I was shocked and sad that we have so many people in our world now who must tear down anything that people enjoy, respect, and admire. Never have I seen so much sour grapes and negativity.
I wonder if Suzie Menkes is comparing Catherine with Maxima of the Netherlands. As her namesake, she maximizes her expensive jewelry, which sometimes is out of place and tonedeaf considering the current economic situation. So I side with Catherine and her sensible selections.

I have some English roots. My mother taught me to edit my jewelry. Ever see someone with six bracelets on each wrist, a ring or two on every finger, five piercings in each ear, and at least three necklaces? Gaudy, tasteless and actually detracts from one’s attractiveness. Some of the items designers put out is awful. Just because something is allegedly the latest “it thing” doesn’t mean it will fit the shape of your face, your body or even your personality. The Princess of Wales always looks impeccable, represents the UK and royalty most appropriately, and sets a good example for her children. The late Queen would be very happy with her in all aspects. 💖🇺🇸

I totally agree! Prince Catherine combining the high end with the affordable is clever on many levels. Firstly, she is advertising pieces of British jewelry and helping the small businessman/women. My very stylish grandmother always said to get dressed and made up, with full-on jewelry. Then before you walk out the door look in the mirror and take off half of it. It was her way of saying don’t let your jewelry or accessories dominate the total look. Princess Catherine is not an “editorial piece” in a fashion magazine, she’s not selling jewelry.
She got that originally from Coco Chanel; Coco was the one who said to always take off a piece of jewelry before heading out the door. This advice has been repeated in fashion magazines for decades since. It wasn’t invented by your grandmother, I’m afraid.

I am an American and I absolutely love Princess Catherine and Prince William. They are such a beautiful family and I love how they take time with their children and making sure they grow up with respect for others and to know they are deeply loved and that their life means something. I am so glad they are better brought up right.

The Princess of Wales is an excellent ambassador for everything British. When she wears a dress or a pair of earrings or a hat, she shines a light on local businesses that need it. Well, this has-been fashion editor (not to body or style shame, but this woman was not a prize) has achieved her five minutes of fame after being in the background and basically being unknown by the public and is being talked about now and in the public eye. Jewels are part of the equation in the Princess of Wales’s position but it would be in truly bad taste to go around over draped in super expensive jewels when the UK and many people worldwide are struggling financially. She has to wear them for her position, but she does it tastefully and minimally. It’s “not her thing” and we should be glad of that. Some people have nothing to do but sit back and nit pick that the Princess of Wales is not drenched in jewels. Really?

Love this, love that our much loved and respected Monarchy is appreciated by so many outside of the UK and Commonwealth, it really makes me involuntarily smile, which is always nice isn't it. To me they are my strength and they have held sway for so long, been a part of my familes lives for generations. It's nice to have that constant, it's a comfort when everything in life changes so much. I've lost my grandparents, my parents, my brother is an as*hole I havent seen in donkeys years, and yet there still is our King and his family that are as familiar to me as my own, in a sense. I have to disagree with Charlotte. No one seems worried at all about Charles’s testiness at times. That video with the pen that leaked all over him was a prime example. It leaked on him and he threw a bit of a fit and NO ONE CARED. Camilla ignored him, grabbed a new pen, and sat down to sign her name. And the staff helped him clean up after letting him vent. No one is afraid of Charles’s mood, temper (we ALL have one) or his kingliness.
Don’t forget he had just lost his mother, and had to put his grief aside to carry on with his duty. So, please don’t blame him for having a ‘moment’ re the pen.

A part of the affection that people have for Catherine is how charming she is in her duel roles as #1 a figurehead representing the people of Britain wearing the symbols of monarchy and #2 as a real human being who other real human beings can relate to with the wearing of her fun attainable items of attire. I love King Charles, he always makes me smile, even when he gets annoyed. We can all relate. That one moment when you know your being filmed, and you just want the silly tempermental fountain pen to work right for once, and it doesn't hahaha I could so relate, and feel for him. He's a proper sweetheart. Love the fun he and Queen Camilla clearly have. Lots of laughter, and that's worth it's weight in gold.

I'm an American who has English In-laws, I've followed the Royals for 40 years now, to have something in common with my new Mum in law, Queen Elizabeth was the pinnacle of perfection, I held her in the highest regard, how could anyone who studied even a little bit about her life not realize how utterly wonderful, awe inspiring, just how incredible she was❤ I believe she knew just how special Princess Catherine is, and she passed knowing the Monarchy will be in good hands, no matter what ❤

I loved it when Queen Camilla, spotted the pastry giggled and then told King Charles to take a look... The lady has a great sense of humour and personally, I think she has been wonderful for King Charles. I have some English roots. My mother taught me to edit my jewelry. Ever see someone with six bracelets on each wrist, a ring or two on every finger, five piercings in each ear, and at least three necklaces? Gaudy, tasteless and actually detracts from one’s attractiveness. Some of the items designers put out is awful. Just because something is allegedly the latest “it thing” doesn’t mean it will fit the shape of your face, your body or even your personality. The Princess of Wales always looks impeccable, represents the UK and royalty most appropriately, and sets a good example for her children. The late Queen would be very happy with her in all aspects. 💖🇺🇸

Princess Kate hits all the right notes with her work outfits. Not too expensive but stylish. It is a look a lot of working women can replicate.

I am an American and I absolutely love Princess Catherine and Prince William. They are such a beautiful family and I love how they take time with their children and making sure they grow up with respect for others and to know they are deeply loved and that their life means something. Princess Catherine does a wonderful job, as you say, balancing the dazzle with the day-to-day, at the same time as promoting British designers big and small. As a Canadian part of the Commonwealth I am extremely proud of our Queen in Waiting.
The Princess of Wales is an excellent ambassador for everything British. When she wears a dress or a pair of earrings or a hat, she shines a light on local businesses that need it. I think it's smashing that she does that instead of always going for the foreign brands. She should be lauded, not criticized!

Well, this has-been fashion editor (not to body or style shame, but this woman was not a prize) has achieved her five minutes of fame after being in the background and basically being unknown by the public and is being talked about now and in the public eye. Jewels are part of the equation in the Princess of Wales’s position but it would be in truly bad taste to go around over draped in super expensive jewels when the UK and many people worldwide are struggling financially. She has to wear them for her position, but she does it tastefully and minimally. It’s “not her thing” and we should be glad of that. Some people have nothing to do but sit back and nit pick that the Princess of Wales is not drenched in jewels. Really?

This American cried tears filled with respect for your past monarch, and looks on your current monarch, his queen, and all the royal family with much respect and appreciation.
Love this, love that our much loved and respected Monarchy is appreciated by so many outside of the UK and Commonwealth, it really makes me involuntarily smile, which is always nice isn't it. To me they are my strength and they have held sway for so long, been a part of my familes lives for generations.
It's nice to have that constant, it's a comfort when everything in life changes so much. I've lost my grandparents, my parents, my brother is an as*hole I havent seen in donkeys years, and yet there still is our King and his family that are as familiar to me as my own, in a sense.

I have to disagree with Charlotte. No one seems worried at all about Charles’s testiness at times. That video with the pen that leaked all over him was a prime example. It leaked on him and he threw a bit of a fit and NO ONE CARED. Camilla ignored him, grabbed a new pen, and sat down to sign her name. And the staff helped him clean up after letting him vent. No one is afraid of Charles’s mood, temper (we ALL have one) or his kingliness.
Don’t forget he had just lost his mother, and had to put his grief aside to carry on with his duty. So, please don’t blame him for having a ‘moment’ re the pen.

I love King Charles, he always makes me smile, even when he gets annoyed. We can all relate. That one moment when you know your being filmed, and you just want the silly tempermental fountain pen to work right for once, and it doesn't hahaha I could so relate, and feel for him. He's a proper sweetheart. Love the fun he and Queen Camilla clearly have. Lots of laughter, and that's worth it's weight in gold.

I think the Princess of Wales is doing a great service to local & national designers & jewelry makers by showcasing their creations. Her support adds to national pride and boosts the economy ! What a modern & positive direction for the RF. Certainly we love to see the Royal jewels worn at formal occasions but we can only dream of owning such luxuries. But we can own afford the daily items that Catherine wears. It makes me feel connected to her & proud of her confidence. Thank you.
I'm an American who has English In-laws, I've followed the Royals for 40 years now, to have something in common with my new Mum in law, Queen Elizabeth was the pinnacle of perfection, I held her in the highest regard, how could anyone who studied even a little bit about her life not realize how utterly wonderful, awe inspiring, just how incredible she was❤ I believe she knew just how special Princess Catherine is, and she passed knowing the Monarchy will be in good hands, no matter what ❤

I loved it when Queen Camilla, spotted the pastry giggled and then told King Charles to take a look... The lady has a great sense of humour and personally, I think she has been wonderful for King Charles. As for the Princess of Wales, I bet she could dress in a potato sack and still look elegant, with her high street fashion accessories. Regardless of the price, she always looks beautiful.
Let us remember the person who was the absolute opposite and she dragged her husband away from the UK. The Princess of Wales is gracious, kind, hard working for charities and for her family. Thank goodness they have the Princess of Wales to represent the Royal Family!!!
I love the way the Princess of Wales dresses. I think she has marked her transition from the Duchess of Cambridge by upping her game, including some more expensive clothing, but it's been done subtly and in good taste. You should be proud of your Princess!

So what are we looking at here: the princess of wales is highly intelligent, very hard working, deeply committed to her work within the royal family, has taken her time to decide which projects she wanted to take on, a natural with people, warm hearted, considerate and clearly has a wonderful sense of fun and humour, does not take herself all that seriously. She represents this country flawlessly, is clearly a great mother and gives the prince of wales a sense of confidence and lightness.
Oh, i seem to have forgotten that she is utterly beautiful, stylish, dresses so well (mind you with a figure like that she does not know how to look bad), knows exactly what suits her and what suits the occasion, in short i think that the uk are soooo lucky to have her.
So anyone who writes negative things about her makes me think that maybe they are jealous.
