Sometime when there is very rough soil attached with the plant when we buy it from the nursery, how to take it off without disturbing the plant roots?

You can keep it in water for a few hours and then it would be easy to take the soil away from the roots without damaging them

how to prepare soil mix in cases where the soil is red soil which is much more clayey than the normal soil?
