  • Since churches are automatically considered a 501(c)(3), what do they do if they are forced to prove they are a 501(c)(3)? Most mainline denominations take care of that for a church, and I walk through that for the United Methodist churches.

Because the 501C3 puts US Government over The Most HIGH!!!
Pastor of the 501C3 is a "HIRELING"!!!
Joh 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Joh 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
Joh 10:12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
Joh 10:13 The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
Joh 10:14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

Titus 3:1-2: Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and always to be gentle toward everyone.

@@JeffPospisil Ron, is right. You are wrong Jeff. Our country gives us freedom of speech and religion. Churches are already exempt from paying taxes and according to the IRS there's no need to apply for tax exemption status. Once you apply under a 501c3, the church is under government control. You quote from Titus, but fact is the government allows churches to be separated from them in the first place. Why would you ever give up your freedom?

@@sarahknight6627 Just curious, if a church rejects being a 501c3, what status are they claiming to be exempt from Federal Income Tax? Do their donors know that their gifts to the church are not charitable contributions, and it would be illegal to claim them as such on their tax returns?

@@JeffPospisil To quote Jesus; "render to Caesar, what belongs to Caesar."

@@sarahknight6627 You're not answering the question. If the church rejects the 501c3 status, then they owe Federal Income Tax unless they claim another tax exempt status. What status should the church claim if not 501c3? Also, what about the donors? If they are claiming charitable contributions for their gifts to the non-501c3 church, they are cheating Caesar.
