Kristen Bell was perfect casting for Anna, her personality is exactly like Anna in real life, has been forever.
Because Anna's character is taken from her only... Like you may notice Anna again and again saying "wait, what?" in the movie, like Kristen bell really does in her life.

Yeah, it does make sense now that I think about it. :) I guess I thought the director would be saying "try it this way" or "try it that way", but the actors do it themselves automatically.
Voice actors give options. Because of the way studios run, the actors record all their lines in a couple sessions. And sometimes, they aren't in the room together like they are here. So not knowing how the editors are going to put the whole thing together, you want to leave them with lots of material. You don't want to get called back to rework, haha. (Which sometimes, you do anyway because they change the script or story.)

That's usually how you get the best of a performance in any voice acting role. Mark Hamill used to always literally put on a Joker face whenever he was voicing him for years.

Yeah, to me the smokiness kind of interferes with the femininity to some extent. But really, it's not about being masculine or feminine. Just enjoy what you enjoy. Those terms are just categorizations that we attach too much power to. I like sweeter sounding voices myself.

Before I looked up the cast when I heard Elsa sing "Let it go" her voice sounded more mature to me. I love her voice that's my favorite part of the movie. They made the right choice for Elsa's voice. She's not meant to sound like the typical Disney princess cuz she's not a princess she's a QUEEN! Love it
Idina did so well and I was so glad to hear her singing. Her voice is so rich that it was off putting to see a character sing it, but I absolutely loved the scene Let it Go. The movie was amazing :)
I know doesn't she have a beautiful voice! Mind you though, I'd be disappointed if they didn't have her singing a little since she spent a while doing theatre in wicked!

I've heard that voice actors in Animated movies rarely record their lines in the same room, Although their have been other exceptions (Tom Hanks and Tim Allen in The Toy Story movies, Billy Crystal and John Goodman in Monsters, Inc.) The actors just seem more connected when they record their lines together!

That's because they usually record it in two different rooms at two different times. This is not really the norm, but it's fun to watch.
Juonithz Ramos Oh yeah, I know it's not the norm, that's what I mean, you don't see it much anymore with voice actors, it's refreshing to see they actually did it for this movie, they should go back to that as much as possible. Helps with the chemistry
Voice actors are not usually in the same recording sessions when they do dialogue, but Frozen really benefited by having the "sisters" acting together. Especially when you realize how little screen time they actually have together in the movie.

You can actually see where the animators incorporated both actresses facial expressions/ body gestures into the two main characters.
Really cool watching these.
It's a pretty normal thing to do for animated characters. Look how they did it in Avatar, hell even Smaug (that Dragon from 'the Hobbit') was done this way to some extent.
Well...Smaug and Avatar were mainly motion captured with the animators doing their thing shortly afterwards (funny that WETA worked on both) with Frozen, there was no motion capture involved, it was mostly the animators taking what they want for the film.
***** Another movie that shows this is Tangled. Rapunzel and Flynn look so much like their VA, especially Rapunzel/Mandy Moore and her brunette pixie cut.
Watching things like this makes me want to be a voice actor so bad. It's so amazing how they can convey emotions through their voice acting. Also, I find it interesting how they have to do the same lines over and over again in order to get the right emotion through.

i watched the movie 6 times in SIX STRAIGHT DAYS! Watching the moving was so enchanted and magical that you cannot explain that much. The emotion to every little words they spoke warms your feeling. I am a total fan for this movie and the voice actors and actresses.
KIRSTEN AND IDINA ARE MY FAVORITE, THEY DID GREAT AS ANNA AND ELSA, they look like their okay with voicing Anna and Elsa.

Look, I love the fact that Idina Menzel sounds different then all those other cliché Disney Princesses. But she isn't a princess shes a powerful QUEEN. She's older than Anna who IS a princess and that's why Kristen Bell has that quirky Disney voice and Idina is a woman, and she isn't afraid to be the woman that she is. (:
