bella actually gets her shield ability from her dad. edward says he can't read specific thoughts from charlie, just basic ideas and concepts.
Oh yeah true, I forgot about that from the book! 😝
i also remember edward mentioning how renee's thoughts were so LOUD. i wonder it it was a narcissist thing or if maybe that's where reneesme got it from.
@@_amr15 i remember that about renee too, but i couldn't remember where i read that so i couldn't verify it lol
I really liked this addition to Midnight Sun, but tbh, it did feel like a bit of a plot hole that the author must have decided on later. Because there is no indication of this throughout the main series. He definitely has moments where he seems to know exactly what Charlie is thinking.
One example I can think of off the top of my head is when Edward is chuckling about the fact that Charlie is about to have a birds and the bees talk with Bella. If all he could see is vague emotions, he would just sense that Charlie is uneasy and feels embarrassed or something, so it wouldn't make any sense for him to be chuckling about that.
I also don't see any reason at all for Edward to be experiencing that throughout the whole series and never telling Bella about it. I feel like Stephenie just decided later that that would be an interesting thing to do, so she did it, plot holes be dammed.
Which I'm not necessarily complaining about, because it was a fun addition. I just wish she had decided that sooner so it would be more consistent.
Just called my “sensitive” shield friend to tell her I love her and to come over whenever so I can cook her breakfast and let her nap. Thank you for the reminder ❤
Aww that’s so sweet. I’d love a friend to do this for me 💙
That's so sweet 🥺
*I'm a shield, and on behalf of your friend, THANK YOU!!!!!!!* 🤗🥰
The only reason that Irina and her sisters were spared was because none of them had any idea about their mom’s immortal child. Simply knowing about one and not immediately reporting it was a death sentence with the Voltori. If she didn’t report the Cullens then her entire family would be threatened by it because they are “cousins.” The voltori wanted proof that Bella was turned so they were going to cross paths within the year and there was a strong likelihood that renessme would be discovered. She would not be able to hide knowing about the child from Aro who would be able to hear all of her thoughts or possibly be tortured for information by Jane. In her eyes the Cullens already sentenced themselves to death but it was a matter of saving her family in Alaska from their fate by being the ones to turn the Cullens in or almost certainly dying with them. It also takes her a few days of internal battle before she finally makes up her mind to turn them in. It’s also why she’s so quick to defend them at the end and accept death for her mistake so the rest of her family may survive.
Also Benjamin’s maker being terrified of him being discovered partially has to do with survival because one of the cousins of the Cullens mentions how when Aro discovers someone with an ability he wants soon after the clan is guilty of a crime and the gifted individual is pardoned and “offered” a position while the rest of the clan is executed.
Great comment
I'll add to that, that Amun already lost Demetri to the Volturi so he didn't want to also lose Benjamin to them.
The more I discover the lore of twilight, the more I wish Stephanie Meyer would write different stories about the volturi and the other characters and just Edward and Bella to their happily ever after. Instead of twilight from Edward's eyes, let us see Twilight from the eyes of the Volturi or the other vamps, or better still, just more stories in the extended universe.
@tasmiatahia_write_dream_change she was gonna (that's why no one died at the end of the series), but then someone from her entourage leaked her work so she felt discouraged/disgusted because of that. Then, when she wanted to come back to it, fifty shades came out, then fifty shades from Grey's point of vue. That's why we got the Edward version 10 years later.
@@tealhiid I feel really sorry for Stephanie Meyer. She's had so much hate for writing something people enjoyed and then to have her trust desecrated like this is heartbreaking. I really hope she gets back to writing more stories in this universe though.
The other frustrating thing about how having a new baby was depicted is that Rosalie or Jacob were always on stand by to care for the baby, and Bella and Edward could run around whenever they saw fit. I think it frustrates me because sometimes young parents who need babysitters assume that another person, who happens to be free, is also readily available. Free time does not equal availability.
That's part of the fantasy for me! 🎉
period
I loved Bella as a vampire. She had an amazing glow up, both physically and mentally. Physically I see that she became better looking, for example she rocked her new closet, she looked like a badass. Mentally, she also became a badass. She became so much more assertive, confident, happy and powerful while still being this caring shield. One of the best transformations.
Nah she was still fugly and ultra regular.
I just think Bella was a knockout as a human, and even though she was hot as a vampire, I think she was stunning as a human. Her eyes had a lot to do with it. Eclipse was her best look, even with the wig
So Amun created Benjamin especially to be a force against the Volturi. Something that is not in the books/movie, but that was explained in the guide, is that Amun also created Demetri (the one fighting Edward at the end), the tracker of the Volturi. Amun lost Demetri to the Volturi because of Chealsea, a vampire who can affect your relationships and loyalty. This is why Amun was so against Benjamin being out because he already lost his way of getting revenge on the Volturi for the decimation on his clan once.
I love Bella's transformation from insecure and self-deprecating girl who always needs protecting to the strong confident vampire who ends up protecting and saving everyone 😊
You deserve your followers sis 💐😭‼️ this series had my eyes and ears so hooked! was too amazing 😻 thank you
She absolutely does 🩷
Kinda sad to see the end of this series too 💔 It’s like the end of the movies all over again. I too was shaken up by the fake-out ending in theatres. The whole audience lost it lol. I love Bella as a Vampire. It really does seem like she was born to become one. Her strange ability to be immune to so many magical vampire powers, especially the ones that could harm her, set the tone of her manifesting her powers as being a “shield” later on. Such a cool concept.
Thank you for sharing your insights into love & relationships. It gives much to consider about our own love lives 💙💙
I would love for you to do a breakdown on the Divergent series by Veronica Roth. Tris and Four are both such great characters and I think you’d love them as a therapist. They have a lot of great things to dig into.
Seeing this video up is bittersweet because on one hand I’m excited to hear what you say but on the other, I’m bummed it’s over.
It’s bittersweet for me too 🥺
Just an interesting thought when thinking about Edward, vampires in the twilight universe stop developing at the age that they were turned. That is why child vampires were such a problem. So, Edward’s behavior and decisions could be looked at through the lens of a 17 year old’s development where he would not have developed his prefrontal cortex as that is the age that he became a vampire
I loved this reaction series, Steph. As a writer, I found it very instructive and as a reader, it was fascinating to peel back the layers on this popular story. I would love to see you do this for more popular young adult media, especially books (or books to movie/TV adaptations). My top list would be:
- The Hunger Games (esp. With new movie on its way)
- Shadow and Bone / Six of Crows (The Crows are a goldmine, trust me)
- The Kissing Booth
- Never have I ever (not book to tv but it's worth it).
Ps: I love the earring 😍😍😍
I honestly CANNOT WAIT for you to do LOVE IS BLIND S5 cuz girllllll, you'd have gotten your money's worth if this cast were your clients lol
I’m still trying to figure out how I’m going to organize it! It’s all over the place
Love that insight about shields and the character arc! She literally has to take care of herself first before taking care of anyone else. Great point.
I love love LOVE that you covered the Twilight saga ❤ Thank you! I enjoyed this so so much!!
Practical Magic could be a cool movie to analyze (not to mention it is perfect for the spooky season)☺️
Ooo good one!
“You can’t pour from an empty cup” is another good metaphor
Everyone in the theater was crying during the last fight scene. Then you hear the sound of relief when we found out it was a vision.
The fact Bella had a power became obvious to me the moment we find out that vampires can have special abilities they enhance from their human lives, yet it took 4 books and another gifted vampire to explain it to them when they're supposed to be so much smarter than humans. Even Bella is descibed as super smart, she figures things out so fast yet she doesn't realize she's gifted and only thinks she's weird. Insecurities really warp your sense of self a lot
Honestly I think analyzing Sam and Ronnie from the Jersey shore would be great educationally
Yes!
That’s what I thought about Irena too. It seemed like she was terrified of not following the rules and maybe even thought that the Volturi would somehow know if she didn’t tell what she saw.
I loooooved watching your whole analysis of the twilight saga and all your insight but damn all your fits and jewelry have been poppin 👍🏼🙏🏼
I felt like Irena told on the Collins because she wanted to get back at the Collins because she felt like it was their fault that Laurent died. I feel like she was in her own way getting justice for her man's death.
Mmmmmm yesss! Bringing that issue full circle!
That wasn't why, but it's understandable how people get there. The reason why is that knowing about an immortal child and not reporting it would result in the death of your whole clan. The only reason her and her sisters didn't die the first time was because their mother kept it a secret from them. Since the Volturi wanted proof that Bella was a vampire they would definitely come across the child. So to save her coven she ultimately decided to tell the Volturi after days of wrestling with the idea. That's why she was so quick to take the blame at the end, because she thought it would save her sister.
This was quite unexpected. I really enjoyed this video and the series.
you should do the series YOU
I actually did a video about season 3! We’re still watching this season lol. Super late I know
LOL that's kl still, how do you avoid spoilers though?@@StephAnya
@@StephAnya I can't find the video you made about season 3. Which playlist is it in?
I love the battle scene.
Caroline dying was so shocking.
Also, I love that Bella was a shield as well. She was always the protected throughout the saga and in the end she got to repay that favor being the protector.
First of all, you look stunning as always! I can't wait to hear your take on this movie 😊
I loved this series! You are so much more thoughtful and wise than the author...love hearing your takes on it
I didn’t know in the end that I would be a shield, but yet I am. I’ve had a few women at my job tell me how wise I am for my age and I’m 22. I’ve been called strong all my life but really I’ve always felt as though I did my best to ignore it, act as though nothing was wrong. I’ve been strong because I had to, most don’t get the chance to redeem themselves or change for the better after whatever their familial or traumas they’ve gone through or are slowly getting out of. I’ve fortunately came out of the eye of the storm and I get to see the rainbow at the end but I have been dealing with my triggers, episodes and trauma responses. I do my best to not let it happen but the only thing I can do is to breathe or sometimes I listen to music or my boyfriend comforts me in any way he can.
Loved your whole series on this! Spent the whole day watching! Bravo 🤩🤩
Aw thank you!!
This was a great series Steph. Your insight is always nuanced and well-rounded, I learn so much from your videos. I can't wait to see what you put out next, whatever it is I'm excited. Thank you, sending love forom South Africa.
This was a great series. I loved every part. You're really amazing!
Also I've always been a twilight fan and I'll continue to be one forever.
Thank you so much!
I have been waiting for this video for the longest time!! From what i can remember from the books, Irina brought up the Rennesmee/inmortal child conversation for pride and revenge: in her mind, the Cullens killed Laurent (her partner) and another conversation that was taking place on the vampire world was that the Cullen clan was growing exponentially, which could mean that they wanted to substitute the Volturi and take their power, which Carlisle explains that it was never the intention of approaching friends and family from other countries.
Hope it helps! ❤
Omg what a ride. As a once upon a time die hard fan on this series who have been watching people breaking down the psychology aspect of it for years now, I just love how your video series on it was this detailed and percise. Thank you for this, now I'm definitely a fan of your work❤
Also, it would be WONDERFUL if you chose to make videos on Hunger games. I still love that series and there's alot to talk about about that story, I mean it has everything in it and the charecter design is fantastic. Fingers crossed for that to happen!
I really enjoyed your analyses over these films/books! Again, it's so special seeing that from the perspective of someone who liked Twilight as a teenager!
Thank you sooo much for this series. I love listening to your perspective on the shows I’m currently watching or loved as a teen. I can’t wait for your season 5 love is blind videos. And I’ll look forward to the new series you’re going to start.. I was obsessed with the twilight saga, the hunger games and the divergent series. 1/3 ✅
Stephhhhh!!!! GAAAAHD!!! HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE TH BEST THERAPIST IN THE WORLD!!!! OMGGGG!!!
Absolutely loved your series!!!
I was crying at the end too!! ❤❤ Please do Fifty Shades of Grey series!! 😊
You should watch interview with a vampire! It’s fiction while also dealing with interesting relationship dynamics
I always thought that Irina did what she did because she never believed Laurent tried to kill Bella so in her mind the Cullens had allied themselves with murderous werewolves so doing something like making a immortal child wouldn't be that far fetched. She didn't ask because I think part of her wanted it to be true because she was so angry with them and had a moment of weakness so went to the Volturi to get back at them. She seems very uncomfortable when telling the Volturi and she immediately rescinds her accusation and apologizes when confronted so I think it was genuinely just a moment of weakness.
Thanks for doing this series. ❤
I just wanted to wait to finish the series before commenting. I learned so much through this, so thank you❤. I think how i see things, like my relationships and more just got better. I appreciate 🙏
Dang didn’t know I was a shield too..makes alot of sense. All my life I been that for people but I rarely got the same, no one to talk to when I needed them. For the past couple years I been trying to put myself first, even cutting off people I known for years. Smdh unfortunately my birthday passed last week and I realized I barely have any real friends in my corner.. even so I’m so blessed to have my husband and my kiddies❤
The way I think about Irina going to the volturi is that she's protecting the ones she loves the most. Irina and her sisters were only spared because they didn't know about the immortal child their mother made. So she's protecting her sisters from that loss of their cousins, from feelings of betrayal stemming from their cousins making an "immortal child", and from being implicated in the crime by coming forward.
I love the seires Arcane, I've seen it be analyzed by other therapists but I would love to hear your thoughts, especially with Jinx and her odd relationship with Silco and intense trauma and obsession with Vi. Also her hatred for Caitlyn.
Bella had makeup on when she woke up basically 😂
And I found your channel through these videos and I love them. Doing hunger games would be amazing!
Can you do Interview with the Vampire next? The TV series not the movie. I think you will enjoy it! ❤
The reaction formation talk was really interesting! In primary school, my best friend was the only black kid in class. When we got to big school she switched friend groups & started telling everyone I was french (which I am, it would be a weird thing to invent) to stoke xenophobia. I got bullied a lot because of it. I realised later she was trying to deflect from being victimised, as she was still the only black kid in our entire year group. She apologized to me years later, & I think she's made peace with it. I was pretty hurt at the time, as it felt like she was throwing me under the bus, but it didn't take me that long to realise my feelings were misplaced. Those kids were always gonna bully someone, might as well be me
I started watching your videos because this series came across my recs page. Therapy and psychology in general fascinate me, especially since I started taking my writing more seriously as an adult. I've learned so much through you. I'm a HUGE Twilight fan and I feel the same for about 99% of your takes. It's been fun and engaging listening to you and talking back to my computer even though you can't hear me lol.
I'd LOVE if you did A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas! It's a series of five books and is another one of my favorites. You might enjoy it, you might not (it's usually a hit or miss for people because of one thing in particular (NO ONE SPOIL IT PLEASE)). There's a lot to talk about in the series and I'd love to hear it from you, plus it's super fun and adventurous with amazing world building.
I’m definitely the shield for everyone. It gets exhausting going through other people’s things but always masking mine….
Thank you so much for this series and all of the breakdowns you do!! Every single one of them is so interesting and insightful, even if I haven’t watched all of the original media myself.
I would love to see you do a breakdown of Insecure!
50 Shades of Grey! Id be so interested to see your opinion professionally.
Speaking of new parents and that transition. Are there any parenting books or books about getting ready to have kids that you recommend? I loved the video and I always look forward to your content ♥️
I think irina was jealous and angry seeing Bella and Edward living happily while her love and mate was killed for accusations she doesn’t believe from Bella. She didn’t want to believe he was trying to kill Bella she said it at the wedding. So I think seeing them be happy out her in a rage so deep and blind that she went to the people who killed her mother because she wanted that same fate for them.
girl ur amazing! like;;;;;;; YOU R A QUEEN
I love your earrings so much!
Thank you! My friend’s mom brought them from India!
Loved goin g to Blockbuster and get the Twilight videos and snacks. We saw the last one in theaters…what a time.
Could you do Shadowhunters - the mortal instruments series? Shows and books??
I WAS LITERALLY WAITIJG FOR THIS VIDEO THANK UUU I LOVE UR VIDEOS
I love your review of Twilight. I feel Bella the vampire was definitely different than as a human. As a vampire she was more confident strong, whereas a human, she was timid and seem uncomfortable inher own skin. I believe Irina sided with the vulturi because she still felt the Collins helped the wolves kill her lover. I believe it was more revenge and fear. Please do an analyst of the Vampire Diaries for either each season or character, especially the villans.❤
Im loving every single one of tour videos. I came across your videos on love is blind! I binged watched all of them!
CAN YOU PLEASE DO 50 SHADES OF GREY??? IM interested in your take on that. And pleae do more "YOU" videos ( Netflix show)
this woman is a genius
i loved all of these
Thanks for this great series😊😊
Would be a bit of a commitment but would love to see you analyze Shadowhunters the TV show
Thank you for this series. Bring it On would be interesting
Hunger Games for sure! There's so much you can dissect.
Well this is first time I'm seeing a therapy channel and this makes me feel i need therapy badly because of constant sad and negative thoughts of feeling worthless. I got lot of fractures in familial relationship and feel down all the time....
I'd love your take on bridge to terebithia😅
I don’t know that this is the same case, but at one point in my last relationship (and my most toxic one), my ex started telling me how “he was the cute one in the relationship … that people are noticing him … etc.” It definitely made me feel insecure.
Please do Divergent. I thing she wrote Four so well and he is endgoals. Tris is not the best protagonist but I Love Four
Your critiques of the plot are fair, by My interpretation of the reason they gathered everyone was to be prepared for war in case the volturi wanted to abuse their power against cullens somehow, even they’re able to prove somehow that they didn’t break the law. As you see at the end of the movie in Alice’s vision, the volturi have a motive for destroying the Cullen clan and would have found some way to do so if not for the “army” of witnesses.
I love all the earrings you wear on your videos 😄
a breakdown of the vampire diaries would be interesting
I loved this series. May we please get a breakdown of Bridgerton.
Amazing job on this series!! 🎉 I hope you like The Hunger Games enough to give the movie series a go- I rewatch them once a year without trying 😅
You should do The summer I turned pretty
Would you please do Harry potter?
Will you be breaking down the new season of Love is Blind?😊
thank you sweetheart
Lol I forgot Benjamin was basically the avatar
Id love your opinion of the film Secretary 2002. I watched it as a teen a few years after it came out and absolutely loved it! I thought it was surprisingly romantic. I wonder what your professional take on it is now.
I am new to your channel and have subscribed after this series I loved your breakdown so much and has given me food for thought in my personal relationship and how I can better support my clients. I am unsure if you have done this one but I would love to see you do the After series and see if you had the same thoughts me about the protagonists relationship throughout.
Please breakdown Grey's Anatomy!
Do 50 shades of gray movies and books
I think it would be dope if you covered more recent movies or tv shows
@21:12 {Jonah Hill has entered the chat}
i'm sorry but every time i hear Irina i just think of Zach singing to Irina that one time in love is blind
Love your videos so much, I also want to become a therapist and watching your videos really motivate and inspire me to keep going. I would love to hear your thoughts on the relationships in the Netflix series, Ginny & Georgia. ❤😊
Love is blind season 5
I realized I am a shield! And my girlfriends mom is too ❤ we get along really well
Are we moving to hunger games now I hope so 🫣👀
Please please please do Harry Potter ❤
Stéphanie Meyer grew up Mormon and as part of the religion as a teenager, you get asked by a bishop (an older white man chosen by the Mormon church) and they are allowed to ask you sexual questions like how much you masturbate, if you have sexual thoughts, etc. Pedophilia is very much part of the Mormon religion so it would be interesting to hear you break down why she feels it’s okay to develop these ideas into the storyline….
Can you do an analysis on the movie Fair Play?
Please do love is blind newest season!!
Please do the hunger games next!!!!
