Hey Steve, I feel your pain. Hope you get relief soon. Might be time to train an assistant for Alex. You could spend more time pricing and organizing the jobs and less time bent over a trench. Cheers
Hi Steve, good luck with hip replacement, had my left hip done 2021 ,doc wanted to do it in 2015 it was really bad shape then. Worked with a cane the last 2 years before operation, on scaffolding, roofs everywhere. Went back to work after 3 months, got rid of the cane after 6 months visiting my daughter in Wales & took 2 years to loose the pain. I'm 65 now & still bend over & put my left leg behind me to lay the lower courses. I feel your pain.
Hi Steve and Alex it's great watching artists at work I never miss a video people who post negative comments are jealous of your talent hope you get your hip sorted soon
I feel your pain mate. I'm sat watching with my leg up. I was carrying a cement mixer with my son & a scaffolding board gave way under my left leg. I heard a big crack as my knee twisted & can hardly walk. You look after yourself pal.
After all the hard work you should go home and have some Liverpool Wet Nelly 😋. Nice work as always. Glad to see the little pump in action. I feel all your pain Steve my joints are all toast to but at 74 don’t want to go under the knife. Cheers mates.
Wall is looking nice. Feel for you Steve, my knees are almost knackered after 50 yrs in engineering construction so I know how you feel and I don’t think I’m as bad as you. Regards, Dave
Couldn’t help laughing when you started using your water suction pump at 4:02! Just imagine a pedestrian walking along the pavement from behind you and seeing that stream of water, and thinking “Blimey, what was he drinking last night!” But seriously, thanks to you both for another interesting video. Let’s hope that call comes soon to get your hip sorted Steve. Best regards gents. Stay safe and well.
making hay while the sun shines or so it is said i do not mind workers working on a Sunday as you could not work in the rain it does not do you any good and when a part of your body is feeling bad then it will only get worse hopefully soon Steve you will be able to get it seen to ,thanks for the video on that beautiful morning

Good work again lads....I feel for you Steve, hope the NHS get you sorted soon mate, I don't know how you put up with the shit weather in the UK, I left that lot behind 20 years ago, 12+ years in Southern California and now into the 7th year on the Costa Del Sol Spain, I love the dry and sunny weather, I know it ain't for everyone but I love it.....Keep on keeping on lads....Saludos desde España mi amigos.
Sorry I missed this but we were doing the eclipse here, went over the house and had people over, had another heart op on Wednesday last week and doing great now, hope you get your hip done soon, you will feel like a new man
Considering the hassle with the wet bricks that wall came up to a decent height for one session👍 Think id be thinking about my dinner from 12 onwards. 😁
Oh Steve I can see your pain, its a good job that Alex is with you keeping an eye on you he is certainly your right arm . Excellent video I learned a lot that pump great seeing tat water . Moss on those bricks? must have been wet for ages !Please stay safe and and take care best regards as ever Ken
I’ve watched a lot of your channel and enjoy your content, work ethic and skill linked with your attention to detail. I’m not connected to bricklaying but have a new appreciation of all the skills that you guys add to our lives after all we all need a roof over our heads. I’d like to comment on your hip and offer an alternative approach to the pain that blights your life and particularly the bending down. We generally say things like I’m getting old and need to expect these things, I disagree and point out that the biggest component of these joint issues is inflammation which in turn is associated with poor diet and eating foods that cause internal inflammation. Please have a look at the carnivore diet, eating only animal products, predominantly ruminant meat such as beef. Treat it as an elimination diet and see how much you can reduce your pain. This comment is well meaning and comes from a 2 year carnivore who has experienced their own positive changes.
Up early watching this before i go to price a job to be told i am to expensive the joys of the self employed, good job on the wall lads, quality over quantity every time, glad i don't have a bad hip it looks a right pain in the ass
The reason I left the trade was because my body was knackered, haven’t felt this good for years, where I’m from we didn’t use much bricks, it was just proper concrete blocks 4” and 6”
Pumping to nothing, find the lowest point on the footings and dig a small 6 inch hole next to them for the pump. You must get yourselves a hose kit for it👍
Dad would win hands down even with his bad hip , but he’s had far more experience, be nice if the son could speed up a bit and take over the below ground laying to give his dad a break ! We all started somewhere at the beginning
Water soaks into the mortar making it difficult to build up your courses because the mortar bed is sloppy, also dribbles out on to the faces of the bricks and makes a mess that can be hard to clean up afterwards.....
That wrapping they put on the brick does nothing at all a little hole in it the water gets in there then ur buggered they need to sort out some sorta different wrapping around the bricks I think
At the end of the day it’s more to stop stray bricks going flying more than to keep em dry I reckon. They don’t give a hoot what state we receive them in . They have their money and as the old saying goes “Bricky will get over it “ 😒🧱👍🏽

@@SteveAndAlexBuild If they are too wet they cannot be laid - as they swim all over the place. and efflorescence staining will be an issue with the wall during drying out. Smearing & staining on the wall, and almost impossible to "joint up" the work at the end of the shift.... 🧱🧱😁😁👍👍
