I can agree because I’m a normal player with a life and I used to play like twice or three times a week for about an hour or two each time now since season 18 matchmaking changes I have now retired from apex legends

the game is quite literally rigged, they make it harder for you to win, because they give you worse teammates (basically try to kepe you in longer by making you lose over and over again, and winning occasionally) but they also give you wins based on shit to

Thats why i stopped playing the BR completely, like im not expecting to get a random pro player as my random.. but i suck, my kdr is 1.4, my avg damage is 450. Im not totally terrible but i aint no master level player. I get bodied more often than not, but why are my teammates 90% of the time 10x worse than me. While all my opponents seem to have the most godlike teamwork and aim where i just get rolled. Hell best case scenario i clutch up and knock 2 people only to be go down to the third who then casually 1v3s the rest of the team as they run around like headless chickens. They claim sbmm, but idk if it was sbmm should my teammates more often than not be at least as decent as myself?
I love the gameplay for apex, imo its handsdown the most interesting fps on the market by miles, currently i only play mixtape and the same shit happens in that mode too but that mode clearly has no real match making other than connection based mm from what i can tell. Like if we do sbmm make it actually good, i hate this big brother matchmaking. Im so over babysitting abysmal players while having to fight off 3 stack of high skill players, its just not fun. If i had other equally strong players then im all for it, lets go. But thats never what happens.

@@deustauries no clue, whats your playstyle? Playing snipers from far will usually net you higher average damage with less kills than playing smgs at close range where you can net kills with the damage.
Funny thing is i really like using snipers with 2-4x and just poking teams from afar.

They give you teams you have to carry going against stacked diamonds and the occasional masters while in silver lol. Why have a specific rank then smdh?

I think I unstand what's happening partially. I've been frustrated by the SBMM for several seasons as it has gotten worse and worse, so I've had time to think about it. It goes back to 2 different things they've said about matchmaking. First, their "buckets" they put players in by skill. When you get killed by players SO much better than you it feels bad, so they made more buckets. If we think about it as if there were only 3 originally "low, mid, high" people who were at the edge, always felt off. Now it's like there are 5 "high, high-mid, mid, high-low, low" which in theory would make it play better. BUT. they also prioritize matchmaking times over skill buckets. Which means they will pull from the bucket below to fill lobbies, as it should be pyramid shaped, and there should always be more the tier below you. So the bottom bucket won't see preds, but the mid buckets will get pulled to fill their lobbies all the time as now you won't see people worse than you very often. That also means at higher lobbies you aren't going to see many people who are not used to playing, so all skill levels feel harder and off, and yeah, it's pretty rigged against you. Chances are you are always one of the lower skill players in your lobby.
yeah those lower skilled players you speak of are being slapped on the mid-high's team as a solo player. with no mic, no communication at all vs 3 stack preds.

Want to read something interesting? When I was in Diamond in this season I was hoping to have better skilled teammates, like other Diamonds or Masters. The funny part is that I started realizing by asking people their ranks at the time of playing with me as a random, to my surprise there where even Silver, Bronze and Gold players paired up with me as a Diamond! The next day, I stopped playing Apex and ranked. It was all for nothing. How do they even expect me to rank up to masters if my teammates (who are not at fault) are paired up with me in harder lobbies?
My MMR never seems to go down even though I get 0 kills for 10 games straight
ikr i have been trying to get damage and i just can't because for literally 10 games in a row there was someone on my team or in the champion sqaud that had a 4k or a 20 bomb badge
As I've been saying from the beginning. The rank you're in needs to be the people you're going against. Because if you do good that means you're better than them so you rank up if they don't do good they stay where they're at or go down. Then after a couple weeks or months it all settles out then you finally get to the rank that you're most likely at
I've had this happen to me. My situation is I go up against Diamond - Pred teams and my teammates are sometimes silvers. I have the same opinion as Sweet as it is probably better to have it, but it should be tweeked.
They need a rat timer. If they could put a timer in the game that affects your bonus multipler, then they can install a rat timer, and then a trigger system to remove your acc from being able to rank. It's actually not hard to do. Then they could return the game back to s17 ranked.
Little too harsh, but you shouldn't rat when your full team is alive. I have run into multiple people where they are just hiding and not playing with me as a team.

Yeah, this is the year apex completely sinks or swims. The insane amount of collections for money a year needs to be cut in half and the game modes and quality of life needs to go way up.

its funny to me that it took sweetdreams doing this for people to see what console players have known and been experiencing for about the last 4-5 seasons ranked is unplayable for casual console players ... it was a horrible decision to change sbmm in the way they did .. even theoretically it just doesn't make sense... completely destroys the point of have ranking system because everyones climb to diamond or master would be different based on MMR
My climb to diamond because of my mmr is horrible, been in diamond/masters lobbies since silver. This system is terrible and has made me want to uninstall the game even though I love this game
It was also sweet that showed how easy it was to rat and pad mmr/rank from 2 seasons ago.

Its not even only console, its the same shit on pc. You can have the most average stats and games and if you win a single match gg have fun getting rolled by multiple master/pred 3 stacks until you gotten beaten so much the game gives you a break and starts putting you in lobbies that actually feel fair.
Ive just quit playing the br entirely, i refuse to waste my time playing a loading simulator and being a target dummy for people who play 8 hours a day 3 stacked with other people who play just as much.. i want to PLAY the game, not spend 2 minutes loading in a match only to gather loot to deliver to the 3 stack..
the game also seems to add salt to the wound by always putting the absolute worst players in the world on my team expecting my average casual ass to carry them against no lifers.. like i played 1 br match this season because my bud begged me to just try it. After not playing the br for like 2 seasons, what is our random? Well what else than a level 3. But it wasnt a master smurf.. no no no that would imply we might be able to have fun, no i have to carry the level 3 who has never played an fps game in their life.. i get the level 3 who has no idea how to heal.. i get the level 3 that does 15 damage while i do 2800.. my bud coudnt stop laughing saying he almost never gets teammates that bad.. well respawn can go find other people to fill their br lobbies and carry these shitters because that aint happening ever again..

I experienced this when H3 died 😢 casuals and new players dry up first. Good people are left over which just raises the avg sweat level as the most dedicated stick around. Soon every match and player is sweat. The sweat-rapture

I wish I knew about Sweet Dreams Solo Q challenge, his frustration would have been hugely entertaining because I’ve been experiencing the same shit for at least 6 seasons where teammates are not on your level but because you’re a team player and do ok the SBMM algorithm gives you teammates below your level every time. And yes it takes allot of skill in console lobbies where you’re constantly dodging laser accurate beams from every angle of the map on 60FPS
The SBMM is attached to your I.P address not your account name (and also very likely stores a cookie somewhere) So the server still knows he's a Pred/Masters player. Further MMR decides what your actual level is depending on how well you play in your first few games. There are a lot less smurfs thanks to MMR.
Almost every consumer grade ISP rotates your IP. There is no way respawn locks your mmr to IP.
@@Rievven Um, it's rare for a consumer to have a dynamic IP unless your area is weird or you're still on ancient dial up or something. That would make ban evasion incredibly easy. Yes, your MMR is locked to your IP. The entire point of MMR was to stop smurfing just by changing usernames.

The current matchmaking system isn't sustainable for Apex. Wattson makes an interesting point, so I'm curious how the game would look if they changed the matchmaking again.
I took a break from this game for 3 months. Very first game of this season, I get in with the number 451 console pred. And was fighting nothing but Masters and previous Preds. Before this my highest actual rank was D2. I don't count masters after they made it easier. The matchmaking is a complete joke.
Ranked became pointless once they changed the Pre-season 13 system, each ranked used to have a certain skill bracket which actually represented the different ranks accurately (Gold lobbies felt like gold plat lobbies felt like plat)
Reseting everyones rank to bronze was one of the worst decisions i think they ever made.
As a day 1 solo'q player i'll say matchmaking changed in season 8, i didnt play this season but the next season i could tell the matches felt waay different "Less random"
I'll tell ya one thing about Apex...Fortnite has been a lot of fun lately.
It's not all just who you play against its who you play with, its a total team mmr so if mine is very high it will find two teammates who are very low and collectively we have a high mmr so we get a high mmr lobby, I have a 5 year old sweaty apex friends list with 20+ multi x pred players and the highest any of us are is gold 3... everyone use to solo to d3 then grab teams nobody did that and nobody wants to put together a full stack just to play a gold lobby that's actually a pred lobby.
Same for me I used to solo all the way up to Masters and occasionally hit pred if I got there early, the only times I stayed in pred is if I had my friends play that season lol. But ever since season 15 and up the match match making has gotten worse

I've been told this to people about trashpex but haven't gotten to upload my opinion on the state of apex. What triggered me with hiswattson is how he says we have to deal with it. NO YOU DO because you simped over to them because your whole lively hood is linked to them but to someone that wants competitive integrity in a video game in 2024 by now should create a path to those endeavors already and all you suckers that buy into the game get real already. You could be spending the money else where then you skin on a video game that plays you in return and spits in your face.
I die every game to a 3 stack pred team with EACH having 9+ kills. They just roll my entire lobbies
In my personal experience solo q’ing matches my teammates die off rip, I’m stuck in 1v3 against prev or current preds an masters when I just started the game- and idk bout yall but I’m not grinding 1k per rank up when my teammates are useless an I get barely any lp
I got slammed by the rank 525 predator yesterday and his movement legit didnt look like controller ( i was silver3 7 games into my placement on ps5)
I made it to diamond recently.. plat lobbys are so cluttered with people doing whatever they want … so they can’t rank … and diamond people are staying together as teams and actually fighting 😂not ratting .. feels great once you break platinum ❤

My friends don't want to play with me anymore because an easy lobby is diamond champ lobby for me, because all i get is masters lobbys every game or higher.

I just gave up on ranked. Every game ill definitely get a teammate that will die 5 secs into the game. I usually just jump off or die in the ring. Cant be bothered anymore.
I have 11k on Catalyst but I ain't the best player & how i get those kills is because i got loads of free time as i am moving home and its taking months so i don't have a job yet.. I just had time for it but the game thinks i'm the best in the game and i'm put with 3 stacks and nothing else, every poi i go, it is always rushed on non stop and it goes on for too long... I started season 3 and i have never seen a game struggle this bad or be full of issues such as Audio being silent every 4 seconds, bullets going through walls (Even on 30 ping), bad optimization for most pc's, randomly banning players who aren't cheating and they are innocent.. This game changed my life positively in 2020 but it's not fun anymore! I had this game yesterday where a Bangalore slid down terraformer poi and i ran up on her but she looked as if she didn't hear me! I then got her for 144 and she stood still and dashboarded quicker than my phone speed.. I understand why people insta leave now after being downed because the frustration of this SBMM is also ridiculous. They are telling us "the better you are, the worse team mates you'll get but your opponents get harder". What a Respawn move i can't lie

HisW has a point and that tactic probably has a longer shelf life but now it's expiring. People are actually fed up and flat out are going to different games for good or barely touching Apex. You want a happy loyal fanbase ie. Valorant, CSGO, League etc. Attentive Devs and companies are rewarded by simply doing right by the fanbase.

Another big problem is no one uses there mic, there's 0 comms. I consistently drop Moore damage and kills then both my teammates put together in over 95% of my games season 20 is my 3rd season ever and I'm better than teammates who been playing this game since vary early on it gets frustrating I thought getting my K/D up would helpe get better teammates but it seems only my competition gets harder, love the fact that for the most part nobody rats in this game but the teamates I get takes the fun out, when I have to consistently carry or gotta 1v3 to not get wiped
The strength of skill based matchmaking or recent performance based matchmaking systems is way to high for public matches with no visible rank this truly feels like this isn’t designed to flatten things out and make a fair and balanced match games. It truly feels like a punishment to get good at the game. Remove MMR that is trash 🗑️
I’m a peak D2 console player in bronze rn and I’m in games with top 100 preds. PC preds btw. Yes I’m playing cross play pc lobbies but my pc friend peaked D3 with me. We’ve never been anywhere near pred yet we’re facing them. Seems kinda unfair

A ranked system should be having you play against the rank you're in or a rank above. Ranked based matchmaking is how it should be not this garbage they have now.

This game thinks im imperial or itstimmy and puts me with robots im convinced. Not to mention, the teams that im always fighting should not be in my rank or games period. I'm really tired of getting killed by 20 bomb 12k kill players. I went to the finals until next season.
The reason you're getting masters/preds in gold is because you're running through bronze/silver lobbies getting 10-15 kills a game. The game knows you ain't no silver/gold player. You're one of the best players in the world and crying because you're facing good players? SMH
Exactly it's not just SBMM, it's MMR that kicks in after a few games. I think it's done wonderfully for stopping smurfs.
It has helped, the apex community really needs to analyze these pro players and stop allowing them to dictate their enjoyement. These pro players complain about everything
It’s not only their engagement based MM, they use difficulty adjustment. They have a patent called Dynamic Difficulty Adjustment that alters your game so that it is more or less difficult, depending on how good or bad you’re doing. Not sure if they use that exact system, but why would they make a patent like that if they weren’t using it or something similar to it. If you played a good amount of Apex, I’m sure you notice weird shit going on, like no regs, losing gun battles when you shoot first and hit every shot to a noob…etc. There’s plenty of other things they can do to make your game more difficult. The example they use on their patent is of a racing game where they slow your car down if you’re doing too well and speed up your opponents. Apex is rigged.
I get what his Watson was getting at about the addicting aspect, i think it is their approach but I don’t think it’s working, I haven’t bought a season pass in over a year maybe even 2, I’ve sunk a few hundred into the game but I just don’t anymore. My ranked experience is literally that of sweets. I made it to diamond really early, stayed for a couple weeks the. Went cold and dropped out. As soon as I dropped back into plat I was going against 3 stack preds and that’s the last I played. It’s so whack.

I quit for this reason it’s not fun dropping as a gold And see 2-5 pred stacks in your lobby. I moved on to the Finals. Completely ruined the game for me.

I would say better him then me, but I’am a gold tier player with a 0.63 kd and that’s what’s in my lobbies pred and masters stacks that wreck my ass in a blink of an eye.

There shouldn’t be any MMR placement for ranked. The lobbies should just be based on the RANK you’re in. It’s literally why ranked has ranks.
Oh yeah we don’t play ranked anymore. I’m silver 3 and I’m not going to continue through diamond/master lobbies to get silver 2. F that me and my homie get on once in a while to play a little pubs.
I have a video I posted on snapchat. I got killed by a 3 stack of preds. One of which was LITERALLY Enoq. One of my teammates was Plat 2 and one was rookie 2. I was gold 1. Wtf is going on in ranked.
Only the pro players and big apex stremers will force respawn/ea to fix this fucking bullshit. They need to hard stop abandon the game and switch to something else for a few months, then you'd see changes,
Masters multiple season in a row and this season is the worst by far for actual players. Season 17 was terrible because of camping but at least people who really tried to play could rank up.
all I'm asking is that my teammates are as good as my enemies is not fair that I get enemies that are my level and teammates that are literally new players
I've been playing on and off since the game launched. S2 hit plat, S3 diamond, stopped playing for a bit and would occasionally come back on every few seasons or so and would casually hit plat every time. I started grinding again recently and I'm hard stuck in silver and I keep getting paired against diamond, masters and the occasional pred. I get that we're around the same skill level but how am I supposed to climb if I'm already paired against the people I should be ranked in?
I waited for a pro pc player or streamer to switch to console and see the difference. Big balls to sweet for taking the challenge

Was this even a question? I'm a pred player. Made a new acc. Played about 5-10 games. By about game 7 I was getting diamonds and masters. And not even into level 6 on the acc I was facing preds.
I used to play rank religiously that was all I played I love the challenge and the grind but I haven’t play rank in two to three seasons now

This is why i did reverse boosting. How to reverse? Easy. You'll need to play duos hot drop every time and die fast. Do it a lot and a lot really, your mmr became really bad and... yeah nice lobby again.
This is the worst season for rank. I’ve never seen this many preds and constantly in my lobbies. Back then it would be like finding a unicorn. But every single match triple stack preds 20k kills? Here I am diamond 1 but I’m getting paired up with silvers - plats how is that even fair plus not to mention these preds are cheating I’ve seen 3 squads running around together lifeline octane pathy to ppl using Cronus scripts. To going up against preds and then finding their UA-cam promoting Cronus scripts laughing how they can’t get banned. Or Getting beamed from across the map? That’s never been an issue till now? How has respawn not done anything about these cheaters and Cronus players. Oh don’t forget they give you a squad that hit drops and instantly pairs you up with the same duo next match ? This is the worst experience I’ve had since season 1. I rather go back to KP instead of LP
Even sadder though is if you see a pred badge there’s a 50% chance they’re cheating.
I play this game like 4 hrs a day, not a pro, but kinda good where it counts. What I would like to see is if I'm playing against my normal diamond and up players in ranked, I want to place in diamond an up like the teams I fight, not continue to be placed in rookie after grinding the game for 2k hrs an still have to go all the way up the rank pool every season. Why have placements if they give you the sweatiest lobbies and new teammates to just die off drop all 10 games?
Don't get me wrong this is my favorite game, I love it, but the SBMM at least on Playstation has been friggin weird the last couple seasons. I sweated my ass off season 17 an got to diamond an felt great, didn't rat, it was smooth and felt like a scent climb the whole way. Season 18 suddenly felt like I was in ALGS from Rookie all the way to the point where I got tired of dying to preds in bronze lobbies an ran down trios the rest of the season. Still heckin fun in pubs though

We need to cater to the casuals as well. The longer EA/Respawn takes to fix the issues or at least communicate and acknowledge them to the general player base, the less casual players will hop in. Making the situation worse when you have nothing but pros, sweats, and preds playing concurrently.
Personally I like the challenge (usually), but I don’t see how it’s at all possible for a new player to hop in given the ever growing skill ceiling. Even someone who’s been playing since day 1 can find themselves in the dust if they fall off for too long.
This is their idea cater to the casual players. Thats why majority of players have master badges now, they need to cater to the competitive side. Fix the shit ranked system, get the good players the rank they need to be in, not have your bronze-silver player drop 10+ kills a game and win and still not even rank up. Wild
@@flamg0982 dropping new players in with preds, as the video shows happening to Sweet, is no ones intentional idea of catering to the casual player base. It’s a fault. My comment was why I believe it to be happening more and more.
Additionally less than 20% is hardly a majority and was the result of respawn making the ranked system too rewarding for a second time. Those two master badges are considered meaningless. NOT masters as a whole.
The issues with ranked LP gain you’re having in those silver lobbies you mentioned are known, but when a person with literally no game dev knowledge just says “fix the shit ranked system” without any constructive suggestion, it makes me want to urge you to go make your own game if you can do better.
Game is catered to casuals which is why it's so god damn garbage but they bring in all the money and they don't care about the loyal community of people that enjoy the game enough to even try to get good
@@TaporMnk I see your point however, I have been playing the game since 2nd week it was released and enjoyed the prime of ranked s3-8 But now it just encourages placement which it didnt used too back then. Yes the ranked system is shit, didnt used too be they can do it again. Yeah I can technically say that btw its a million dollar company and they still dont want to revert changes as such so im sure their dev team is good

i mean im in masters rn close to pred but im not getting non eof these pred or nun im my lobbie js rotations and plus i do get poeple my skill base but still im on xbox 2 an im not getting none of these bad sbmm matches or anything.
Im so confused. He's complaining about being stream sniped with TTV in his name and not being able to Smurf to masters on console? Im mean we knew this went away a couple of seasons ago with ItzTimmy was doing it. That being said Apex SBMM still blows but even if you are paired with people you are at you skill level it doesn't mean everyone in the lobby wont be better or stacked teams. Most of ranked is literally 3 people to a lobby thats why its ranked!
I finally uninstalled Apex after played nearly every day since day 1. Its no fun anymore for a low/mid tier player. Matchmaking sucks. Queue time sucks. Events suck. Rewards suck.
I miss the good old days but they arent coming back. New Apex is really bad, just accept it.
