  • In late summer, the Bayerische Staatsorchester (Bavarian State Orchestra) made a stop in its home city of Munich during its extended tour to celebrate its 500th anniversary. Performing in front of around 10,000 visitors amidst an idyllic picnic atmosphere at the renowned Munich Marstallplatz, the orchestra graced the popular and highly regarded OPER FÜR ALLE (Opera for All) event hosted by the Bayerische Staatsoper (Bavarian State Opera). This annual classical music highlight, open to all and free of charge, drew in music enthusiasts.
With the aid of an L-Acoustics L-ISA audio system, the technical department of the Bavarian State Opera showcased the incredible potential of sound, surpassing the confines of conventional stereo sound reinforcement. Their goal was to provide the best possible auditory experience for the music-loving audience. Tonmeister Carsten Kümmel, alongside L-Acoustics employees Thomas Mehlhorn (Application Support Engineer) and Rahul Samuel (Application Project Engineer), provided firsthand insights to EventElevator on their seamless operation of the future-oriented L-ISA system, perfectly tailored for classical music applications.
Under the musical direction of Vladimir Jurowski, another standout moment was the performance by soloist Yefim Bronfman. In 2023, the program featured Robert Schumann's "Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 54", and Richard Strauss's "Eine Alpensinfonie, Op. 64," resonating throughout the city.
The technical service provider for the Bayerische Staatsoper on site was session pro.

@Carsten if you read this - you have talked before about setting up an array of point source speakers for orchestral monitoring in acoustically challenging spaces. I cant see that here. I can see two side fills but that's it. Have you thought about using something like Soundscape for orchestral monitoring? Bringing in delay panning on stage I think would really benefit the players in their monitoring...

I do that in monitoring actually, when I have the time and/or a monitor engineer. I try to simulate the first reflections as they are in a real concert hall. Thanks for your interest
