Yes. The liaisons are very important if you want to speak a proper french. There are exceptions, as usual, but the rule is: when a word ends with a mute consonant and is followed by a word beginning with a vowel, you stick both words. Ex: je dois étudier (je doiZétudier). Il faut avoir (il fauTavoir).

Il faut means it’s necessary, it has to be done!
Besoin de is need with the conjugation of avoir,
      J’ai besoin de
      Tu as besoin de
      Il/elle/on a besoin de
      Nous avons besoin de
      Vous allez besoin de
      Ils/elles ont besoin de 5:05

Fantastic video lessons thanks a million Alexa, you have sorted out lots of my many many problems with French
Shouldn't .....IL A FALLU QUE TU MANGES ....translate to - ,,,,,, you had to eat????
As in engish one doesn't say.......... it was neccessary that you eat ,.........but 'ate'...... as this is the past tense of eat? and
'you had to eat' or......... 'one had to eat' (more formal or posh version ) is what is normally used in english
'it was necessary that you' is not in common parlance

Thank you so much for this video. I’m still confused in situations like, «il faut faire les courses.» How does the person you are speaking to know if you are referring to he, we, you or I need to do the shopping?

    • @iparipaitegianiparipaitegi4643
      @iparipaitegianiparipaitegi4643 2 роки тому

Il faut faire les courses = impersonal way to say: shopping must be done/is needed. If you want to tell someone to do the shopping, tell him/her: tu dois aller faire les courses.

You can. But less for a recommandation/conseil. Falloir is more about an obligation. A real necessity. For a piece of advice, I’d say: tu devrais (conditional). You also say: il faudrait (conditional form of falloir). Il faudrait is nicer than the strong: il faut!

Il faut un emploi has no meaning in french. Il faut is a general obligation. Better if you say: il a besoin d’un travail (un emploi) pour des taisons financières (for financial reasons). When you say: il faut un emploi, we expect something following. You could maybe say: il LUI faut un emploi pour….

But is IL FAUT really a verb? the word Necessary in English is not a Verb is it? Necessary is an Adjective in English because it describes something that is happening or needs to happen. Also, there is already a French word for necessary isn' t there? I would love you to please expand on the use of the word Falloir if possible Alexa. Merci.
