    Thank you so much for this talk, it clears up much of the confusion on what we learn in academic institutions these days. I could say almost all approaches nowadays are based on materialist philosophy.

    Great talk thank you!
    For those who are inspired to look further into it, Dr Nader Saeidi has talks under the name ‘Text and Context’ of the Baha’i central figures… 11 talks on YT. The last 2 are related to this topic.

    As long as all these prejudices exist, the Struggle for Existence remains dominant.

    I agree with your point that there’s traditional way of viewing spiritual matters and material matters, but what hs happened, to express our identity now, is that politics has replaced the church. And materialistic attitudes are much better fitting with political values than anything we have experienced before. This is happening, I think, in my friends Russian community as well as in the West.

  • @Edo9River

    I agree that both communities, my Japanese-Bahai community, and my Russian roommates community, extoll the word and idea of freedom, S well as other social values. But there is a divergence in our meanings.

    Doesn’t experience confirm logical necessity regarding physical nature? This is a way to conserve mental energy. If we are always viewing the miraculous events from even brushing our teeth, that we will be mentally exhausted in about an hour. Thus preserving our sanity we must depend on dealing with so much of daily life’s routines by a worker through habituation. Unless, possibly we look at our roles during our prime production years as a role meant for habituation generally speaking, until we reach some point that we can retire.

  • @Edo9River

    If habituation is. Common sense for our existence in daily life why should we imagine that we can escape from this characteristic of reality?. . c

    What shared experience can I use to illustrate that “everything” is subject to the Will of God?

    I wonder if you can get me an answer to this question. With everything acting in accordance with God's Will, where does free will come in (determinism vs. free will)?

    • @purelythemusic
      @purelythemusic Рік тому

      I would say every effect of human endeavour is a result of the Primal Will/Nature and the Free Will of human/s. The physical existence is predominantly determinded, human beings can influence it and themselves and realise it’s potentiality in civilisation.
      This is too brief and incomplete but might inspire some ideas 😂

    What is the motivation to move on from logical necessity to volition necessity?

  • @Edo9River
    @Edo9River 2 роки тому

    I think that philosophy can offer a neutral perspective in order for someone who’s never really experienced an alternative, Bahai perspective. I am trying to uncover a more practical situation that I can share with someone who has grown up in a very different political environment. I don’t use the words “logical necessity” or “volitional necessity” describing whatever shared daily concerns e tween my Russian friend and my American experiences. So I have to create a translation to a more familiar language.

    Right now we are seeing in the Ukraine war, a reaffirmation of identity to a territory, to a culture, to a legacy of history. Because another group of people is currently trying to compel “us” ( if you identify with the underdog) to merge our identity, or erase our identity, our history. If the prejudice is clinging to this sort of identity, what protection does identifying ourselves with mankind provide? As one part of this kind is seeking to eliminate or conquer another part of the same kind.

    If I suggest to Average Joe to find God through service to mankind, through working in some NGO, for example, and IF Average Joe doesn't necessarily see man as "inherently noble" or as a spiritual beings in all of the Bahai sense of the word; Suppose Average Joe sees his work in an NGO as just helping the less fortunate, Does this necessarily block him from finding God?

    • @charlottekey8856
      @charlottekey8856 Рік тому +1

      Joe should find other work than in an NGO. They are not what they were supposed to be, sort of like the UN. Far, far from it.

    As I am trying to anticipate the arguments of someone who isn’t outside this way of thinking. The vocabulary of labeling a way of thinking that appears to be justified, appears to be an advantage, appears to be a virtue,as a “prejudice” ,; this is just another value judgement, an opinion. A burden, an expression of disrespect for the coping skills of that person.
