@@kingsleypurvis8707 - It wouldn’t be the first time a 700 has hauled H set cars, there are photos of 700’s running in Victoria with these cars in tow during the early 1990’s.
its great to see some rollingstock with some aircon and SteamRanger more options. They will stay in the colour for a while unless some donates some paint and people to paint them, the PTV triangles will be taken of is my guess
Awesome stuff Kane! I didn't have 'AN green+PTV purple' on my 2024 livery combination bingo card. Incidentally - it's possible a 930 has hauled an H set before: when they were through-running in the 80s it was fairly common for AN locos to do short passenger runs to Geelong or Ballarat while waiting for the next interstate job. I've seen a few pictures of them on N sets, certainly possible they might have run with H sets too.
Thanks for tuning in mate, I can’t believe we got this before GTA6! Schony did put out a post enquiring but most photos are of them with N sets as you said, and one with a Tait set - so this may yet be the first time if no records pop up. :)
Who would've thought huh...? I thought that I"d seen everything back in the 1990's when a pair of B class came last me at Parkes Loco with a grain train in NSW 😮 No... I then thought I had seen it all, when at Maryborough, a NSW 44 class came through light engine m, in the middle of Victoria 😮No.... Superb work yet again 😁
An Alco hauled H set, the combination we never knew we needed!
I completely agree 😄
@@KanesTrains- Also, #FuriousChugging ;)
Thanks Kane for another year of great videos, cheers Peter
Cheers mate, take it easy 😃
I reckon a newly refurbished 700 pulling those carriages would look great.
I agree :D
@@KanesTrains 701s in preservation and has hauled an H set before, surely BG swap with Steamrangers 700...

Enjoyed it all, and I'll be interested to see any updates.
Cheers for watching, I'll keep you updated!

i hope they keep it in the Vline paint scheme!
I think they will for a bit 😊
IMO, they should paint them (the H sets) in VR blue and gold which would pay homage to their former suburban train Heritage!
And keep the power van as it is.

@@KanesTrains Very historic then!
I've run that 930+Tait consist in HO scale a few times. ;)
@@KanesTrains We are getting everything before GTA 6
520 back before GTA 6?!?

A 44 at Maryborough?! Given my family connection to that town i’d love to see it
@KanesTrains just after standardisation ... It was Paul Moore's reverse liveried 4471
@ I’ll have to hunt down a photo
This is payback for all the SAR steel carriages that ended up in Victoria lol
Fr
In November 24 I filmed 3 of these carriages on the back of trucks driving through Tailem Bend SA. I wondered where they were going..
That's pretty cool! They’re finally back in the system, so you’re in for a treat!
@@KanesTrains I've put the footage up on YT if you wanna have a look
@ I’ll be sure to check it out :)
i winder if they will use them for the cockle train or the southern encounter those carriages for steam ranger
They can use them for pretty much any of their passenger services, and I’m sure they will 😃
@@KanesTrains yep
There is no Southern Encounter anymore. Goes to Strathalbyn and return.
I hope they are being preserved?
That’s why they’re there :)
Paint it up in V/Line tangerine. It'd look good in that scheme hauled by 958 or a Class 830.
I agree, the tangerine would look pretty good!
I did see an N class hauling a set as late as Nov 2024.
Need to wear my reading glasses 🕶️
N class - hahaha. (Thanks mate) They look very similar
SA's new country rail service?
Great video @Kane's trains.
With that last clip, they are possibly checking for platform clearance, i assume?
Checking at all platforms :)
Does anyone know what there gonna do with those carriages!
Use them for passenger services? What else 😅
Great video kane, I would love to see them in the S.A.R livery from nick
Thanks! Yeah they'd look pretty cool in that livery 😎
I saw this yesterday also as I’m a local. Gotta say I’m not a fan!
The carriages look poxy and do not suit the heritage railway look. 🤮
Just you wait and see! They do date back to the 50’s and 60’s 😁
These no Southern Encounters anymore. Only to Strathalbyn and return from Mt Barker.
Only for now
Is steamranger getting rid of all of it's passenger cars with those vline h car sets or keeping them
These are an addition to the collection. They will provide air conditioned splendour in the warmer months :)
So those 500 600 and 700 carriages steamranger purchased are never going away
I wish steamrail r761 would pay a visit to steamranger
@ definitely not!
I didn't know they got a PH van as well😯😯
Gotta power the lights and AC 😁
How do these carriages get their electricity for lights etc?
The freight wagon at the rear has a generator to power the lights and AC :)
@@KanesTrains thank you. Most unusual but they were once part of an electric set
The '930' looks GREAT, and how about a nice SAR COLOR SCHEME for the passenger cars!
Definitely a good thought 😊
The same ranger should get a passenger service from Mount Barker to Victor Harbour 🤣🤣🤣 There closer than the state government
