For those wondering how, it's due to how Giga Bowser's fight plays out. He is coded as a normal character and even functions as one, likely leftover data from smash 4 when he was a transformation.
The game also has 30 placeholder slots for characters(we already know 6 of those are for DLC), so hacking Giga Bowser into one of those slots makes him playable. Funny thing is he has almost everything a normal fighter would have, even alternate colors. He lacks a victory pose or a name call from the announcer so winning a normal fight with him will crash the game since it'll try to load something that doesn't exist

@@LuisGonzalez-tp1uy I know. This is just my opinion but, it's kinda dull imo. That's why I think there should be a Boss Rush mode in Ultimate, that way you get to face all of them right away instead going through a whole bunch of problems
To be fair, Classic Mode isn't a pain this time.

If it was Brawl Giga Bowser, it’d be way too OP. Super armor, way faster movement, and an actual shield.
Anonymous Person Giga Bowser in smash 4 also deals a lot of shield damage. For example, an uncharged f-smash will break the shield in one hit.

The only issue I see with smash 4 giga bowser is that the form wears away way too quickly. Assuming the wear is not a factor, then smash 4 giga bowser is definitely the way to go.
Anonymous Person In brawl, Giga Bowser has 11 seconds (660 frames) to fight while in Smash 4, he has only 8 seconds (480 frames) to fight before reverting back to Bowser. Smash 4 Giga Bowser can have rage mechanic while brawl doesn’t. So to me, brawl Giga Bowser deals more damage while smash 4 deals more knock back and shield damage.

actually there is a video of level 9 8 player Giga Bowsers. However their Ai is broken. They don’t seem to fight as much as a level 9 cpu. They keep jumping and dodging. Search up “level 9 8 player Giga Bowser” and u will find the video.

What I like the most about this is, just how intact Giga Bowser's moveset from the previous games is even from his transition from somewhat playable to boss-only (with bowser's final smash being a one-use punch); he still plays like any other character, isn't restricted to a single stage, and even his taunts are still there! Of course he's a lot slower, his attacks are slower, can't shield, but everything else is still there.

I don't know. When i fought Giga Bowser, he grabbed Nana then yeeted off the stage and died instantly.
Super Pro Gamer Maeson The Raccon Giga Bowser was way harder than everyone you put above him for me. Even Galeem and Dharkon at the same time. Fighting him was like fighting a regular CPU except nothing at all could make him flinch, and grabbing him was impossible. You also can shield him since he’ll just Side B you. His Smash attacks have ridiculous power and priority. The only way to beat him is to force out a smash attack and try to punish whatever cooldown he has.
Marx is also way easier than you listed him. He was actually one of the easiest bosses for me.

Galeem was also a bad guy. They were just two bad guys fighting over control so when dharkon gets defeated Galeem essentially restarts all life again like he did in the opening cutscene. That’s why the true ending is the only real good ending

even more money if they add the missing bosses from SubSpace (minus Ridley for obvious reasons) & the Master Forms from Wii U (minus Fortress & Shadow, for again, obvious reasons)
And I think that something like this will happen cause we can control master hand and it seems they already kinda made gigs browser controllable cause there are some animations for him in the air from taking damage(I know it's a mod but still)
Was hoping special smash would offer something like this. Instead of setting stats for all fighters, make them set their own stats.
For example:
P1: giant, stamina
P2: bunny hood, metal
P3: tiny, flower
Etc.
Then you could make a 7 vs 1 "boss battle" game mode, that would be epic!

1:38 It looks like giga bowser has some attacks that went unused like his forward air in his fight. This means he was intended to jump if the player was high enough above him but I assume they couldn't program that aspect correctly. My guess is if they did enable him to do that he may end up jumping off the map.

Maybe the Giga Bowser (playable) fighter data was left on accident, and was only meant to be used to update his look and implement him as a boss and Final Smash
The Gooseman No, it's his boss moveset being playable. Was the same case with Melee. It was no accident at all.
Not "on accident" but it's possible that the decision to make all Final Smashes shorter happened fairly late in development, and that's why Giga Bowser is playable.
The Gooseman No. They had to give him a moveset in order for his AI to function correctly. It’s the same reason why Master Hand and Crazy Hand are playable in Melee, Tabuu is playable in Brawl, and Master Hand is, again, playable here in Ultimate.
Except Master Hand as a boss has a different moveset than as a "character"

Edit: Just by seeing the intro for the first fight, you can tell how interesting they'll be.
Am I the only one who thought Bowser was the only captured fighter that was not possessed, like the others when I fought him as Giga Bowser? Maybe Bowser used the power of Galeem to transform into that.

I think that Galeem was using a good portion of his power to make bowser giga bowser for as long as the boss fight would go against his will, because bowser is not someone who likes taking orders, and so the same likely applies to pig Gannon and Dharkon
