Watch next → Better Than Canvas? I Tried Squeegee Painting on WOOD: ua-cam.com/video/lsieJUcxKbw/v-deo.html I tried this fast and easy paint dragging technique and loved it, although I did have some problems with it, too. Have you tried it? What do you do with the excess paint?
Make a journal with your leftover papers, and when the journal is full, put it in the bin where most journals belong :). And the lines in acrylic paint are often because of the brush, not the paint. Filbert-shaped are supposed to not give lines.
As a retired window-cleaner with 20+ years of performing sqeegee artistry with all sizes of squeegees at all sorts of angles, do you think I would be a natural at this? 😄Thanks for the video. Very good and I will return to it when I start.
You just gave me a great idea. I’m not a painter; straight line baffle me, but I believe I can do this. I’m just about to turn 70, and have too many life pictures in all different sizes, which I need to reframe, hard to find frame sizes, so perhaps do something like this, and add my lovely b/w & color pics to a few of these I’ll paint myself. You’ve inspires me, and perhaps I’ll share some on a new channel. Thank you, darling, for the idea and sharing your talent with us.
What a fun technique to try! I've never seen this before. I love how affordable this is. I also appreciate how you explained everything step by step and your honesty throughout the process. The 1st one totally does look like a group of people. I also like how you curved the second pull. Art is all about experimenting. Thanks for the inspiration!
I think you did a great job of trying it and I like your comments on what you might’ve done the next time. If you really want to get rid of the canvas weave, you could do gesso first, although the canvases are usually pre gessoed. I think in the big painting, the smaller blobs look like children in the crowd. The smaller painting to me looks like birds. I like both of them.
How fun - will have to give this a try. Think it might be easier to use smaller squeeze bottles with paint that's mixed with a pour paint recipe. I have some Folkart Dot paints I could try too but they are a bit thicker than a pour paint recipe. Then again I could probably put down a layer of clear gesso or other medium before applying paint. So many options. Thanks for the inspiration.
Wow, your acrylic squeegee painting turned out amazing! 🎨✨ I’m definitely hooked just from watching your video. The techniques you used are so creative, and the results are stunning. Thanks for sharing your experience-I’m excited to try this method myself! 🌟🖌
Nice---- I would like to try this with a prepared red background, maybe scarlet or tomato colored, and then when that's all dry I'll pour several droplets or squiggles of black and also white over it in sort of a haphazard way. I'll squeegee the b&w paints (down or up) across the red bg, and that might look interesting. Maybe after it's done and dried, one could add a few small details by hand (via a small brush or Q-Tip or even a fingertip) in a golden hue or bright yellow to give a 4th color. Sp basically you just have a few very strong colors. I want to try a lot ... squeegeeing paints horizontally instead of vertically, etc. We are only limited by our imaginations and creativity. Thanks for sharing this. Good video and pleasant narration.
Artists often leave parts of the canvas not covered with paint intentionally to create negative space, so for me it doesn't really look unfinished rather, creating a visual balance and harmony within the artwork. By paying attention to the negative space, artists can create a sense of depth, contrast, and tension in their compositions. I liked your squeegee painting, with the people, in a crowd/circle.
I can tell you what to do with them. Buy gluevarnish and add another color 50\50 mixed with the varnish. Then cover the paper entirely with the transparent mix. This makes the paper get a uniform shade again, with some variations. Now draw with a chalk. Then cover with pure varnishglue to seal the painting. Anyway great upload, thx!
What a fun craft! And, I have 2 or 3 canvasses that I painted a couple years ago in sort of an abstract thing so I will just reuse them by painting a color over them and then doing the squeegee technique! ❤
I'm in the screenprinting industry and we do something similar. With each subsequent pass of the squeegee the pattern would change slightly making no two garments the same.
Great little video Ivy. I think they both look impressive. You didn't dilute that paint at all right..? It's a cool simple technique that gives surreal results. Subbed. Thankyou.
The scraped off paint on water colour paper is far more interesting than the over worked finished pieces, also a very light scraping technique can produce strange, unique results. Artist Gerhard Richter used this technique on very large masterpieces.
I think you can do it again. You just did it once I would put more pain on it again and try it one more time on the same painting the more you lay it I think the better it’ll look. I definitely going to try this. Thank you for making the video.
If you don't like seeing the canvas texture, then you need to properly prime the top with gesso. Not just painting gesso on... but using a scraper to push gesso in low spots while keeping surface flat. You can youtube a video on making canvas as smooth as paper.
I used to print a lot on machines that used squeeges attached, now if you look carefully on the edge of the squeegee you will find on the edge of the squeegee you will find one edge smooth for when you want an ordinary print but if you turn the squeegee over you will find the edge is sharp for more sharper picture. Try it out and you will definitely see a difference.

awesome, just awesome
I will try to paint like you. 👍🏻 .
It's simple but beautiful. Will def try it❤ Thanks

You would probably be the Picasso of this art form!
Let us know how it goes ☺️

I think the bottom of the 1st one you did makes it look like their reflections in a body of water underneath, super cool!

I totally agree🙂 I love how she explains how and what and why during the process and that we hear her thoughts about the results❤
I immediately saw a group of people. It reminded me of busy people walking around an NYC street .
TBH, looks as good as most modern art in museums to me.
Thank you for sharing what you are doing and why! The pictures are amazing! Beautiful!
Yes it does look like a group of people 🥰 Love all the colours you used, fantastic 🌹🌹🌹🦋🦋🌺🌼☘️☘️
Love this technique, and how honest you are.
The left over paint on white sheet would make beautiful wrapping paper!
Or scrapbooking paper

I like the paper that you dragged the extra paint on to.
I like this. I love painting, crafting, beading, etc. It’s so relaxing 😌. It turned out very pretty. Thanks for sharing.
so love your honesty ... especially the end. With the left over paper.
THE PAINT ON THE WATERCOLOUR PAPER LOOKS BETTER THAN THE CANVAS in my opinion😊
The watercolor paper is less textured. Maybe that's why?
YES I LOVE IT TOO 😂
The fall off is beautiful if you’re ready to catch it.
Love your sense of humor ❤ and your enthusiasm for creating 😊
Yes, as you pulled the scraper across the people appeared, amazing 😊
Try a couple coats of gesso to smooth out that surface. You'll get less of that canvas coming through and the coverage will be better. Very cool!
Original and fascinating approach to making art.
Very creative!! Nicely done 👍👍👍👍
I liked the first squeegee one. Thanks for sharing what could go wrong so that I can be more careful when trying it,

Yeah, probably. I have a pour art kit, but I'm saving that for a pour art video, so I didn't want to open it for this.
Fabulous! Thank you for sharing!
I think they turned out really great! thanks for sharing your art!
This is so cool!! It really looks like a group of people!! Can’t wait to try this method! Thx for sharing!

The canvas texture looks good - I like it!
I enjoyed this video and your narration.
This is great! This is the sort of thing I could do with my students; it’s so accessible. ❤️
Your canvases are beautiful.
I need something blue for my bathroom but I don’t have money for a nice piece . Thank you for this !! 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
Fun play! Thanks for sharing ❤

Stunning

Exactly!
@@sarimaaret6845 in that case it should be painted white first otherwise you're left with a shitty dull texture from the canvas
@@busitup This is exactly what I meant. Leaving the bare canvas showing makes it look unfinished to me.
These are lovely 💝 very enjoyable to watch 🥰 big hugs!
It’s a nice technique.
Love the way u readily accepted yr mistake and made it sound so good 😍😂
Those are great. I might have to try that thank you so much.
Neat I will show my 9 year old grandson who is quite creative
What fun!!~~I must try this.

I’ve done the same
Todella hienoa jälkeä 😍😍
Thanks for your tutorial ❤❤❤
Brilliant idea
That's really cool
That's a really cool technique.
Lily, your voice is so ASMR ♥
Is still an acrylic paint picture I like it. I paint acrylic paint pictures too. But I’m learning from you people are very professional. 👍🏻🌷 .
I'm in the screenprinting industry and we do something similar. With each subsequent pass of the squeegee the pattern would change slightly making no two garments the same.
This is a cool method thankyou for sharing
❤
Looks very good

Thanks! No diluting of the paint.
Even with the canvas showing, it looks good.
Explaining helps a lot❤❤ thank you so much
Glad it was helpful, thanks! 😊
Looks great !!!
Gorgeous ❤ you're a gifted artist 🥰
👁👁 excellent…👏👏
Love it!
Thanks!!
I’ve got to try this!
Thanks, that technic allows you make a crowd of people.
what a great idea
With that voice this an automatic like.

Very interesting technique. 😊
Nice! I see penguins 🙂
Glad you’re hooked on this…not for me. Have you tried hydro dipping with spray paints? The effects are really neat with fine lines and swirls.
You could try using some flood or floetrol to make the paint more fluid
I actually have pouring medium in a pour art set I've never used, so I could try that for the next one.
The first one looks to me like a group of women wearing headscarves, with children. Very beautiful!
I think you can do it again. You just did it once I would put more pain on it again and try it one more time on the same painting the more you lay it I think the better it’ll look. I definitely going to try this. Thank you for making the video.
Love this idea! ❤
Thanks, Lynn!
Looks nice
Very cool 🤙
So creative!!! Thank you ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Glad you liked it! 💜
Very pretty! ❤
So cool❤looks like people standing
Can i do this with oil colors?
I haven't tried it with oils, but I think it works with them, too.

👀❤ I LOVE IT!!!
If you use different size squeegee like smaller ones, you could circle around the canvas.
this is so cool! thank you!
simple however beautiful
Very symmetrical dotting!
I can see why you like this, very effective 😊❤
