Yeah for sure, I think songs like Out of the silent planet, Dream Of Mirrors , Nomad was a bit different as well when this album came out. One of my absolute fav albums though and it was such a powerful album to come out as the first album with the reunion. For me at least there is not that many of the Maiden albums where I really like most of the songs if not all on the album.
Except Brave New World I would say Somewhere In Time and maybe Seventh son and the first Iron Maiden album, those are the only albums where I really like every song on the album =)
That's gotta be one of the simultaniously most simple yet impactful lead phrases in a song's (pre)chorus ever. Bless whoever of the three guitarists came up with that. So beautiful in context with the other parts.

This song has such an emotional, captivating magic about it. It has been a topic of conversation many many times between my Maiden-loving friends and myself. It has honestly been a mystery to many of us as to which parts each guitarist plays (as we have no live performances to show us). Some parts are easy to figure out… and some? Not so much! I have always thought of this as “Davey’s song.” Your cover has answered some questions for me!

This is the most underrated and one of my favorites. I always had my doubts about who does the last solo. In the first 4 solos the guitar has exactly the same tone and in the last it changes a bit, it is more similar to the tone that Janick usually uses and the licks in the solo are more familiar from Janick licks

Great playing and one of my favorite Maiden songs. When I heard Brave New World back in the day, I was very happy with it and hearing such a great song at the end of an already great album was a pleasant surprise.

I've seen a couple of your videos & deep dives, so your skill isn't surprising. What I'm seriously impressed with is how you ABSOLUTELY NAILED the guitar tones to the point of them almost being indistinguishable from the recording.
Thanks! I'm actually using the same sound settings for pretty much everything and I'm not trying to copy their sounds because that would be Impossible especially from one album to the next. A lot of the work is getting the little particularities of each guitarist's playing and really trying to copy the subtelties in their phrasing, pick attack etc. Glad to know it seems to be coming across well 🙏😃🤘

The only time I trained for and ran a half marathon wasn’t long after this album was released. I listened to this one a ton while I was getting in the road work. Great album, and this is a great song, I especially like from the 5:15 mark on. Really nice work here Nico! Also, I love Teles too!

Dave Murray playing like Adrian
That part at 6:45, when they cut the solo to play that emotional harmony with the bass guitar, is that all three guitarists plus the bass playing the same exact note? That part has a sound to it that I haven’t heard anywhere else. It’s like raw pouring of emotion. There’s obviously a backing rhythm guitar going on too, but to me that sounds like an extra track tacked on, while all 4 guitarists, Murray, smith, Janick and Harris play the same note together. Idk if it’s the bass playing along or what but it has this crazy sound I’ve only ever heard in this one Iron Maiden song. You only played that part with one guitar, but I think it’s actually all 3 plus the bass playing that part.

The song that got me started on guitar. I was so obsessed with Dave’s tone back then. Also, I’m very sure Dave plays all of the solos in this song, including the last. The last does not sound like Janicks playing imo
I think Dave's tone made a lot of us a bit obsessed... For me it was songs like Powerslave and Caught Somewhere In Time back in the day. 😊
The last solo... that's definitely Janick. I had always assumed it was Dave just because he did the other 4 so why wouldn't he do all 5? But then someone asked me about it and I actually stopped to listen to the tone and licks... And yeah it's definitely Janick. The second lick in that solo is a trademark Janick lick.

Hi Nico. Who plays what in the solos?.. Jackson = Adrian? Strato = Dave? As IM never played this song live I always had this question opened.
Hey Martin, in this video I played Dave's parts with the Strat, Adrian's with the Jackson and Janick's with the Telecaster. Dave played all the solos except for the last one which I am quite certain is actually played by Janick.
Hi, I think the first one is Adrian's. 2,3,4 Dave's. The last one sounds like Dave's at some places but also like Janick's at other places. This song has always been the most difficult one for me to tell who plays which solo and, as far as I know, for many others too.

Hy Nico ....the first solo ( 2:12 ) and the last one ( 6:56 ) I believe it's Adrian's
The first solo, you can tell it's Dave from the phrasing and especially the quarter note vibrato on the last bend. Not to mention the slight uni-vibe throughout.
As for the last solo: the fast vibrato at the end of the first lick and the circular legato lick at the end of the second lick are not at all how Adrian approaches the guitar.

Great cover as always. However the first half of the song suffers from the modern Maiden formulaic structuring. The second part of the song I find to be quite good and emotional.
How long did it take you to be able to play the entire song?
A couple of hours to learn but there was over 30 years of experience behind that. 😅
