Iam a bit confused about patterns of A and U since for U I got 3n-(n-1) and for a I got 6n-2*(n-1)
edit- n stands for number of shapes

@@mathsmedium basically we had homework of matchstick pattern of which we got A and U, For U first pattern took 3 matches the 2nd took 5 and so on 2 matchsticks kept increasing so the formula I came with was 3n-n-1 and for a I got 6n-2(n-1) whenever i asked someone about u they didn’t knew and when I asked for a they thought I meant to say 4n-1

I got your question.
Please let me explain here.. in simple way...(thankyou in advance)
Step1-"L" for this pattern we need 2 matchsticks,
Step2-"L L" for this we needed 2X2 matchsticks,
Step3-"L L L" for this pattern we needed 2x3 matchsticks.
Similarly if you want "n" patterns of forming letter L , with this way we needed "2n" matchsticks.

So here pattern is increasing but the no.of matchsticks needed to make L shape is constant that is "2"....
So 2 is common.. for all patterns,but the formation of L pattern is repeated no.of times.
