i7-8700K to 5GHz in 2 Steps with ASRock Z370 Taichi/ Intel Optane 8s Startup

- This video was originally intended to demonstrate the Intel Optane lightning fast startup and shut down with the i7-8700K and ASRock Z370 Taichi mobo but overclocking 'stable' to 5Ghz was so simple...we couldn't resist. This video also includes Win/Intel NVMe driver performance comparison! Check out www.thessdreview.com for our full report shortly!

1.472 Vcore ? welcome to the Intel barbecue
Actually no. I ran my delided 8700K at 1.5v just for test in games and it never went above 70c. For more stressful applications you could just set the power limit, would throttle down.
Thank you for the amazing tutorial :)
Thank you very much!!
5Ghz overclock not worth it at 1.472V Would rather go for 4,8/4,9ghz with cooler temps and less than 1.4V. I know its satisfying to reach that magical 5ghz clockspeed number but in your case you lost the silicon lottery or just dont have the optimal overclock settings.
Nice review! this motherboard have usb 3.0 header conector for case with usb 3.0 front panel?
inthezoneee two of them.
will same settings with i7-9700k work?
loadline to 1 and you need lower Vcore i think? 5 is for stock.
No problem thusfar...suggestions? I am always open to learn and admittedly not an OCr by trade. Gimme some ideas to make it better.
I'd start with minus offset, and try to find the limit where it posts to windows. The offset in Taichi works pretty funnily, cause you can either put + or - offset. I'm using offset 0 (auto) to run 5GHz with vcore of 1.36. -10 offset gives the same vcore, but I get bluescreen in Prime95 with AVX commands on. Maybe you should start with this video that my friend made. ua-cam.com/video/PJYHj2UX62c/v-deo.html&t
1.47V for 5ghz is epic crazy bro. You either have a really bad overclocking chip, or your are putting way to much voltage into it for 5ghz. Like runki said I would start trying to lower that Vcore. What LLC are you using?
4GB MEANS 4GB would you mind helping me with my overclocking? My computer stays running hot.
Do you have kingston hyperx predator 3000 RAM that runs normally at 3000 MHZ?
Yes sir... This is the system.. www.thessdreview.com/featured/z370-coffee-lake-build-makes-5ghz-oc-simple-intel-optane-adds-instant-startup/3/
Vcore 1.47 are you crazy mate ?? or what , max safe Vcore is 1.4 lower is better of course , I know that this CPU can survive Vcore 1.6 but with extreme ice cooling.
Strangely, if i do exactly what you do I get a blue screen immediately when booting into windows, but I can use the auto setting and it works... Watching CPUz it looks like the clock dips back to 4.3 occasionally but usually stays at 5.0.
How do I set the vcore to 1.3?
You can statically set the v core voltage in voltage settings
5ghz - 1.25v here... set the voltage to fixed instead of offset as your chip is running way to hot..
whats up Les i really enjoyed your video A+ work my friend. But i have a request of you. Could you please show me how to set up intel optane settings on a b360M itx motherboard please? even if you dont have that motherboard, the settings in the bios should relatively be the same correct? I really need your help on this matter as you are the only video I've seen with an optane module on an asrock mobo. thank you so much, i really appreciate the help
New subscriber. What were your temperatures? Thanks
i tried to oc my 8700k with exact same settings as urs. bt it crashed while testing in cinebench. it shows 1.442 vcore with max temp. though im using krakenx72 cooler. im new to overclocking. what can i do? is it a bad chip like my luck?
A.A.Raafiey Majumdar simply set it for 5 and leave all other settings to adjust themselves automatically. Works fine.
now much about focus much ..??
Hey which RAM are you using ?
Sorry for the dumb question. My actual question is - Will this motherboard go all the way up to 5ghz or above with G.Skill Trident Z 3200 Mhz 16GB (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR)
Jesus christ, that was super easy. Thank you for this video. You've just confirmed my decision on buying the Taichi board. I have the fractal celsius s24 already which is a beast of an AIO so it should be able to handle this around the same temps. I might not even have to delid which is very nice
It actually gets even easier...and safer. Do the forst step and leave the voltage at Auto. It does an even better job of controlling the voltage.
