It's funny when they mention Seoul, Busan, Jeolla etc as 'dialect' but Jeju is like soooo different from others, they actually call it 'Jeju language' lmao
This its because Jeju is an island, which before the age of technology would have been easy for a language to evolve on its own, which may be why many of the words are the same with some unique vocabulary.
Funny...I'm from a country called Bangladesh, we speak Bangla, there are many regional dialects, but the Chittagong dialect is so different from others that even we cannot understand it 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Kyungsoo speaking in different dialects and language is so attractive! I like how this video started with Kyungsoo and ended with Winter. They sound so cool.
About half the Korean population lives in Seoul so naturally when you’re creating content for the whole country to see you’ll use standard/Seoul dialect because the most people understand it. When they are giving interviews or filming content in their hometown they obviously speak that dialect because it’s what the population there understands.
@@fz1792 Seoul, Gyeong gi and Incheon use standard accent. and we called these area for 'Sudo gwon(near capital city area)'. other province ppl called this area just 'seoul' for convinience. and it's half of the Korean population. over 26 million. so it's true.
@@user-yj7mz7mt6z really? I never knew about "Sudo Gwon" , I learned something new today. My point of using the capital's accent as standard isn't nullified either.
They arent being forced lol. Fans like it a lot and entertainment companies scout throughout Korea. Its just that not everyone can understand regional dialects or the regional dialects of each other fully so they use standard korean more. Lol, Im korean and we even make fan signs that greet our fave member in their own dialect when they hold an event or concert in different regions in Korea. Its even one of the special things about some members being noted by fans in Korea and outside Korea. Please educate yourself before making hasty assumptions and imaginary things.
I don't think they're being forced. I'm not Korean, but my country also has hundred of languages and dialects, but people on TV always use standard national language, so that people in every region could understand them easily.
Also, aren’t most of their audience in Seoul ? Like around 70-80% ? ( I’m not too sure, sorry ) Those who grew up in the big city seoul, most don’t understand dialects. So, it would be hard for the tv shows to convey their content when their mcs, panelists and guests speak dialects.
Also everyone is expected to use and know standard Korean in most professional settings and especially in school. I consider myself pretty fluent in Korean to the point where I don’t need subtitles and I can read books but watching the reply series and our blues really showed me how different the dialects can be. It’s not just intonation or accents, it’s called a dialect because it’s almost another language.
It’s a biological being’s natural tendency to want to blend in with surroundings rather than stand out. That’s why people tend to lose their dialects when they live in another area for a long time, they start speaking like the people they currently live with. It’s the same with British people almost sounding American the more they live in the US, or southern Americans losing their southern accent when they go live for a long time In LA.
I can't with kyungsoo and taehyung they really are savage and both of them are capricorn too lol they're so similar u need to expect the unexpected with them🤣🤣🤣

7:20 There was a poll about who is the best South Korea actor in speaking North Korea language and dialect.. and the winner is D.O. 😂 hard work pays off!!
I don't understand much Korean but what I hear is the intonation in Winter's voice for example. It is noticeable if you really pay attention to how she raises the pitch of her words. If you read music it's like she says,"Unnie" a semitone higher than a Seoulite would. Busan dialect is quite noticably different in intonations. I think if you pay close attention you will hear it too. Harder for us primarily English speakers for sure tho.
they differ in tones if you notice. and many words get a bit variated? like it's the same word but it's modified. almost like pronunciation of tomato and tomato in british and american?? so you still can grasp what the other is saying. idk if this makes sense but i hope this helps hahah
its the tonal inflection and different endings for words mostly. some words are shortened with satoori. jeju-do satoori is very interesting bc it's essentially like its own language and varies more from standard korean than other dialects. a lot of people who live in jeju can't even understand the native satoori there
I came here because Winter's new satoori vid dropped (and is looking back for her old satoori vids) you guys its so freaking cute like i can watch it all day long. Y'all can check it out for cuteness overload...
D.O can be easily a North Korean, Hispanic , American and etc.He literally doesn't have any accent of his own language.
Kyungsoo is multilingual😂😂

And Don't forget abt his Spanish too

It's just natural to use the same accent used in the capital city.. And people usually live in the capital city for more job opportunities

That's wrong its actually 1/5th of the total population that lives is Seoul but its only natural to use the capital city accent as a standard
