy, Ummm moments for aftertaste.
Oaksmith - Smooth, Smoke, Oily, Caske, Ummmmmmmmm moments of aftertaste. Best tasted neat.. I relocated from Australia to Kolkata in Dec 2019 after 12years and the first whiskey I tasted was Rockford and the second was Oaksmith. Touched my heart!

Dada, i liked both of them, depends on the mood and accompanying food!
Food pairing with oaksmith is difficult considering sweet nature of the whiskey.
I found Rockford more easy going with our indian snacks like tandoori chicken, bhujia, badam etc
Oaksmith also goes well with intense spicy food. Most of the weekends I do that.
Maybe it depends on person to person

Oaksmith Gold has 2 manufacturers/bottlers in India and each version smell and taste quite different. I did not like the one manufactured/bottled in Karnataka. Its alcoholic smell and taste overpowers all other flavors. It will be great if you can mention where the reviewed Oaksmith Gold was manufactured. I think the one you are reviewing is manufactured and bottled in Delhi. This one is the better one!!

Oaksmith Gold is unique as it's a blend of Japanese, American and Scotch whiskeys, albeit it's still a bit raw/harsh as it's not aged whiskey. (Hence the low price)
Rockford Reserve still has a long way to go in terms of quality product development. Many Indian brands such as John Paul, Amruth Fusion, Woodburns, Koday's Peterscot Black have done before, and if Modi Illva can do the same at a lower price point, then they have a winner.
Unfortunately, Rockford Reserve falls short on that count, but it's a great attempt.

My Choice Is Oaksmith Gold 🥃
My feeling is that if they continue to keep the Whiskey in supply and don't tinker with the quality and blend. In the Long Run Oaksmith will be the most sought after whiskey in India in the comparable price range and I feel it can be India's JD.
As Ive been to parties where people after blind tasting Oaksmith have left drinking the Black Lables and single malts in their hands and made this whiskey as their next drink.
You all should try a blind taste with your friends to see this in realtime!

The superlative best is used only when more than two or a large number of articles are considered for comparison.
