The Mandela effect refers to a situation in which a large mass of people believes that an event occurred when it did not. The term was originated in 2009 by Fiona Broome, after she discovered that she, along with a number of others, believed that Nelson Mandela had died in the 1980s (when he actually died in 2013).

@@MisterJRyanUA-cam The line was just changed for the movie. In the English translations of the original Brothers Grimm fairytale, it is still the translation of "Spieglein, Spieglein an der Wand". Some people just can't wrap their head around the fact that movies differ from books...

I just recently put together a 4 TB hard drive of movies for my dad so he could get rid of all of his DVD's for his move and any movie that has remakes/sequels I put in one folder... at which point i ran into the Charlie and The Chocolate factory vs Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory (I kept them separate because I didn't know what folder to go with). On this one I don't have a strong opinion... but I'm pretty sure it's always been Charlie in my mind... but the weirder thing about it is, I never noticed the variation in the titles before.
The movie ones are starting to mess with me, because at this point I'm much more at piece with an instance being a Mandella Effect vs faulty memory and I'm starting to come across a variety of ones that only apply to me, which is freaking me out. I theorize, since I've always played back good/funny movie instances in my head, my faulty memory theory is that I play a moment back in my head when I've only seen the scene minimally, which at that point that moment will be on repeat in my head, so it evolves into being what I repeated in my head 100 times vs the one or so times that I've seen it.
When Lauren Bacal gets mugged in the Sopranos, My f**king arm vs eye (her unusual voice cracks me up, so I would repeat it trying to do her voice and in that process I likely changed it from arm to eye, which in that instance I recognized it the next time I watched the part again... and just the other day in Coming To America Joe Lewis was 75 vs 175 years old when he fought him (I've been quoting and doing a bit on the barber shop scene since it's release so who knows). This could be faulty memory if I'm the only one who recognizes this... and I wonder for me at least if there's a correlation between me repeating lines in my head inaccurately out of the gate that created the faulty memory. The visual ones I tend to bear the most weight on... the silver leg and the scare crow gun I consider strong Mandella Effects. Mirror mirror on the wall and may the force be with you are big ones as well. he never said the force will be with you... that's such an odd arrangement and the horrendous prequels had no influence on me.

I thought I was experiencing the Mandela effect when myself and friends swear up and down that crazy frog had a penis, but looking at the vids he doesn’t 🤔 later found out he did originally but they edited it out bc people complained about how vulgar it was. I wonder if that explains a couple of these - like the bear in the coconut bra for instance - maybe someone complained and Disney edited it out? Idk, very interesting nonetheless 😁

Another one is, what the hell are Dip N Dots? Supposed to have been around the 80's, but neither have I, my hubby, or any of his siblings ever heard of these. We've been around since the 50's, 60's and 70's...and different parts of the country.... Nine people never heard of these in, at least the late 40 years, regardless of region.

In general I'm lost on all the Disney one's because I guess I wasn't the typical kid who watched the Disney movies or any of the cartoon references, however even with my limited experience with Disney i remember tinker bell dotting the eye.

They are if people have a memory of hearing those misquotations in the movies
@@MisterJRyanUA-cam No, they're clearly not! "No, I am your father" just isn't good as a movie quote, because it's out of context. So people "remember it" (i.e. they made it up!) as "Luke, I am your father". That's the ONLY reason - and NOT a Mandela Effect at all!
