Killed Nilsine on my evil vampire playthrough. She was in the temple of Talos late at night praying in front of the big statue. Told her about Miuri and proceeded to lethally drain her of all her blood and leave her shriveled up corpse, with all this happening in front of her god in his own temple no less. Good times
SvenTviking I played morally good characters before, eventually got bored of it and wanted to try something new so I did all the evil stuff I could (Sided with the Volkihars, joined the Dark brotherhood, invested into conjuration and necromancy, etc)
That's why its a good introduction to the Dark Brotherhood questline Yes, I know it isn't the first quest in the line, but look at how it progresses. You kill an evil woman in charge of an orphanage, are asked to kill one of three random people with considerably little information on them, as well as at least one of three more where there isn't much information about them. At this point, you've killed an evil woman and 2-6 nameless people with no impact in the game. Then you are told to kill Alain and optionally kill Nilsine, and that's when you're shown that your actions can have impact. You might not think twice, especially considering Alain is essentially a named bandit chief. But then you kill Nilsine and see what her mother does, and people may actually start to question their kills in the questline. Assuming, of course, its your first time playing and its a completely blind playthrough Also, the Blood on the Ice quest doesn't always start your first visit to Windhelm. In my most recent playthrough, I've been there a few times and the murder hasn't happened. But the first body you find isn't Friga. Friga is the butcher's first kill, already dead when you start the game, and that's the butcher's second kill (the quest leading up to the third kill, which you can prevent) Edit: apparently the butcher has more kills than that, but the point is that Friga is dead long before everything, it isn't her death that triggers Blood on the Ice
tubefan90000 if the 3rd butchers kill is a high elf then my game is bugged.. cuz i found her dead in the inn after having the butcher rounded up 😂.. also i did kill nilsine in this playtrough because it fit the character i imagine that when he found the mum dead he must have chuckled in his fist before walking off and just going on his merry way wich in this case was solving the whole butcher mystery because in his eyes there can only be one murderer that gets away (and wins everytime seeing as almost always when he kills a npc they see him as a friend somehow so they end up giving him money for killing them 😂 wich is only more fitting to the whole character as he kills and manipulates/steals his way trough skyrim..
@@litchtheshinigami8936 Did you get the Necromancer's Amulet? If not, there's more to the quest still. From what I read (I recently did the quest myself and was looking up the characters that die), Friga was killed before you play, and Hjerim has... 4 or 5 corpses in it, suggesting at least 3 others, with 2 of them named by other NPCs (a girl named Isabelle, mentioned by Adonato Leotelli, and Fjotli Cruel-Sea, mentioned by Niranye and Torsten in another quest). The quest starts with the death of Susanna the Wicked, and then depending on how you complete the quest, the next target is an Altmer named Arivanya, whom can be saved if you do it one way, the least common result, but will die and lead to the next and true finish if done the common way, with yet another random, female NPC risking death. Simply put, if you have the Necromancer's Amulet, you're done and something weird happened. If you have the Strange Amulet, you can still complete the quest by talking to the imprisoned butcher, but are bugged out of getting the Necromancer's Amulet. If you sold the Strange Amulet to Calixto as prompted, then upon completing the last part you will get the Necromancer's Amulet.
@@Kahadi yeah i got the amulet and had the butcher imprisoned but the lady who would be the 2nd one you find yourself was dead for me even after the butcher being locked up. i have already sold the amulet but the whole quest was finished.. that's why i think it's odd that she died despite this because the butcher quest was completely done then i walk into the inn and she was just there. it's strange because i've completed the full quest now i haven't spoken to the butcher but i would guess locking him up would stop the butchering seeing as he can't technically get out of that cell
The first time I played I made it into the city pretty early. There is something about entering the city between 7pm and 7am on a set number of times (3?) that will cause the quest to start, however once you reach a certain level in the game the quest starts automatically. I have tried this quest on SEVERAL occasions because in my first run though I was offered an opportunity to buy the Hall. (I have never started the Civil War yet... saw my future son-in-law playing it and it destroys the beauty of the game). I did not have enough money on me at that time so have tried numerous times by starting at a low level and just chopping enough wood to earn the money before going there and before the quest was triggered. It must have been a random glitch because i have never been able to make it happen again.
Quest the time of need: lie to sadia and give her to kematu and receive reward only to kill kematu later and receive another reward from sadia. I was surprised how low I could be just for some fictional golds.
@Nicholas Robuck I lie to her to draw her out, but then hide behind the stables and wait for Kematu to confront her, then backstab him and loot the gold, then talk to Sadia and get the reward. Double the gold, no calm necessary. Sneak really is easy mode in this game.
Yes, because literally killing an emperor and likely plunging the Empire into disarray as everyone clammers to be his successor isn't even more immoral
I killed Nilsene in my very first play through but when I talked to to Tova and she mentioned losing both her daughters, I felt so guilty. I’ve never killed Nilsene ever again in all my play throughs.
Dude, she didnt steal anything from the shatter-shields, Alain used her to get close to them. Plus, if u listen to Nilsine's dialogue, u can see that they didn't listen to Muiri or give her a chance. Nilsine didn't deserve to die, but should face some consequences for blindly throwing out Muiri without evidence or trial.
Ah, right. Because a "trial" is something you do when deciding you don't want to have someone around you anymore.... You're confusing a personal reaction with a criminal sentence.
And you think killing a daughter and causing the death of the mother is a good thing. I'm sorry, what? It's really sad that they didn't trust but she then chose to set a murder on people she claims to cared about. The fact that the just threw her out speaks volumes because in skyrim you can get hacked to pieces for killing a chicken.
Im so happy that you still make a videos of Skyrim, I always learn something new form you. Thanks my friend! Didn't know about that death tho... so sad. Make more videos of every single quest ♥
For me nilsine is already dead 😂 my character is the type that would kill someone if only they would look at him the wrong way.. so being in the dark brotherhood was perfect
Actually.. every time I go to Windhelm and I start the Blood On the Ice quest Nilsine always ends up dead because of Calixto or Vampires so I figured this happened regardless and saw this as fine. Seeing Muiri emotionally hurt and coming onto you for comfort made most go to her for marriage, to help her, plus she’s cute.. that or her ownership and extra money for the shop.
The corpse is Susanna the Wicked. She is not killed on your first visit to Windhelm and you can actually meet her in Candle Heath Hall and talk to her. I used a mod to make Susanna a follower to see what would happen with the Blood on Ice quest. Upon visiting Windhelm after a few in-game days she disappeared as a follower and her corps appeared starting the quest.
I noticed this in the same way, through the thieves guild quest. I love how Skyrim has ongoing stories that continue in the background, and are not forced onto the player. This is why the whole game is replayable over and over again. Great vid mate!
Congratulations on your first home! I remember clearly what that feels like, and although it’s been over two decades, I still remember that feeling of pride, fulfillment, and hope for the future. All the best to you and yours!
I usually take the family war hammer and once I've killed the sister, I place the hammer right next to or on top of her body. I know NPCs in the game don't give a shit but I like to imagine what that would've been like is it wasn't just a game and it was real. How would they react to their family's stolen hammer on top of their daughter's dead corpse? It's poetic I think. I honestly think something might be wrong with me because I didn't feel guilty at all for what happened to Tova. Anyway, It was the trash boyfriend who stole the hammer not her, she didn't know he was a bandit but despite them knowing her for years didn't believe her case? She had to move to a whole new city and start an entirely new life because of them, and the man who messed her life up. They were willing to throw away a life long relationship over a stolen hammer, which could've been easily retrieved. Sounds like a backstabbing family anyway.
The first time I received this quest I had already killed Alain Dufont just outside of Haemar's Shame as I was heading back toward Helgen. I had no idea who he was at the time. He just attacked us. So, we shredded him. I have not yet killed Nilsine. Thank you Danny :)
I was wondering why I wasn’t getting notifs then I realized I wasn’t subbed! I only had recommendations on my page ... I’ve literally been watching for like 2 years
It is almost as rare as a unicorn for me to learn something new about skyrim, so I must thank you for finding this little detail. It really shows that some quests have been given the proper care by their creators. It is these small details that gives a gameworld its true life.
When you become an assassin, morality is out the window. If a contract asks me to kill someone outside of the initial deal, and is willing to pay extra coin, what reason do I have to say no? *H A I L S I T H I S*
Yes thats my view. Im a paid assassin. Where do morals come into play? Although i guess as a soldier thats basically what i was (especially bc of what my missions were like in baghdad in 2006). I was paid to kill but it was only specific conditions that were met. So i guess if youre an assassin maybe youre doing it for justice and would therefor require some backstory to ensure youre only ventillating people that have it coming When i play tes im playing to have as much coin and stuff that catches my eye as possible so everything else is second including morals.
That’s not how Sithis works though? A follower of Sithis would only kill Alain because Muiri performed the Black Sacrament for him alone; he was the lone effigy, since Muiri explicitly says Hilcine wasn’t part of the deal. If you kill Hilcine when the proper rites weren’t conducted for her assassination, you’re just a common sellsword, not a Dark Brotherhood assassin. Astrid would be proud of you
I know this is late, but actually a dark brotherhood assassin is supposed to kill one man for one sacrament (you can kill more if it is necessary to achieve the goal). Astrid is the one that kills anyone just for money, but it is not the way of the night mother
Fun fact: I screwed myself out of the windhelm house bc I killed Nilsine before finishing the Blood on the Ice quest. Quest requires you to talk to Tova. Can’t talk to Tova, can’t finish the quest 🤷🏻♀️
Speaking of true endings, did you know if you don't help Cicero during the quest before you start the Dark Brotherhood, when you return to that guy's Farm him and his wife will be dead
The Dark Brotherhood quest line is my favorite by far; I think it not only has the best plot; but so many of the choices you make are more complex than they appear!
You know you've played a lot of skyrim where even when it's modded you can tell tge thumbnail is killing nilsa for muiri causing the mother to kill herself
I really appreciate all of your hard work on working with the skyrim series, I know it is a bit late for me but I finally got the chance to play it and everything you have is awesome thank you for this 😀
Damn.. I didn't realize how deep this story was. And so so sad. I never took the chance to kill Nilsine, because I thought that she wasn't a bad person. She just misunderstood what had happened with Muiri and through her grief from the loss of her sister, I didn't blame her and her family for the way they reacted. Plus, as a Dark Brotherhood assassin, I was contracted to kill Alain. The sacrament wasn't made for both Alain and Nilsine. Just Alain so that's how I went along. But seeing the full story, and how Tova took her life..reading (or in this case, listening to you reading it) her letter, truly broke my heart. The last line where she says, "...If not, then wherever my soul may end up, in Oblivion or elsewhere, has to be better than this terrible existence." Completely shattered me. I am glad I didn't go through with Muiri's second request. Because this family, although they were/are overreacting about Muiri being involved with what Alain did, do not deserve what Muiri planned to do with Nilsine. And Tova did not deserve to have her other daughter being taken over a petty revenge. Thank you for making this video. Now I know for a fact not to take Muiri's 2nd request with my future characters.
I beg to differ. The family deserved all of it. It's easy to look only at them and think "oh dear poor people" but look at Muiri. She was in such a good place, she had a boyfriend she was planning to marry, she had great friends she would consider family. Then in one fell swoop it's all uprooted at once. It turned out her boyfriend never loved her, it was just a ruse to rob her friends, and along with that sudden betrayal her friends turn on her without so much as a word. People she knew her whole life. Rejected over something so superficial as a warhammer that can be easily replaced or reclaimed in events that she had no knowledge of our control over. I don't know about you but I'll use the poison and a black soul gem I both Alain and Nilsine and use the mother as a dead thrall, however long it would last.
Dude. Back a few years, I did this quest, but didnt know it would set off an event like this. I felt utterly crushed, with the guilt of knowing, that I made her kill herself. That I brought so much Guilt and sorrow upon a mother who was already sinking from the loss of one daughter, And here I contributed to the next loss, and a third, unintentionally. I was 100's of saves past the file, so I could not undo my guilt ridden and imorral action. Though it may be a game, and not real life, Life and the sentimentality of life(ves) holds meaning between interaction. And even if we never had any true action with the mother, the note is undenyably heart breaking. The guilt may not be as forceful as in a game, but in real life, a loss is a loss. No load can save whats really lost.

This is why the best moral decision I found in a Bethesda game was the one in Fallout 4 with the mole rat antidote. Gray moral decisions don't mean much in modern games, people play good or evil for fun without consequences. But with the mole rat antidote giving the cure to Austin means you have a permanent hit to your own health (and yeah I know you can get around it). This makes the decision real. I usually play that and suffer the hit, and it makes me feel like I earned getting the overseer guardian at a ridiculously cheap price.
Actually that body is Suzanne the Wicked from the tavern. You get one chance to meet her before Blood on the Ice starts as it's triggered on your second visit to Windhelm. Friga never spawns in the game. She's just mentioned.
15:54 um...SHE didn't steal it. Alain Dufont used her to get close to the Shatter-Shields and steal the weapon himself. She was manipulated. She was a victim just like the Shatter-Shields and got blamed by the people she tought of as being like family without a chance to prove her innocence. The only blame that can be put on her is for the contracts she put on Alain and Nilsine's heads. Alain got what her deserved, and while the Shatter-Shields treated Muiri very unfairly and deserved some retribution, the assassination of one of them is a bit extreme.
I could never have made the choice to kill Nilsine. Even as an Assassin, I could never deprive a grieving mother of her last living daughter while she is still mourning the first that fell to a killer far more sinister than I.
I played BDO and jumped on a ship that ended up bringing me into the middle of the ocean. I got stranded. I logged out there and haven't played since. On another note, I'm binge watching all of your videos. They're awesome.
at 16.00 you say that she stole the weapon ? I'm finding this is the first I've heard of it as I thought Alaine used her to gain access to Shatter-Shields house. I can't find anything implicating her as a an accomplice. great work as usual sir !
Don't compliment him on that, he's wrong. Just like how he was wrong about the identity of the body from the "blood on the ice" quest. Muiri just gave Alain access to the house that he stole from. You don't get "emotionally manipulated" into stealing things.
Don't forget that you can also destroy the trade of the Shatter-Shield family in the quest "Rise in the East", as Torbjorn has recruited the Blood Horkers to help his trade. So you can take their trade to this family too :D
On another note, shatter-shield is a really neat surname. Sounds like a history of great warriors who, you know, were so strong they would like shatter... shields in combat.
I thought the body you find in wildhelm was suzanna the wicked (or something like that). Other fun fact is the head of the shattershield household is conspiring with pirates (rise in the east); so if you want to delude yourself you can take that in to consideration if you want to do the extra killing. I personally tend not to ... but whatever.
If you kill Alain before the dark brotherhood quest line, Muiri seems upset to hear that he is already dead. She never even mentioned killing Nilsene after that. She paid me and walked away.
Ackshually.... Friga was the previous victim. Friga was the one who was killed when Alain and Multi got together, that's why they were mourning. The victim you find is actually Susanna the Wicked, a barmaid at Candlehearth Hall.
Thank you for the video, I really appreciate you acknowledge and explain this Muri situation. This makes me love Skyrim even more for the length and depth of each decision the player made
He didn't do a very good job. Muiri never stole anything, it was all Dufant. Furthermore, the body from that other quest had nothing to do with the shatter-shields nor is it the first time you visit the city that you encounter it. You can talk to her before it happens (she's a waitress at the bar there)
your'e assuming muiri was there when the heirloom was stolen. it seems that she was just a way for her boyfriend to meet the shatter-shields and the rest was on him. she just got accused by association.
Should also mention about BDO if you sign up now you get 14 days free instead, and if you log in for 7 days and get to level 50 on one character you get to keep the game permanently.
Can you believe i basically just found out about skyrim..this kid a few years ago told me he always played it and i always pictured some silly game where you hit a ball at the sky or something..i was so dumb and im ashamed of it..but also kinda glad i never played it cuz now im playing it on VR and im like 20 hours in and every second is mind blowing..im having the best gaming experience of my life
You made a mistake becuse if you join the reward Is much higher money wise and you get jarrin root which you Can keep and insted kill the emperor with a weapon jarrin root alows you to Make a poison that does over 3000 dmg to health rrgaedless of armro
Either way, whether you join or not, you can get the Dark Brotherhood armor. By either looting it off of Astrid's corpse after killing her in the shack or joining
Most of the characters I play would consider killing that many people outside of combat too high of a price for the rewards you get if you join. Better to just kill the entire lot of cutthroats and be done with it!
I remember finding Tova's body, also during a Thieves Guild quest. Man, I felt bad. Narfi I could explain away. Not the final outcome of Muiri's contract
I love how ESO tries to make you feel bad about making certain choices, and then there's me. Which after doing this quest and deciding to loot their house I sorta laughed when I read the note, and then set the body on fire and continued to loot everything. Plus if there's free decent loot from killing someone, then killing them is the best option imo.
I may see good in the DB and even in Vampires, but this? Even if you could get a truly unique item with a unique texture and everything, I’d sooner steal it off Muri’s ice cold cadaver like how she stole Aegisbane. If possible, I would even return Aegisbane to the Shattershields! And that’s saying something coming from me, I’m a collector! But if I could still see Aegisbane on the back of Mr. Shattershield, well I know it’s in good hands. Perhaps anything is possible with a few KB of modding… I like “Royal Armory” bc it gives a lot of prominent characters their own truly unique weapons and items. And I don’t even feel the compulsion to steal them half the time! LOL it’s just cool to see my favorite NPCs with some unique things of their own for once.
When I was a kid I found Tova dead in her house and thought it was nothing. But seeing this I feel REALLY bad that I killed Nilsine but it's good to see that you explained this. Except you called Friga "Susanna"
I feel no remorse for killing them. They tossed out Muiri because “robbed them.” But she didn’t. She was manipulated. Muiri got payback for getting incorrectly treated like crap, by killing Nilsine. Tova’s suicide isn’t Muiri’s fault. And WE actually did the killing, so....
This was really, really good! But too late for my character. My Assassin is played as a stone cold killer and didn't really care. But knowing the whole story was good, for me personally. Thanks!!

SvenTviking I played morally good characters before, eventually got bored of it and wanted to try something new so I did all the evil stuff I could (Sided with the Volkihars, joined the Dark brotherhood, invested into conjuration and necromancy, etc)
@@TheFrostflame12 Savage
My gods... the evil is off the charts and, dare I say, over 9000.
That's why its a good introduction to the Dark Brotherhood questline
Yes, I know it isn't the first quest in the line, but look at how it progresses. Assuming, of course, its your first time playing and its a completely blind playthrough
Also, the Blood on the Ice quest doesn't always start your first visit to Windhelm. In my most recent playthrough, I've been there a few times and the murder hasn't happened. But the first body you find isn't Friga. Friga is the butcher's first kill, already dead when you start the game, and that's the butcher's second kill (the quest leading up to the third kill, which you can prevent)
Edit: apparently the butcher has more kills than that, but the point is that Friga is dead long before everything, it isn't her death that triggers Blood on the Ice
tubefan90000 if the 3rd butchers kill is a high elf then my game is bugged.. cuz i found her dead in the inn after having the butcher rounded up 😂.. also i did kill nilsine in this playtrough because it fit the character i imagine that when he found the mum dead he must have chuckled in his fist before walking off and just going on his merry way wich in this case was solving the whole butcher mystery because in his eyes there can only be one murderer that gets away (and wins everytime seeing as almost always when he kills a npc they see him as a friend somehow so they end up giving him money for killing them 😂 wich is only more fitting to the whole character as he kills and manipulates/steals his way trough skyrim..
One of the randoms (the crazy dude without a house... I forgot the name)
Has an interesting quest
It must have been a random glitch because i have never been able to make it happen again.

she also commits suicide later
I already killed Alain waaay before the quest. The dialogue made me smile when I had to talk to Muiri.
I watched this through knowing full well what the result was.
ESO, the body you referenced around the 9:45 mark is Susana the Wicked at the start of the Blood on Ice quest.
Skyrim modding community never dies, so glad you back on skyrim you're the best
Dude, she didnt steal anything from the shatter-shields, Alain used her to get close to them. Plus, if u listen to Nilsine's dialogue, u can see that they didn't listen to Muiri or give her a chance. Nilsine didn't deserve to die, but should face some consequences for blindly throwing out Muiri without evidence or trial.
Yeah, why does he say she stole something? It's heavily implied that Alain does all the thievery
It's a shame you didn't have some speech challenge where you could repair the friendship. That would have balanced things out better.
Im so happy that you still make a videos of Skyrim, I always learn something new form you. Thanks my friend!

15:30 “Don’t take anything for granted in life, nothing lasts forever.” Damn…
Actually.. every time I go to Windhelm and I start the Blood On the Ice quest Nilsine always ends up dead because of Calixto or Vampires so I figured this happened regardless and saw this as fine. Seeing Muiri emotionally hurt and coming onto you for comfort made most go to her for marriage, to help her, plus she’s cute.. that or her ownership and extra money for the shop.
ESO, that's not Friga's body. She was killed before Alain stole the clan.

Take it a step further, have the hammer soaked in poison deal the killing blow. Then leave it bloodied on the body. Ultimate poetic justice.
The first time I received this quest I had already killed Alain Dufont just outside of Haemar's Shame as I was heading back toward Helgen. I had no idea who he was at the time. He just attacked us. So, we shredded him.

So i guess if youre an assassin maybe youre doing it for justice and would therefor require some backstory to ensure youre only ventillating people that have it coming
When i play tes im playing to have as much coin and stuff that catches my eye as possible so everything else is second including morals.

Love your Skyrim videos so much. I'd actually like to see you do a Red Dead Redemption video.
Your accent would make it even better.
It’s been so long since you’ve uploaded! I’m so happy you still are!
Its a video game. Not real life. They werent any more alive before you made their hp = 0

You should make a video that has all the clips of you saying " get rekt son"

15:54 um...SHE didn't steal it. Alain Dufont used her to get close to the Shatter-Shields and steal the weapon himself. She was manipulated. She was a victim just like the Shatter-Shields and got blamed by the people she tought of as being like family without a chance to prove her innocence. The only blame that can be put on her is for the contracts she put on Alain and Nilsine's heads. Alain got what her deserved, and while the Shatter-Shields treated Muiri very unfairly and deserved some retribution, the assassination of one of them is a bit extreme.

I missed your comment when I made mine, we basically both said the same thing.
I found Tova's corpse during Blood on the Ice.

You can talk to her before it happens (she's a waitress at the bar there)
Tbh tho Tova and Nilsene deserve it after they kicked Muiri out
your'e assuming muiri was there when the heirloom was stolen. it seems that she was just a way for her boyfriend to meet the shatter-shields and the rest was on him. she just got accused by association.

Perhaps anything is possible with a few KB of modding…
I like “Royal Armory” bc it gives a lot of prominent characters their own truly unique weapons and items. And I don’t even feel the compulsion to steal them half the time! LOL it’s just cool to see my favorite NPCs with some unique things of their own for once.
