Honestly it just depends on if ur able to turn ur camera the angle you need to do Kyoto, and also if you are able to waste their evasive so you can do the combo.

its a bit easier if you do a left side dash
the hitbox is slightly tilted so it catches them if they closer to the ground
less likely to collide with their body when dashing when done properly
since your arm reaches backwards it catches laggy people easier too

idk how to say it but its nerfed a bit on the side dash to lethal there a small chance ur oppenent will hold u back and the old kyoto have a much more hitbox in the side dash to lethal part and now u have ti perfectly land it and this is why kyoto is easier to land in the past but harder to land nowdays

I think what they actually nerfed was Flowing Water to Hunter's Grasp. I don't know if this only happens to me, but it's a lot harder for me to actually land that combo.
I can’t land Kyoto, but every time I land flowing water into huntersgrasp. It’s easier than Kyoto because it can pick them up off the ground. Whirlwind stream cannot

as a freestyle player (I don't really know how to explain it, but I play without combos or sometimes I do, but rarely use one) my most used combo is the Kyoto combo, for me, it's not nerfed, I can still do it with shift lock on which is harder than no shift lock I guess.

Imagine the s t r o n g e s t dummy bossfight is just the dummy gets a 50% chance to dodge your attack negating all negative effects and the dummy attacks and kills a person with a combo each time it dies [cannot die too]
