I remember Woodard's arc and it genuinely broke my heart. He didn't deserve what happened to him, this whole season just constant hurt me in a very deep way I didn't know a crime show could do. I love season one it's an incredible piece of media in general but to me (sense I haven't seen season 4 yet) THIS was the best season so far.
Fine I literally just finished season 1 and watched the recap of season 2. I'm 19 seconds into this recap when I saw your message. I'll report back soon
Season 3 took certain aspects that they'd used in season 1 and just ran with em'. Like the nonlinear style of storytelling, and making at least one of the detectives from each of those seasons have a specialized career field somewhere in their past, that gave them the potential to contribute more to their respective cases than just the average law enforcement officer ever could. I would've liked to be able to see Wayne and Rust team up on something. Both of those men were willing to go to their graves fighting tooth and nail to find and/or protect an innocent child. Stephen and Woody were the PERFECT partners in relation to those characters too. Although honestly, between the four of them, they could have mixed and matched them up in any way you could think of (partner wise), and it would've wound-up being some truly masterful performances. 👍
It ambiguous but I always thought at the end he did wasn't actually having dementia and did recognize Julie, he was just playing it off to not worry Julie that she had been found
@@ldm673 Another comment somewhere addressed it pretty well noticing music changes sensing the discovery of him realizing it and being in peace then opening up the wound again.
Only problem I had with season 3 was it wasn’t season 1. Nothing ever will be though. Season 3 brought the fans back with gripping episodes and characters, and best of all, made us forget season 2.
9:00 i always had the belief that Hayes faked his Dementia episode so he would have a reason to talk to Julia without causing issues, Hayes would finally get his answer, everyone will dismiss it and Julia would be none of the wiser.
My issue with this season is they were going an obvious direction and the end its like they chickened out and didnt want make it about what it was clearly intended to be. I remember that was when real world conspiracies were making the news and it seemed like they didnt want to play into it. Unfortunate, as the ending really detracted from what could have been better than season one.
2:01 the man with the milky eye has his right eye milky. Every other time you see him it’s his left eye 3:56. Any time after time stamp 2:01 is his opposite eye. I cannot be the only person to catch this mess up. I noticed it right away others had to as well. It literally in your face and even pointed out.
Someone in the comments from another video said Wayne died on that porch, surrounded by his loved ones. And, that the dementia finally took him because the case was keeping his mind active. When the case closed, he "closed" too. TLDR: the ending was subjective.
I’m sure I’m in the minority here but S3 was a snooze fest. I loved S1 and S2, despite a lot of people not liking 2, but S3 draaagggedd for me. I have to watch this recap bc it was that forgettable
I watched season 1 for 1st time 10 days ago.. Its good, got me wanted to watch it instantly, all 8 episodes... Brutal, shocking.. American style.. Lots of weirdoes and sins.. Than i started this 3 season cauze i read that 2 is bad... Watched 2 episodes this two days... Ali is acting like he is piano man still from Green book, like someone pushed him to act here and he so not wanna... even move like that, nothing close to make u think he is some Rambo stuff Vieatnam vet, he looks like he will slip and fall in some ofroad place, looks loke he cant find moon on a full moon night, confuzed, making some faces unexplanable.. Dorf is like copy of Billy bob thornton, i mean, dont know if story will be good but this is sad... And again everyone is smoking cigarettes and drinking beer so false looking.. Dialogs between 2 main are like they are on smack and cant make sense in one line.stupid pauses, and more stupid when they talk.. Black female is classic stereotype- hair, story.. Not good acting.. Only acting so far is father of those children..
How many times do we need to see him and his wife talk scene after scene ? Also how many times do we need to see him and his partner drive in car ? Time after time. I understand why this show gets a bad rap. They leave thing undone. Season 2, the bad guy gets away with it. The same with this season. This show is desperately trying to be like Fargo but is failing miserably. There is just too much waste. This easily couldve been a 6 part series. And you have a great actor Michael Rooker just shoot one scene with him in the woods ? Was that scene even needed ? There are so many bad scenes. I really dont look forward to Season 4 but i need to finish this. I dont expect much. Wish me luck.
The Only Season that comes close to Season 1, this is a great season, not Perfect like season 1, but its Damn Good, cuz 2, n 4 are HORRIBLE, but again This is AWSOME season 3
That Amelia character was extremely irritating. Her voice and her egotistical character. Hated every moment she was on the screen. It's clear she's English putting on an American accent but she never change the English tone and pronunciations. Awful just awful. And looked about 50 even when she is only first dating Wayne
Happy True Detective Week!

Season 2 Recap: ua-cam.com/video/IN0osLg-Mn8/v-deo.html
Mahershala Ali was obviously spectacular but I gotta give some props to Stephen Dorff as well. Great performance. And that dog scene had me crying too
Ya Stephen Dorff’s a real good actor, can’t wait for his next movies.
Great friendship history
This is one of the more underrated seasons of television imo
True Detective, in general, was some solid storytelling.
Why do you think it's underrated
Season 1 you mean…
@@JaneFonda-l2rhow is season 1 underrated? It’s highly acclaimed.
what are we arguing about here? Merely emphasising my love for season 1. All the acclaim in the world isn't enough :)@@Lionboyyy326
It's unbelievable how much suffering Tom, the Dad, went through. That poor man was broken and murdered.
I will watch literally anything with Scoot McNairy in it. Fantastic actor.
I like the idea that he keeps solving the same crime over and over
Stephen Dorff was outstanding in this show. Just his eyes and expressions alone show so much emotion!
Very underrated season. More people need to watch this one.
I remember Woodard's arc and it genuinely broke my heart.
He didn't deserve what happened to him, this whole season just constant hurt me in a very deep way I didn't know a crime show could do.

Yes but wasn’t Woodard hiding something he was carrying something covered that looked like a body🤔
@@anthonycamarillo3922that was his bag of like booby traps and guns stuff that he set up before them dudes came to his house
Anyway, Stephen Dorff shared the screen with both Blade actors now and I can't get over this fact 🤣
Sticky Fingaz?
oh shiiiit he was frostt
@@LazarDinic-v5m yesss, for being 50 years old now he's still pretty fresh (no pun intended)

Great recap of this underrated third Season of True Detective.
Amazing season…wow. This recap brought it all back.
I thought the ending scene meant Wayne’s mind was still trapped in the jungle in Vietnam and that Time is a flat circle for Wayne.
Great way to end it imo.
this series was really beautiful and nobody gives it a chance
So good the mix between old and young felt jumbled like his mind very cool
Fine I literally just finished season 1 and watched the recap of season 2. I'm 19 seconds into this recap when I saw your message. I'll report back soon

If only he read the damn book

Interesting theory
just finished up season 3 and it did feel like he was thinking about whether to say something or not
No because then he wouldn't have kept her address for the son the find. He would've binned it.

there’s some really good actors in this, loved it, Great series 🍿🎬
Literally finished this last night.
Was it good

Just finished it. I agree with the 8. Excellent season.
Finished mere minutes ago. So good!
Nice Recap 👍
I remembered season 3 was better than season 2, but holy shit I have forgotten the plot. Thanks for the recap
That time Blade and Deacon Frost teamed up to solve the case
i really liked this season. hope they deliver with season 4
They aren’t deliverin’
They didn't deliver!🤔 Big disappointment!
i thought season 4 was really good
Excellent rearrangement and recap.
definitely the second best True Detective season
I try to forget about Season 2's existence...lol.
Excellent work
Great season , so far 3 episodes deep into Night Country and it just doesn't hit the same . I hope it gets better , i love true detective
I'm about to start it. Everyone is negative about everything, so idk how this is going to go.
People hate season 2 but I loved it so idk..

I thought this season was fantastic. It had this certain quality to it that is unique. Ali is a great actor but everyone else did great too!
Wow great breakdown
Eliza the interviewer looks just like the “It’s Coffee” girl

Loved it........but exactly what happened to his wife Amelia?
I was CERTAIN the interviewer chick was Julie... Would make a hell of a twist
Fantastic season of television
Great recap 👍👏
Thank you for the content. Love it. Any way you will get a chance to do preacher or legion? Love from a fan.
I need a recap for The 100 and for The Magicians :(
so where did the kids ride there bikes too? the woods? and isabelle took them? im still confused
Annnd….here come the tears.
How good are seasons 2 3 and 4?
2 is dog excrement, 4 is not much better - with a ''feminist angle'' and all that brings. 3= listen to this and other reviews . Better for sure.
Legit my 3rd time needing to re subscribe to you brother, UA-cam be on some shit sometimes
Bro I'm disappointed in myself for just now learning about this show
This season is great. Not as great as S1, but great nonetheless
I think it would be worse if they tried to out do the first season.
Which big show are you planning on recapping next which has not be recapped by others?
Change playback speed to 1.25x, or even 1.5x if your feeling frisky
I thought the thumbnail was from a SNL skit
I just finished watching and i got a question that's bugging me. Did Wayne ever tell Roland about this call? If not then why even after they got old?
What happened to his wife?
Everyone said this was better than Season 2 and I was SO BORED the entire time.
well, this season was boring, but season 2 was unwatchable, now you tell me which one is worse
@@marioben7 Idk, I liked Colin Ferrel. I like how it had an unhappy ending. Season 3 felt like a 10 hour movie.

The last good TD series.
Glad I saw this as I couldn’t finish the actual season (#3). Season 4 was very good. Season 1 maybe the best one. But Season 2 sucked - period.
So Julie had HIV and died? But really she didn’t?
No the nuns told people she died to protect her.
Everyone is missing the fact that the Hoyt Family is connected to the Tuttles. It will all come together. People are so stupid.
