🌪Water Tornado / Vortex in a Bottle 🌪
🧪Step 1 - Use two bottles of the same size
🧪Step 2 - Fill one with water
🧪Step 3 - Screw the "vortex connector" to the full bottle
🧪Step 4 - Attach the empty bottle to the upper connector
🧪Step 5 - Turn upside down so the full bottle is on top
🧪Step 6 - No water can move into the empty bottle.
🧪Step 7 - Shake the bottles in a circular motion and a vortex will appear
🧪Step 8 - Watch as the vortex carrier the water into the empty bottle
⚗️The science
When water is filled to the top there is no air to escape backwards which would create pressure to force the water out so instead the water balances on a cushion of air which acts like a seal until it is broken but the force of the vortices.
A vortex appears as a spiral or circular pattern in water with a larger span at the top and narrow at the end. These are also called whirlpools or swirls and eddies (think rivers and boiling water too)
