I used to play minion rush back in the day and it had way less in app purchases and just had a much better progression system in general, fist time i ever really noticed a game slowly become less fun cuz they where tryna find ways to monetize it
Originally, Minion Rush was a really fun endless runner. You could pick any world, do online racers, and actually try a run without it stopping because you completed an objective. Monetization ruins almost anything.
Minions rush was so fun when it released. Back then you couldn't just select which world you want to run in so it always felt magical when got teleported to a new one.
Sad thing about Minion Rush was when the Jelly Lab update was added, personally I felt that limit a lot of freedom in just selecting what world you want to run in, trust me when I say the app was better at the start
I actually really like Minion Rush, it's a fun pick-up and play game, with some really good and creative level designs. It's definitely not for everyone though. I enjoy the special missions, and thinking about which minion's abilities will benefit me the most in them.
personally i miss tie in games. like i said on ur other video, it was how my brother and i continued stories after a movie or tv show ended. We'd create our own. And im a huge lore guy. And a lot of these games would expand the lore. Often times it was considered canon back then. tie-in video games was how i became a big fan of a lot of franchises. i wouldnt say those games were bad like you say. Just nothing special. They were ur standard action platformer and collect-a-thon type games. i just realized something. How large is gamelofts team? xD they have so many mobile games that they continue to update to this day. And they are currently working on disney dreamlight valley. Like where do they find the time? xD
Yes me too! Me and my brothers would love to add new lore and stories or add our characters into stories with the Lego games or any tie in games! And I’m not too sure how big gameloft is, but these days there games are far easier to produce because they’re sticking to more traditional mobile games rather than trying to recreate console experiences for mobile
I can vouch for Minion Rush and say that back when I played it during the Despicable Me 2 era, the game overall just had a better progression system, more F2P friendly and less microtransactions. Added with frequent and exciting updates kept me excited until I naturally grew up
You should make a video about a lot of the really good Disney games that many people have forgotten about. I loved every Cars game and the 2 Incredibles games and Toy Story 3 were incredible
Love your vids, it's a crime this only has 300 views I remember in like 6 grade, my friend group would play the dumb minion run game but only one of us had a smartphone so we'd all pass it around and take turns. And yeah, I dont remember the monetization being this aggressive back then
I played the Wii game as a kid and I had forgotten about the puzzles, I remember enjoying those as well. I also agree they are similar to Portal. I'm pretty sure I had played Portal 1 & 2 before playing it.

Minion rush used to genuinely be great. It was better that subway surfers because it was online, it had different worlds, and different environments. Like, sometimes you would run thriugh a house and have 2 different paths to take, one up or down the stairs. It was a nice change compared to subway surfers, just t r a i n. G r o u n d. Now it has ads, and if you complete a quest, the run randomly stops. Also, doing basically anything is a pain.
Minion Rush used to be so good! Now its generic and overcomplicated imo. I do have fond memories with minions paradise though! It was actually pretty good.

I had the DS game as a kid, and mainly remember it for the OST going unnecessarily hard, I would genuinely play it just to listen to the music as a kid. Also the tutorial theme SLAPS for no reason.
Same here there’s no reason a mediocre licensed 2010 Ds game should have music that good seems to me like all the effort for the game went into making the music

Minion Rush went downhill about the same time Despicable Me 3 came out.
Minion rush used to be really good, it didn't have as many igp's when I played it as a kid.
