Watched this wonderful series when it first aired. Was thinking about it today and did a search and WOW, here it is. Thank you Mike for creating this tribute to early broadcast radio and collector/restorers. Well done! 73 ES GB
Mike was nominated for a local Emmy for this 5 part series. We rented a limo and rode in style with Mike's co-workers from Cal State Fullerton. It was a lot of fun and even though he did not win Mike and his show was certainly a winner. Barbara
In the '70's, my parent's basement was filled with radios that I brought home-when my mom had to move out, I made several trips to the flea market with my truck filled with radios-I ended up giving most of them to the guys that had the spaces next to me-before the internet days.
Sister Aimee Semple McPherson was the first woman to own a radio license. She began her radio station at the Angelus Temple, across from Echo Park in Los Angeles about 1924 with the station letters KFSG station letters for her denomination Four Square Gospel which was housed at the Angelus Temple. The Angelus Temple had two huge radio towers on the top of the large dome of the Temple with the call letters KFSG on each tower and they lit up at night. Her radio engineer was Kenneth G. Ormiston (a noted radio engineer and radio salesman in Los Angeles at the time) for the KFSG radio station. The radio station was so strong, it drowned out the other radio station in Los Angeles at the time and the FCC had to step in to solve the issue. KFSG ceased operation around 2004 and the radio towers were removed. Many movies have been made about "Sister Aimee" over the years with the first one being "The Miracle Woman" directed by the noted Hollywood Director, Frank Capra in 1931.
Just started collecting last year ( on a very strict budget). Can’t work on them myself, so I’m limited, but it’s very interesting and fun. If those who posted this is still around, thanks. 📻👍🙂‼️

Hi - This is Mike's wife, Barbara, and we still have the show's restored Silvertone console in Mike's office in our home. Thanks for watching!
