    Smart move on Disney's part

      Well, they have tried it many times, Hulu, HBO Now, DirecTV Now, Sling etc, etc....
      Just because they create another new Streaming Service, doesn't mean they will succeed, let alone succeed immediately..

      wildreams sweetie it's Disney they been around for 70 years which means they have 70 years worth of kids nostalgia including the current ones so it's going to be a success but only if they do it right.

      I think they should have just moved all their stuff to Hulu, since they own a majority of Hulu. It could have killed Netflix. This streaming service is good, but even with all the Disney/Marvel/Lucas stuff, it is not enough to compete with Netflix. Then again, at the price point it is more like just a channel, not a network. Limiting it to family shows (no R rating) will keep some of their own content on other services.

      Mickey Mouse and Silly Symphony short-subject films date back to 1928. Walt Disney's first feature was released in 1937. And, Disney has since acquired 21st Century Fox, and its content, which is even older, as well as some of Walt Disney's oldest films, which predate Mickey Mouse.

    I remember the Disney Channel when it premiered in 1983. It was just like TCM, no commercials, classic Disney and Hollywood movies, golden age cartoons, The Wonderful World of Disney (1954-1983),The original Mickey Mouse Club and Zorro, (no obnoxious teen flicks.) I hope when Disney Streaming starts they will include their neglected film library from 1923 to 1985, The Walt Disney Productions era which I remember fondly before the corporate suits took over. This means you Iger and your pal Eisner before you.

    • @mattk.3645
      @mattk.3645 5 років тому

      Even back then, though, The Disney Channel was not Disney quality. Too much of the programming was filler that had nothing to do with the Disney's trademark creativity and imagination. Disney+ had better be more ambitious.

      Hulu, which is a subsidiary of Walt Disney, will be the place for licensed content and for conventional television channels from third parties. Disney+ is the service for general-interest Disney-owned content.
      Iger has said, though, that Disney+ may offer a limited amount of licensed content initially but that the objective is to eventually rely entirely on Disney's vast library of owned content.

    This sounds like a cool app but they act like it is a big surprise move - Disney has talked about this for years. Remember when they wasted a billion dollars on go. com? If they just moved all their content to Hulu it could have been devastating to Netflix though, and much easier. The app is only 149 pesos (like $3 USD) a month, here in the Philippines. Not bad for all the Disney, Marvel, and Lucas Films content (but no R rated content - like Deadpool & Jessica Jones). I still can't find if it includes all the old TV shows, I particularly want all seasons of Wonderful World of Disney.

    I hate that Iger references children in this interview. That fact shows that he doesn't understand the company he runs. Walt Disney spent most of his career saying that his works were not for children, or, at least, not just for children (despite the prejudices some people have towards the animation medium), and he enjoyed tremendous success, partly for that reason.
    The majority of guests to Disneyland throughout its history contained no children. The majority of households subscribing to The Disney Channel, when it was a premium service, also contained no children. So, Disney+ had better be a true Netflix replacement if The Walt Disney Company expects to be successful.

    People want to watch there stuff under one roof not peaced out to all hell Disney imagine going to Facebook trying to post something so you have to go to another site grab a picture grab that picture then upload that picture then go to another site text something then take that text then upload it to another site and then take those then each one of them piece it out and then have to upload them each one to Facebook sounds stupid right because you're peacing out every individual step that's why this is so dumb Disney is literally peacing out all their content to like 10 different online streaming services from CBS, to ESPN, to DC and expecting people to pay for their content for that stuff that they are in charge of running and then also pay for Disney stuff that they're going to try to have you have for some reason I mean what's the point I might as well just go online and find an illegal site that has it all on one because that's what people do because they want access to everything in one place not 10 different places or 20 different places to get the same stuff that you clearly have the ability and you also have the content that you can have all that content on one streaming service not 20 different streaming services like you're planning on this is why you will not be anywhere close to suffer because the problem is is that if you don't get enough Disney fans that want that individual content you'll fail, same thing with DC DC online is going to fail because they're not going to get enough content or fans and subscribers from other genres, same thing with ESPN you're not going to get the non casual sports fan to watch your stuff, same thing with CBS you're not going to get all the Star trek pants the reason why this doesn't work is because what Disney is allowing to happen is basically all their content to be peaced out by tons of different services instead of just having it all under one place and that's why Disney online will not do that well because people don't just want Disney people want all of what Disney were present and they all know what Disney world presents they know they all know these things but instead of being able to go to one place for them they're not going to have that and that's why this streaming service will not compete with Netflix this is very very just really not a good way to look at it this guy should be fired and replaced with somebody with balls that understands that people in today's society like Netflix understands they want everything in one place they want movies, they want original programming and not have Netflix to three and four where they have different types of Netflix that they have described it five different Netflix to get the same thing that they already know that they own it would be like Netflix peacing out Orange is the New Black on another streaming service, all there DC content on another streaming service why would that not work because it's stupid and that's what Disney is doing it doesn't make any sense you own all the content people want Disney online to basically be where you go to one place for all the content that Disney owns not just Disney and Star wars know they want Disney which includes everything else from DC, to marvel, the Star wars, too old Disney to new Disney they want all the content even ESPN access on one f****** app and you have that ability and you're so stupid that you don't see thatwhat does Disney have against making money it doesn't make any sense. F*** Google's worth $1,000 this year where the hell of a lot more than Disney even though Disney owns everything Google has Google they have you too and they have other entities that they own but they don't peace I'm out go get a Google phone you can get all their s*** on one f****** place, Disney's going by the idea I'm saying okay even though we own all this we're going to peace now to a billion different places online and expect you to pay $5 for f****** 10 different streaming services stupid so stupid

  • @j.h.9191
    @j.h.9191 6 років тому

    I am excited for this to come out. If they do the sports side right they will win over the men. If they do the disney side right by adding older tv shows and movies that are vaulted then you win over the women and younger adults and teens. You add in any Disney junior content and you win over the little kids. You add the new movies coming out you win over the movie theaters. This is a very smart move and I truly believe its going to be epic if they hit every single age bracket correctly giving something for all family members to enjoy without having to leave the comfort of home. Smart move disney and down the road grow that with maybe merging content with channels like abc ect especially with holiday programs and you are going to grow big time.
