Lyrics:
Take another little piece of my heart now, baby
Oh, oh, break it
Break another little bit of my heart now, darling, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Oh, oh, have a
Have another little piece of my heart now, baby
Well you know you got it, if it makes you feel good
Oh, yes indeed

Nobody can outdo Janis' version of this song. To me, she owns it. Everyone else pays rent. RIP Pearl
1000% 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Stone facts
Listen to Erma Franklin's original version sometime. Much different mood.
She´s reborn and so sweet in beauty... 🥰
Yeah, it's a decent cover.
By the way, who's Pearl?
I never much cared for Janis Joplin's singing until fairly recently! I'm 80 years old and am now appreciating the music of my time. Rock on where ever your soul is resting , Janis.....
Never forget.
I agree with last message. I'm 70 years old and happy I had Janis Joplin in my life. She was a revolution to the music world. Right on girl. Shout it out! ✌❤
Really know? Why you even mention your age like 100 people here? What age has to do with music preferences
Same here. 70 and still listening and getting my "Cheap Thrills" 🤗
U go sweetheart
God rest your beautiful soul Janis 🙏💔😥THE QUEEN OF ROCK & BLUES!!! 💐💐💐💐💐💐💐
Nothing but blues and soul and psychedelic rock and heartache and anguish and love. She poured every bit of her heart and soul into this song!!!
I’m 74 years old and I was at Big Brother’s and Janis at the Philly Electric Company Show. It was very small with low ceilings. You could barely see and breath from the smoke. We we’re all pushed up against the small stage! It still is just a special moment of my memory in my life. It was 1968I think? LOL I was actually attending Villanova at the time and selling Tickets at the Pie Shop. It was along time ago! The Electric Factory was just trying to get off the ground.
I was there too !!!
In honor of Janis Joplin, she passed away, 50 years ago today. Incredible talent and music, sadly she was only 27 years old. RIP Pearl
Pearl was the best, and she still is.
Wow, 50 years without Janis. That's insane.
Rest In Power Janis
I heard the news of her death on TV, I was just a child but it made me so terribly sad. I loved her.
27s club
The most perfect rock and roll song ever recorded. Janis nailed it. That's when I fell for her. And what a band to stay with her on this.
My ex wife was the spitting image of Janis and a carefree hippy child. It's probably the main reason I fell in love with her.
What a voice I am 75yrs old and still jamming to one of the greatest voices of all time
Keep Jamming, I am at 75 also and I will never let go of that feeling in Janis in me!!!!!!!
I never stop listening to Janis. Many have done this song. Janis does it best.
I love this song. I consider it my theme song. I am 70…..and I realize, this attitude is why I have remained single all my life 🤣🤣🤣
A Volcano which have broken so high, magical
It's flames ever devoring,
Its saine and saint fumes in our memories ever lasting,
Making us more vulnerables, more humains, more kings

As a BABYBOOMER..ABSOLUTELY NOTHING COMPARES TO THE ERA OF THIS MUSIC 🎶
My dad passed away last August at 90 years old. He grew up at the end of the jazz-WWII era and his huge record collection I inherited had all sorts of musical genres from jazz, early rock, classical, theater and movie show tunes. So my dad had a lot of different tastes in music. He wasn't a huge 60s plus rock fan but did love Ms. Joplin very much. This song was one of his favorites and I love listening to it now and thinking of my dad. Miss you! :)
Your father was a renaissance man. My dad would have missed Janis as "bloody rubbish!" I however love her.
W2g daddy
Have you read Mitch Albom’s “Magic Strings of Frankie Presto” yet? If you’re a fan of literature as well as music I suggest you do. Broke and lifted my heart all in one go. Bless you and stay safe xxx
Hold onto those wonderful memories , My Parents beat me like a bad dog , When they drank my father would beat me with his fists till i blacked out ! My Mothers famous weapon of choice was a extension cord and beat me till i had nothing but black and blue , I had enough at 1o years old and I tried to eat enough pills and slit my arms and wrists till I passed out , Woke in a mental hospital arms taped , Next step they had them electrocute my brain till I had zero memory , They called it electric shock therapy ( Good way of erasing what they did to me , ) Side note my Brother who is still alive at 70 years old filled me in on what truely happened !
Hence why I love the Blues !
Wow! Singing this out loud AGAIN at a rough time in 2023! made me feel GOOD! Thanks, always to Janis Joplin!
I'm right there with you.
Luna,
i used to sing when i'd drive just so i could belt it out LOUD,
i knew a girl once who when the train would roll thru she'd run down to the tracks & yell as loud as she could right at that train...it was her therapy...wishing u good
🙏💜🕯️🌱🐾👣🌿🌎🕊️
Take it!
@@mindsigh4 absolutely!
I can so relate!
I am 65 years old and in between realized that having grown up with the onset and rise of rock music was a great gift to my generation
Absolutely
Absolutely wonder time to grow up. 67 and listen to Janis all the time
I feel the same. I'm 64 and I feel so passionate about all the great music we have been able to experience! I love Janis.
I’m 13 and completely agree I love all the music from the 60s-70s music and to me it’s amazing it’s just so interesting and fun
Yes! I'm 61, and Janis Joplin's songs are just as wonderful today as when I first listened to them as a young girl in the 1960s.
Such a POWERFUL voice! My favorite song! I'm in my 70's, i have it on a CD in my car and like I did as a teen, turn up the volume and sing along! I get weird looks, for an old lady rocking down the road, but age is only on the OUTSIDE! ✌&❤
I get those looks too😊
you are not alone in rocking down the road with Janis{77}
This shows Rock and Roll will live on forever .
She was an absolute talented and tortured soul 🙏❣️
"I'm gonna show you baby that a woman can be tough". Great, GREAT lyric.
Yeah and she didn't write it - Jerry Ragovoy and Bert Berns did and Erma Franklin sung it first.
@@Hellwyck: It's still a great lyric, regardless of who wrote it or sang it first.
Im 72 FROM CALIFORNIA, I SEEN HER.IN Concert WHEN I WAS 18yrs .AND WOW SHE WAS AMAZING..❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love,love her music.She was awesome!
Wow!
Oh man I envy you somuch! That would have been the thrill if my life.
@@patriciariddle880 same here...im 50 and I've been listening to her since i was a teenager, that would have been a never forget thrill or my life event as well. And Dylan of course, those people were real song writers, not like the modern garbage. There was always a story...beautiful
Your so lucky to have seen her.
Her song and voice pulls the truth out of every one of us who've had our hearts broken. RIP Janice.
@@capt3662 Thank you for your service. A lot of people who served there never healed from the things they lived through. I wish you well.
Janis and Cheap Thrills 8 track served with me in the Nam
I'll never forget!❤0❤0
Everybody is talking about Janis but for me, this song is all about the great guitar work from Sam and James. This song had a huge impact on my style.
Come on now. It is a cover, and Janis turned it into Heaven on Earth. Certainly, no offence to the band, but again, come on now!!!
Absolutely, totally agree with how their blues rock tone has influenced me.
Any guitarist and drummer can read a tab but the talented make it their own 😊
@@Brian-qg8dg I personally find Janis‘s voice like nails on a chalkboard. I love the band though.
@@KevyNovano that title goes to Katy Perry. Screech and goose bumps. Joplin's voice? Powerful and raw and beautiful all at once. That is what makes her special as a singer.
Sam plays the solos on this one. But I agree, both guitarist were great and so was the entire band. Janis never should have left them.
One of my all-time favorite songs, She had such a powerful voice
Yeah Faith Hill tried to cover this as a country version and it was awful!
@@AnnaLVajda
yeah, Joplin digs deep on this one & slays it, that there comes from pain... deep down in yer heart
That's how your sopposed to sing rock music I love how Janis Joplin kinda just screams it out and it sounds perfect most people aren't able to do that they hold back to ,uch
One of the great blues voices of my generation, gone too soon. She had a tough exterior with a soft heart. She was so misunderstood at a time when men feared strong women. She was a pioneer in rock n roll and in life.
Janis Joplin
Sang
TAKE IT
Take another little piece a my heart
Now BABY!!
Janis Joplin
Was a talented rock.and roll singer
She sang TAKE IT
Take another little piece of my heart now baby
They still fear strong women, this toxic patriarchy will fall soon!
Yes, thank you. Men have always and always will fear strong women
Great singer. One of a kind in her days
Absolutamente irrepetible.❤❤❤❤❤❤
Somewhere in heaven, Janis was so happy and proud that people up to this day still appreciated this song !...Outstanding voice!..rare one of a kind!
My husband love her music and when he pass away I play her music in his wake .
Happy 80th birthday Janis Joplin!!!
One of the best singers of all time
I am 73 years old and this has always been my favourite teebage song//AND IT IS STILL GREAT
This is the BEST version of this song, Janis is feeling every word. What a amazing singer.
Wow grew up with Janice amazing❤❤❤
All time classic.
Born in 1959 and I thank GOD those were the best times of my life because of of the greatest artists in the world to listen to ❤
So sad one of many legends that died in that era.
Hendrix ,Redding ,Sam Cooke
I was 10 years old when Woodstock came about. And it was then that I first heard of Janis Joplin and what a great singer and performer she was, so I just had to hear her music for myself. At 10 yo I immediately became a Jan fan. I am now 60 and still love watching her live performance videos. There will never be anyone that even comes close.
You look amazing for your age!!! ❤️❤️❤️🤸♂️🤸♂️🤸♂️
couldn't agree more, she was a dynamo
She was shit at Woodstock. Admitted it herself.
@@bjorno2080 her humility apparently fooled at least one person ...

There will be enough but never be enough Janis Joplin that's and that's absolutely true big time bummer though
Janis Joplin a eterna rainha do blues 🇧🇷🎤🔥☮️🤘🏽❤️👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I loved Janis Joplin when I was about 5 years old in early 1970s. She'd sounded great looked great.
Playing in honor of a great legend who passed away 53 years ago.
In 1968 , I was an 8th grader .
I loved this Song . Still one of my favorite records . 😊😊
I was in 9th grade and when I saw her perform on TV at Woodstock i was gobsmacked! Just kept thinking at the time why are some of our most gifted people taken so young. I just adored everything about her. Loved her on Dick Cavetto, a real sweet Texan girl.
@@aidenhanseman2841 Most are gone due to not giving a f**k enough of the time. I have been lucky a few too many times, but now I choose to appreciate life for life, not for a challenge or something stupid. Shit happens when you tempt fait too often. Just saying
I'm 19, my Grandma introduced me to Janis Joplin when I was about 10-12 years old, her songs make it more special to me bc my grandma and I would listen to her all the time, she passed away in September 2019 due to multiple cancers. She passed at 59, she just turned 61 in December 2020.
Your grandma knows what is good. Bless her, she must be fuckung cool.
Best grandma ever ✌🏼❤️
You are very blessed to have shared this with her and to have these memories. Janis is one of a kind. Use your knowledge of Janis to explore the blues….you will love your Grandma even more ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi Katlyn! You are 21 now and I'm 83. Sometimes life takes pieces of my life... Tonight it gave a piece back and I thought of Janis... and here you were in comments! I just wanted to say hello and wish you well.
I rememer my mom singing Me and Bobby McGee....we lost her a year ago last June. I am thankful to hear this today.
I am 14 years old and told my dad a while ago that i like Janis Joplin. He became quite suprised as he told me, that not a lot of people around my age is familiar with her.
I am glad that i grew up with music like this.
I think that it’s a way better than most of the music people at my age listen to nowadays.
Today it is one of my all-time favourite songs, She had such an unique and powerful voice.
I'm 14 too and just discovered Janis, now listening all her albums
Yes girls I grew up in the late 70's missed Janis and Jimi love them just the same. New music can't touch it
Listening to this and comparing it with what passes for music industry "product" today makes me suspect that devolution is much more plausible than any sort of evolution. So much more alive.
You need to listen to Mike Keneally “cause of breakfast “
@marcrosen3958 Ya I listened, that song is terrible and doesn't compare at all to anything made in the 60s or 70s
Janice & her band were great. Janice is known for her edgy soulful powerful voice, but she was ALSO versatile. Listen to her when she sings "smoothly". What a great talent. She had great dynamics & could turn it on & off at will. This was a "live "performance in the studio which makes it great. Raw live honest power.
So true! No one has come close to how she sang ! Harsh , yet she can take it to another level. Comes from the heart!!!
I had the great privilege of meeting her in person when I was at summer camp, about 13 yrs old. She was incredibly gracious, allowing me to take her picture as she relaxed by the pool. That night, Big Brother & the Holding Company gave a performance in the mess hall for the campers and staff. I will never forget the electricity, the sheer energy that she radiated, with her entire body not just her voice.
WOW! Experience of a lifetime!!How cool!
Totally awesome... Once in a lifetime talent.. ahead of her time
FREIGHT TRAINS, LOCOMOTIVES, THE NOVEMBER 1968 TOP 10 SONGS OF ROCK AND ROLL, NEW YORK CITY. AND JANIS JOPLIN AND THE BIG BROTHER AND THE HOLDING COMPANY ...WE HAD THEM ALL...ALL AT THE SAME TIME.

Janis had a wounded soul her music showed that
My dad had this album and he used to play it all the time when I was growing up. This was one of his favorite songs. ❤️
Me too
You’re cute.
This is a product of pouring your whole soul into a song
She would have been 80 today. Gone too soon. but still here.
"... but still here."

Graduated high school in 1966, college in 1970, survived Viet Nam in 1973. What a fabulous time for music. Rock, Folk, Protest, Psychedelic. nothing like that has happened since.
Welcome home brother
Oh my goodness, what a voice!
I love everything about this song. The guitar work! The bass! Those drums! The singer's not too shabby either.
Her voice is perfect for this song. I can't imagine anyone else singing it as perfectly as she did 🔥🔥🔥
Bellissimo brano
Love this song
Me either! No one else could do it justice!
Her first chart hit with the Holding Company. From October 68. I was 15! Terrific guitar solo!
Janis Joplin sempre foi e sempre será a Eterna Rainha do Rock & Blues!
A maior cantora que o mundo conheceu!
This is the song that gets me.. my mother (my biological grandmother who adopted me from birth) showed me right from wrong.... 70's hippe, was a huge help in the hiv epidemic. told me numerous stories from her time. she passed 10/31/22 born 11/1/56 she was my heart and my soul. i miss her with all of my heart. i highly doubt folks will see this. i was born 02/26/02 you can do the math. i feel myself getting older and appreciating the good times with family. my aunt ( her sister, my family tree is very confusing lol) took me in after her passing and i will forever be grateful. been put in a position to move my life forward further than i ever thought i would.... She was the kindest person you could EVER meet... it was me and her in her last few years of her life, in a little trailer in north carolina... i did everything i could, it was hard.... i was young, dumb and naive.... oh what i would do to go back.. im venting at this point... man it was a rough time but i tried...... will never in my life forget that last 2 weeks in the ICU (i had to make every decision, i was the medical power of attorney......) to sum it up, she would give you any and everything she had.... she blessed me with knowledge that is unforgettable... god i miss her.... best woman i ever knew/ ever will know..... would give my life for a 10 second conversation.... please yall appreciate your loved ones while you got them, life isnt forever, i hope i see her again.........
she saw many of janis's concerts... janis was her favorite.... god rest both of their souls.....
I’m thankful for my mother for many things, and showing me this song is definitely one of them

Hi I'm 63. I grew up listening to her because my Mom 🎉
I'm 44 and she's a piece of my.hearynand soul! ❤
She definitely was a trailblazer, just like Janis Joplin and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts. This is probably the best rock song ever recorded in history!!!
The psychedelic sixties at its musical best! Janis Joplin really knew how to rock back in the day!
In the winter of 2010, I was a DJ at my college's radio station. I primarily played punk, new wave, and pop. Sixties rock was never really my thing. One night, when setting up my playlist, Piece Of My Heart came on the automated tracks that played when no DJ was on air. My jaw hit the floor. I couldnt believe anyone could have a voice like that. Sixties rock still isn't my thing but this song remains one of my all time favorites. It certainly made numerous plays on my radio show over the next four years.
WHAT A MASTERPIECE
This melody was stuck in my head for days. I had to hum it on google to find it and it was worth it
Wow the first 30 seconds of this song is like a time machine for me.. I wore this album out. She made natural curly wild hair popular in the 60s when straight hair was the thing. Thanks for saving me and my long Natural curly red hair in high school Janis, .. Wish life had handed you a better deal.
I’ve heard this!! Love the rawness! She really had a unique & incredible voice 😢
I love that her voice is so unique love it
Love this song
Everything about the Mad Lass is unique, it’s lovely
Name another vocalist who could produce a 2-note chord!
Happy Birthday Janis Joplin. Today is January 19th and she would have been 81 today. You will as always be one of my few favorite female singers from my era ''60s' and '70s. No one can sing like you sang, or sing your songs like you did. I will still say this today when one is being lauded as your reincarnation. The young lady I am speaking of has a powerful voice and I like her. But Janis, no she is not. I say that without prejudice. JMO Happy Birthday Janis.
A spirit that was taken from people too soon...A long time, before I wasn’t born yet ❤️😢
If this song isn't the definition of true love I don't know what is. Break my heart take my heart. Over and over again
Спасибо! Это лучшее исполнение нашей Дженис Джоплин❤🎉😊😊😊
Hard to believe if things went differently she could still be alive today.
Our time is fragile and precious. I hope she knows she helped us enjoy our precious time on this earth.
Ms Janis has such great strength in her voice She took big brother and holding comfort the top and Ms Janis own montery pop WHAT a beautiful Talent I love you sister Janis Joplin now rest in peace and with love and mercy I'll see you heaven
Thank you for your kindness Ms Janis was hell on wheels I wished I could have met her ,but I can sy she own montery pop and everyone knows that
Big Brother & The Holding Company was one of the bands Janis Joplin performed with (as lead vocalist) before going solo later in 1968. Until her passing in 1970, “Piece Of My Heart” was her biggest success and best-known piece*. Although she wasn’t the first to record it, the single remains most associated with Joplin and kept on getting airplay long after her death.
Janis Pearl Joplin sang “Piece Of My Heart” at Woodstock in 1969 as part of her encore❕ 💙💜💚
Always loved, never forgotten, forever missed will you remain, Janis Lyn Joplin (1943 - 1970)… 🌹
* The posthumous “Me And Bobby McGee” reached #1 in 1971.
Your information is almost AI.. hahah FYI Big Brother was more than just one of the bands she played with lol lol And the main focus of her solo still had Big Brother in it. Anyway
I voted for her in the finale. Her Piece of My Heart was over the top good.
Oh, come on, come on, come on, come on!
Didn't I make you feel like you were the only man - yeah!
An' didn't I give you nearly everything that a woman possibly can ?
Honey, you know I did!
And each time I tell myself that I, well I think I've had enough,
But I'm gonna show you, baby, that a woman can be tough.
I want you to come on, come on, come on, come on and take it,
Take it!
Take another little piece of my heart now, baby!
Oh, oh, break it!
Break another little bit of my heart now, darling, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Oh, oh, have a!
Have another little piece of my heart now, baby,
You know you got it if it makes you feel good,
Oh, yes indeed.
You're out on the streets looking good,
And baby deep down in your heart I guess you know that it ain't right,
Never, never, never, never, never, never hear me when I cry at night,
Babe, and I cry all the time!
But each time I tell myself that I, well I can't stand the pain,
But when you hold me in your arms, I'll sing it once again.
I'll say come on, come on, come on, come on and take it!
Take it!
Take another little piece of my heart now, baby.
Oh, oh, break it!
Break another little bit of my heart now, darling, yeah,
Oh, oh, have a!
Have another little piece of my heart now, baby,
You know you got it, child, if it makes you feel good.
I need you to come on, come on, come on, come on and take it,
Take it!
Take another little piece of my heart now, baby!
Oh, oh, break it!
Break another little bit of my heart, now darling, yeah, c'mon now.
Oh, oh, have a
Have another little piece of my heart now, baby.
You know you got it - whoahhhhh!!
Take it!
Take it! Take another little piece of my heart now, baby,
Oh, oh, break it!
Break another little bit of my heart, now darling, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
Oh, oh, have a
Have another little piece of my heart now, baby, hey,
You know you got it, child, if it makes you feel good.

Remembering Janis Joplin today on her birthday, who would be 77
Happy Birthday, Queen!!! Love u always!!!
God, that's a mindfuck, isn't it?
Too bad she's not here to listen to her music
She'd of been one hell of an old lady.
So exactly 50 years older than she was when she passed.... damn that hits different..... sure she'd still rock if she were around like the Stones do

Yeah this is simply fantastic.

Wonderful living in the SF Bay Area when Big Brother & T.H.C., with the down and dirty J.J. were doing live shows. And a big hats off to Robert Crumb for his most excellent interpretation of what a boss album cover should be like. May not be fully welcomed in the 2020s, but who cares.
Ironically, the Robert Crumb artwork was meant to be the back cover (which explains why it lists the band members and song titles like the back covers of most albums in those days) but Janis, who was a fan of underground comic art, demanded it be made the front cover instead.
The best combination of psychedelia and blues
and real hard rock n' roll
I have this on original 60s vinyl (was from my parents collection).
Brilliant Album. Incredible song. Only one person possesses that voice that cuts your soul.
My favorite part is the wail at 3:32.
Have never forgotten this music or this album in 50 years! And what a memorable album cover, just wow!
Growing up in the sixties was the greatest time...and my thanks to boyhood friends Nick and his brother Mike who turned me on to this album...it will always remind me of you and your family...Peace and Love my brothers 🙏

I've been listening too Janis for many of years. I loved her beautiful song. Gone way too soon R.I.P Janis Joplin ❤
A true rocker in an age when female rock artists were much fewer than now.
Great song and artist. I couldn't believe it when I was in Whole Foods and heard this coming on the speakers! She really made it all the way for that to happen!
I really like how Janis Joplin sings, even though she's not in my era as a younger generation. Her demeanor on stage really inspires me as a singer. She is one of my favourites.❤❤❤

They say a person dies twice, once in the mortal coil, and the second comes the last time someone says your name. I pray Janis carries on.
Janis Joplin gave "shoutin' the Blues" a WHOLE New meaning!!!
The music of the 70s was one of the greatest eras of amazing music… maybe it was the time or the drugs or the freedom or the fact that you could buy a house, a car and go to college while working for min. Wage…
I advise caution if you plan to read her biography as I did cuz the more I read I, (well I'm almost ashamed to admit this), I felt like I was falling in love with her. It really grabbed me by the feels. Her close personal friends must have been truely devistated by her passing.
I loved her so much, no body can replace her voice & sing like her, I wanted to be her when I was younger, dressed like her, lived life using drugs, then grew up, funny how becoming a mom changes you............
👍👍 the one & only Janis 👍👍
