From watching your channel I have been able to get an idea on where to find information and when to look for more. My anxiety has turned into curiosity and passion.
This is a great video, well explained. But Paul didn't know property values would increase when he loaded up on real estate. He got lucky by 1) Having the cash to purchase when many couldn't get a loan and 2) betting on his real estate appreciating. He might be smart & savvy, but let's not discount his success due to luck and timing.
I see your point but somewhat disagree. Value on Real Estate always goes up (if it’s in the right location location location). Not too hard to tell when it’s cheap. And I’m sure he spent a lot of time and effort getting prepared for the opportunity
I could listen to this video on repeat, over and over again. I get so bombarded with naysayers that eventually love something at the peak of public opinion but chastise me at the trough.
I always like your "Teaching you to fish", position. I am to old to really make good on all of this but 7 years out from retirement I am trying to maximize what I CAN do with the time I have and get those younger than me to learn early to enrich themselves in time for their years ahead. Love you guys and and what you say and do.
Paul's example highlights that people aren't scared of price, they're scared of buying during the wrong market. The truest quote I've ever heard is "be greedy when everyone else is fearful". If everyone is exiting a market, enter it. If everyone's entering, either sell or sit. The reason Paul made money on his property is because a paid a good price relative to it's actual value at a time where sellers just wanted out because they were scared.
Thank you guys for spending so much time to teach people everything. I know it has to be hard to keep content and to keep on finding things to talk about. You guys kill it every time.
My father used to say that I shouldn't listen to investment advisors--I should do my own research. I may not be an expert on a lot of finances, but I am reasonably confident that what I do know is factual. Thanks for being the best channel on this.
Paul, I still balanced a checkbook until this last month. I decided there was a better way, but there were a few times that the bank tried to screw me that made balancing necessary in my mind. $500 in checking was my new $0 because mistakes we aren't prepared for still happen. I had a large bill come out twice by mistake, which resulted in an overdraft fee. Having a minimum balance that you wont allow your account to fall under solves both of those problems.
These Numbers might sound impressive, but When you factor in inflation these past 12-13 years... Not so much its quite average compared to other investments like Bonds or stocks during the same period off time

Comparing stocks to real estate doesn't always work. If you buy a value property you will still be cashflowing no matter what the market thinks about the current prices. But if you buy a value stock, you might still lose money if the market thinks that this business is worth less than the current price no matter what the business cashflows. Take Intel for example (let's forget about their dividend because there are many value stocks that don't pay dividend), you can believe that the stock should be worth $90, but if the market thinks that is only worth $40 it will never go to $90 unless sentiment changes (which can take years or might never happen).

I literally have to keep watching this channel to continue to caution myself away from “hype plays.” It’s so hard to navigate the investment analysis realm of the Internet and not be sucked into “This stock has 100x potential because they have such a game changing idea!!” Which, sometimes it’s like, dang, that company does have a very promising idea with gobs of potential. But I have to remind myself that sentiment is subjective. No matter how good it seems. It’s still subjective. I would love to catch lightning in a bottle with another Tesla stock or pre-4 digit share price AMZN. But that’s way harder than finding fundamentally sound companies with good returns and lower risk.
Great video as usual! One question - Why investing in ETFs regularly without bothering about the market is a good idea whereas we want to wait for the same individual stocks to drop below their intrinsic values to buy them? Most of the blue chip stocks with solid financials are currently overpriced as compared to their intrinsic values, yet we want to buy them as part of ETFs at the current price? Could Paul please share his opinion on this?
Good question! Perhaps is time to jump on board our discord, your question is what we discuss once you become part of the EM community - see the link in the description section - 👍 GC
@@Metal_Stacking I totally agree with your point and even my portfolio is in a similar position as yours. There is no question that over the long period of time ETFs almost always beat the average individual investors.
