They weren't jedi - the father was the Sith Emperor reincarnated. Notice that he rejected them both until one fell to the dark side, and only THEN did he accept that son.

Yea but the father ALSO shed him self of the Sith in his eyes they were too weak, that's why he left and created the Eternal Empire on Zakuul. As force users on average they were more powerful then both the Jedi and Sith... Read up about why its worth the read.
He wasn't reincarnated, he took over Valkorions body and build the Eternal Empire from Zakuul while he was still the Sith Emperor.

@@StazBlitz Valkorion, I think, was sort of an outstanding individual and leader among his people when Tenebrae/Vitiate took over his body and began using him to build his new Empire.
Hatred clouded his mind (this was actually intended by their Father Valkorion) :P So he did not even recognize his brother :/

Nope couldn't control himself. The yellow eyes mean dark side corruption and he was having an anger spike that he couldn't control. We call it heat of passion.

The whole point was that his father turned his back on them all their lives. He refused to acknowledge them. And finally he got sick of it and went into a blind rage. The blind rage killed his brother, but left only one alive. And then, finally, his father recognized him as his son.

Holy crap, I just realized this game's been out for 15 years... half my life-time ago. Damn, I'm old.
Swtor hasn't been out for 15 years; it came out in 2011, iirc. But Kotor came out in 2003, so yeah, 16 years. The best SW games there are, IMO. I don't even thing the movies come close to the stories in Kotor 1 and 2.

Depending on which Full Game Movie Edit you watch online, it is still around 6 hours to 16 hours of screen time to sit through.
A big screen theater barely has a 2 hour view time. So no single movie or trilogy can match the
experience of a video game.
Funny thing is, I met people 12 years ago who never played any Star Wars games or bother to read any novels were Aware of the youtube video of " Philosophy of Keria." Many of them even stated the only thing that came out of Star Wars they will bother with is the P.o.K.
Um, I saw the very first showing of the first Star Wars in a theatre. About twenty years before you were born.

Not emotion. Anger, negativity, bloodlust and powerlust. Positive emotions strengthen the Light, while the Dark is powered by atrocities and cruelty. It's why the Jedi fell. They were too apathetic and isolationist.

"Couldn't he control himself"-nope. Look on his eye-it turn orange in moment when he rush on his father and remain so to the time afret fight, when it go back to normal. He was overwelm with dark side.
Arcann (The guy in white) and Thexan (Guy in black) their whole life they were seeking approval from their father. Thexan being the best at everything also strong and kind could not be corrupted. Arcann, on the other hand was being consumed by the dark side of the force at the end , you can see his eyes were yellowish (sign of corruption) on some clips. Right after he kills his brother immediately his eyes turn... blue for a moment. At that time he realizes what he has done but it is too late. The father is a sith lord, his only goal was to corrupt one of them. it did not matter to him which one. This is why he calls him "son" at the very end.
Notice their father says to Arcann at the end, "Come with me, my son." There can be only one heir seems like and Thexan was too soft hearted to take up that mantle. So their father's choice was made when Arcann killed Thexan "accidentally." Jus sayin. Cool vid tho Jenn 🐼
The Emperor actually was waiting to see which was worthy of being his son. Thexan lost their fight because he wasn't really trying - he wouldn't kill his brother and he assumed his brother felt the same. The Emperor says, "a man can have anything if he's willing to sacrifice." Thexan was not willing to sacrifice his brother. Arcann, on the other hand, did sacrifice his brother, seduced by the Dark Side in that moment. This sacrifice of his beloved brother for the Dark Side is what made Arcann worthy of being The Emperor's son.

Yup.. when their eyes change, they are simply flooded with rage and know nothing else. Like when Darth Vader was created and asked where his wife was and the emperor told him that he must have 'killed her in his anger'.. it's a blind rage and they act simply without knowing. but sad the 'good one' had to die.

Please let me gush over the cinematic a bit :p It's my favourite as well. It's beautiful, it's meaningful, and it's original. Best of all, in my opinion, is how it handles Star Wars lore, specifically the Dark Side. It shows the dark side as being more than the cliche.
While I was watching, I was thinking that basically, these two boys are being taught a lesson over the course of this cinematic. The lesson is the one the narrator is speaking. "A man can have anything if he's willing to sacrifice. ... When darkness finds you, you will face it alone. ..." and so on. I've always thought the narrator was just talking to us, or you know, narrating. But he's actually talking directly to Arcann (the boy in white.) The narration is the lesson about the Dark Side that The Emperor teaches Arcann over the course of the 20ish years in the cinematic. Brilliant.
(It's even more brilliant because of how they tie that together. How the Emperor goes straight from narrating seamlessly into talking directly to Arcann. Straight from "you will face it alone." to "come with me, son.")
It's easy for storytellers to reduce the dark side to a cliche. A power that comes from being evil, basically. But the lore is much more than that. This cinematic does justice to the lore.
George Lucas began Star Wars with elementary concepts of good and evil, light and dark. But since his original film, the idea of the Dark Side has evolved. From small things like the dark side changing your eye colour to the whole of Sith philosophy.
This cinematic shows the dark side does not develop from cliche evil but from more complex emotions. Consider that both boys are committing murder and slaughter. Consider they are both being rejected by their father, master, and Emperor (same person.) Yet only one falls to the dark side. Power in the dark side is not something that comes from "evil" like murder or anger. It comes from the desire for power, the hatred of your chains, and the merciless ambition of a proud spirit.
The trick for understanding is to watch the cinematic for the yellow eyes. That's when their connection to the dark side is most strong. Arcann's eyes turned yellow the moment he decided to attack his father. He'd been angry plenty of times, but his eyes were never yellow. It was when he decided he would no longer be condescended to by his father. When he decided his desire for power was more important, his wounded pride was more important than anything else. That's when the Dark Side responded. And it consumed him. It was too late before he remembered there was something he cared about more than power. He'd already killed it.
Matthew P. Dude... this hit me right in the feels. Amazing by the way thank you the description it helped but again. Even now I am still so upset about the murder of his brother. Ugh!
When I look back at that video, I see something I never saw the previous times. Arcann was chosen as his son due to him besting Thexan in combat, and proving himself. Thexan was tenacious and compassionate as a boy, slated to be the prodigal son by his demeanor and clothing. (When fighting for his brother in the pits he let anger consume him and struck down the assailants, showing a dark side of him) However, Thexan got older and wiser, as he faced his demons and learned to control his anger, where as the mild and meek son, Arcann, grew up in the shadow of his brother Thexan, and vied for their father's attention, corrupting his heart and turning him bitter and resentful. I originally thought of Thexan as just a kind soul all around ever since he was a boy, I didn't think he had faced his demons and become...well, compassionate and "soft". Fruit for thought.

He was so angry with his father his anger clouded his Vision and didn't realise what he did until it was too late it's bad enough losing your brother what's worse is knowing you killed him

The name of the father is called Emperor Vitiate which I had no doubt given how he,like Darth Sidious stayed in the background most of the time but still maintained an imposing figure,that bit where he was observing the brothers made him look a little bit like Darth Sidious

I love the attention to detail. You can see Arcann’s eye color shift from his normal color to that familiar yellow. Signs that in that moment he was filled with uncontrollable rage fuels by the dark side. And then you can see his eye shift back after he realized what he’s done.
I love how these small cinematic game trailers tell a better story and invoke more proper emotion than the last 2 star wars films.
When she said the first lightsaber, my whole perspective of the story changed. That was intense.
Look at his eyes when he goes mad. He goes darkside for split second and in his madness and rage and kills his brother.
Pure rage can do unspeakable things. You lose sight on anything that you hold dear. I know rage, I know what it can do. And when it's done, all you feel is despair and regret.

This trailer is a brilliant little piece of storytelling. When playing the game, the trailer gives you the background for the main characters and their arcs. The better you like the trailer, the more you get immersed in the story, and the more you want to play the game.
A combination of Dark Side influence & probably a heavy and untreated case of PTSD. 'Nam flashbacks be real yo.

4:50 look at his eyes, the turned yellow, thats faaling into the dark side, it give you a lot of power but at the price of basicaly turning mad in rage or purly evil, in his state, the fact that he came back from the dark side after realising what he did is on the contrary proof of how much his brother matered to him. And no he could not controle himself.

her gasp sounded like a blaster
two things me and my wife have always talked about in the battle for koriban scene is how fucked up arcann got. lost his entire arm from the shoulder down and then had a chop shop style surgery to put a sky trooper's arm in its place and half of a knight of zakuul's helmet on him to help him see and possibly breath. the second part is when they're walking towards the drop ship and Thexan looks at Arcann like "Dude...you good?"
5:00 look at his eyes here. He was evil the entire time. You can see a hint of his eyes here at 4:03-4:05. Goddamn these cinematic trailers are better than the entirety of the new films. Fucking phenomenal cinematography and music...

You have to know their father is Emperor Valcorion and he was almost immortal thats why he pulled him back in intention to safe him because he knew that wouldn´t end well. And if you noticed his eyes turned from yellow(rage) to his normal eye color after he killed his brother you can see it if you look carefully

The reason he killed his brother was due to his pull to the dark side being so strong that he could not resist. As he was already filled with rage he couldnt stop the rage. Thus when his brother Thexan pulls him away his anger grows as he is stopped when his ambition was to kill Valkorion (Father) He couldnt stop the anger and this lead to him killing his brother and eventually his father taking the eternal throne for himself
now you only need to see betrayed cinematic... which is my favorite!

The only way to truly embrace the dark side is to lose what you fear to lose most. That's why Malgus killed his wife, and why Kylo thought he would be stronger after killing his father, but there was still too much light in him.
Also Palpatine murdered his entire family, but that's different since he already hated them all anyway.
