There was one final Ash opening that was mostly a compilation of old events because there was a very short 11 episode send off for Ash.
That was indeed Ash in every opening except the Horizons one.
I remember hearing about how people were MAD about the way Ash looked in Sun and Moon😅

He was also missing from the first Black and White intro, since it only featured Pokémon.
Also, I felt neutral towards the art style change because it was just that: a different art style.

i used to watch the english dub but only watch the show in japanese now;
1 because when Sun/Moon aired i realized i didn't have to rewatch all the episodes
& 2 because the bgm, intros & outros are so much better

I honestly like the jap opening of horizons better than the dub. Probably partial given I have been watching the show subbed since horizons started

For the new companions after Misty and Brock
Orange Islands: Tracey was a Pokémon Sketch Artist. Not really based on anyone from the games.
Advanced Series: May and her little brother Max. May is based on the female trainer you can pick in the Gen 3 games.
Diamond Pearl: Dawn, based on the female trainer you can play as for Gen 4.
Black and White: Cilan and Iris, both Gym Leaders from the Gen 5 games. Neither were very popular for the fans at the time.
XY: Serena, Clemont, and Bonnie. All from the games, Serena being the female trainer or rival depending on the gender you pick. Clemont is a Gym Leader and Bonnie is his little sister.
Sun and Moon: Lillie is a main character from the games. The rest are Gym Leaders. Mallow, Lana, Kiawe, and Sophocles.
Pokémon Journeys: Go is an original character for the series. Probably some inspiration from the Pokémon Go mobile app.
I believe the reason why Ash and the general art style looks so different is because after the XY series everything was made in a different studio. I believe the one that made the previous anime’s were currently working on something and needed a different studio to work on it for them
No the anime was still being animated by OLM Team Kato. Team Kato took over the anime from S13
For the latest season 'Horizons', we have new protagonists Liko and Roy. Ash's tale had ended on a high note at the end of the 13-episode special, "To Be a Pokémon Master' which happens after 'Journeys' story with one question "What does it REALLY mean to be a 'Pokémon Master'?" He travels with Misty and Brock one more time, just traveling for traveling's sake with no big goal anymore.
I still can’t believe Pokemon has 25 seasons. This show will always be amazing to me

I was born in the late 2000s but I remember watching the 1990/ the first season of pokemon and listening to the intro brought back memories of a simpler time

I think you should react to it all. It’s a long journey but it’s amazing and I do like the new art style from Gen 7 and the story is good.
It is funny when people say ash looks younger since sun and moon because he’s always 10
Ash's artstyle and character matured every season till XYZ, which was the climax of all he had learnt. I mean look at Greninja vs Charizard. It just that the artsyle changing to reflect that he is a child yet also make him win the next major tournaments, its sad.
That second intro theme Pokemon World just SLAPS so hard

Yes there's tournaments in each region (a region lasts like 3-4 season and each region introduce new places, pokemons, characters). Ash tries to collect eight badges so he can participate in the Pokemon League. He goes through a lot of problems in his adventure but you can see him get evolve in each region.

Man, every time I hear the 25th opening, i get hit with the feels.
I think you should react to it all. It will take A LONG TIME to finish, since Pokémon itself hasn't ended yet, but it would DEFINITIVELY be great. There aren't many people that do react to it here, and the ones that do aren't "as good reactors as you", so I would really enjoy to see you react to it all. Even when people talk sh*t about the "most recent seasons", i would go as far to say that Pokemon only gets better and better, because there wasn't a single time, while i was watching it, that I thought "Oh, I wish Pokemon had stayed just like it was in the start" or something like that. In short, it's a great journey, and it's totally worth it watching it all.

The Only bad one is black and white. Cuz they just rebooted Ash and pikachu back to season 1 but worse.
@@ebi-chan2970 I mean, I am pretty fine with Black and White, i actually liked it. Ash being rebooted and Pikachu pretty much going back to level 5 helps keeping things balanced, since it would reach a point where Trip wouldn't even exist, since he isn't exactly the strongest rival, you know?

There is no best or worst song every song has its own unique charm and tries to do its own thing they can coexist not everything needs to be a competition

I'd suggest doing the Japanese openings too. They're way longer and way more consistent.

6-9 Hoenn/Kanto (gen 3) Ash, May, Max and Brock
10-13 Sinnoh (gen 4) Ash, Dawn and Brock
14-17 Unova (gen 5) Ash, Iris and Cilan
18-20 Kalos (gen 6) Ash, Serena, Clemont and Bonnie
21-23 Alola (gen 7) Ash, Kiawe, Lana, Mallow, Lillie, Sophocles and Rotom Dex
24-25 Galar/worldwide (gen 8) (theme is travelling to many different regions rather than staying in just one) Ash and Goh
26 Paldea (gen 9) Liko and Roy
Ash does not appear in Horizons because his tale is complete, and the show will now focus on new characters instead of Ash (the Pikachu that appears in the Horizons OP is a different one). Misty stopped traveling with Ash due to needing to look after the Cerulean Gym, and Brock stopped after Sinnoh to focus on being a Pokemon Doctor, hence the different lineups of traveling companions after Johto. Also important to note that some episodes have been banned or unaired in some countries for a variety of reasons (usually a natural disaster in Japan or racism/violence concerns), with the most notable happening in gens 1, 2, 5 and 7. That aside I really enjoy most of the English OPs, with one of my favorites being Unbeatable (Advanced Battle theme).
You forgot the second opening of Pokemon Ultimate Journeys which paid tribute to Ash and the end of his journey.
The first Pokémon theme from the original series indigo league is still such a freaking tune, when it pops up on shuffle on Spotify it’s turned up loud every time ❤
Yes it’s still Ash, Sun and Moon artstyle change was drastic. It made my little brother want to quit watching. I was able to convince him until Master Journeys then he just quit
The first opening for Pokemon Advanced is incredibly nostalgic to me. Gen 3 was my starting point for Pokemon. I did go back and watch the seasons from Kanto and Johto, but Advanced and D&P were the generations from my childhood. I watched a good portion of Black & White, but in all honesty, that's around the point I stopped watching entirely (around 12yo). I went back and watched a few episodes of XY, but never got into it. I still collect the cards to this day though. Pokemon has had a great impact on my life.
the amazing thing with the first pokemon black & white intro is when it was being shown in japan all the pokemon were silhouettes until they were shown in an episode so as the series got further more of the pokemon were shown fully in the intro animation.
been a charmander boy forever a charizard boy, but I also like treeckop and sceptile, and swampert/mudkip
its funny how so many people react to the english openings first but not the japanese ones… for the first several seasons the eng ones are iconic sure but the jp ones are pure joy to listen to 😭 and the newer ones are so hype too. good reaction tho hope to see a follow up soon 👍

Ok so all the first 2 gen themes have extended versions of them bc they were in a movie or on a CD. Like johto journeys have a remixed version in the 3rd movie but the same singer as the normal version but that extended song is on the CD. Only unbeatable has an extended theme ( all the movie ones are around like 2-3 mins longer) battle frontier has a little extended version but only about 40 seconds longer. Then skipping ahead to gen4. The tenth movie has we will be heroes ( kind of a remix) more of a rock version and longer. Then op 12 has a movie version and 13 d9es in the last ep of sinnoh when ash is imagining him fighting cynthia. Gens 5 and 6 themes all have movie versions and the journeys is an actual song sung by a band lol.
So Ash was in every intro aside from Horizons - the 1st in the series to not feature Ash at all. Galactic Battles had 2 English intros where it focused around the 6th & 7th gyms respectively, Adventures in Unova had 3 intros that focused on 3 main arcs: the Unova League, N & Team Plasma, & the Decolore Islands that lead back to Kanto. The reason Ash looks different in Sun & Moon intros onwards was during the Gen 7 era it was more slice of life, Journeys takes place during Gen 8 the Galar Region
It’d be a certainly long journey but it’d be cool to see all of them. I may be able to send a list of all the movies and OVAs that shows the best order to watch those with the show
The hoenne theme just hits diff for me
As a Pokémon fan who joined the fandom in Black & White and started playing the games in Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, I love Pokémon! I don’t love every part of it but I love the Pokémon themselves. The Sun & Moon art style change was jarring but it was clear it was to show the difference in how the story was going to work and the tone of the series but it was the series that gave Ash his Champion title and Journeys was his fair well story. I’m yet to watch much of Horizons but I’m looking forward to seeing where it will go with the new characters.
my biggest issue with the modern english openings is how much shorter they are than the older and japanese openings. The songs are so good but we rarely get to hear the full versions of the songs.
Anyways for gen 1 starters, i usually pick bulbasaur, but i grew up with yellow so i always boxed my pikachu and got all 3 ;p
Ash was in all of them except for Horizons because Ash’s journey ended in Pokemon Journeys, and Horizons is the next protagonists journey.
Awesome reaction. If you decide to react to the series, I recommend the Diamond and Pearl series. I’m not sure if it’s the best series (I stopped after gen 6) but it’s definitely a good one. The 4 movies during this generation are really good. The Rival and one of the villain arcs are also very good.

I have started watching the show when I was 6 years old (found it zapping through the TV when I got home from school and my father still prepared lunch) which was when they aired the seasons in Hoenn and later Sinnoh in my country. Especially the ones in Sinnoh (Diamond Pearl/ Galactic Battles, that era) were really good.
Heard a few years later that the X/Y seasons were good, so I checked them out and liked that Ash felt more mature. Really felt like, despite them officially never saying it of course, that he had aged and developed.
Long story short, to answer your question: I hated what they did with the Sun/Moon artstyle change. Felt like they regressed Ash back to be more childish for no real reason.

Johto themes are my favorites. For a little context to you’re question of Ash rotation of his team every new region he started fresh with only Pikachu being in every team obviously. He he only brought back some very few times for specific battles.
Pokemon has more episodes then one piece you would be here for years watching it it took me about 7 months to watch
The English version are just an abbreviated version of the Japanese Openings, highly recommend them. By abbreviated, i mean there are more good visuals and different songs (the english version arent translated songs)
Most people disliked the art direction of Sun and Moon anime when it was announced because it was different, myself included. Then I watched it, and realized it allowed them to do so much more with the anime. Sun and Moon seasons were a lot of fun, and felt more like a traditional anime. They started fleshing out all the characters, and got to let you have a real sense of space of where they lived, for a change. Kiawe is also second best male support after Brock.
Professor Kukui also has the most personality of all the Professors, to the point where he seemed heavy handed at first, but it was just because were used to every Professor besides Oak being a cardboard stand in, and even he stopped getting good moments after the 4th movie. Or Professor Ivy's plot. The plot that Brock liked. But Kukui's a real one.

The fact I havent seen pokemon since pokemon frontier battles, yet I know exactly where their pokemon game counter part are, just because some characters they use. Lol. Storywise pokemon black and white is the best from the games

It boggles my mind that everyone is completely missing out on the Pokemon Horizons second OP. Also Horizons is a brand new Pokemon series with a new protagonist and I highly recommend as it is only 38 episodes so far in subs. Ash has been retired.
The sheer drop from intensity when it left xyz to sun and moon made me lose a lot of interest in Pokémon, wasn’t a fan of any of their intro really, but journeys really brought me back to

As someone whos first pokemon was XY, i simply cant watch the original ones because the animation and the graphics throw me off, and the battles in XY(Z) are simply legendary. For the longest time i thought the XY version of the pokemon theme was the original😂. But i dont diss anyone who prefers the original
14:44 oh you shouldve been there when these seasons were airing. NOONE was happy. Xy and XYZ were peak pokemon with the greatest story and a proper mature art style, then the animators went with the childish artstyle and the story was nothing compared to XYZ, like it was a normal pokemon season story. But XYZ left pokemon fans expecting the next season to be another banger... but sadly it was not. Its still controversial but the talks have died down cuz ash has left the anime

I vividly remember watching the first season multiple times due to reruns. I kept watching it but less frequent in the seasons after. Probably after the third season I started to watch it sporadically and around the time Misty dipped, I also dipped. I think I just grew out of the Pokémon age bracket and the show was just repeating itself at that point and I didn't care for new characters coming in to replace the characters I loved. I also really disliked Ash getting new Pokémon and saying goodbye to most of them.
Ash is in every opening except the last one. They switch up the companions every new generation.

You should watch the japanese ones, while the others decrease a bit in epicness the japanese ones periodically increase in epicness. Also, until Horizons is same old Ash, in Horizons is the new protagonist, Liko, and no, she's not related to Ash.

I'm biased as I started at XY amd XYZ but I definitely recommend you to start there as well as it is the most popular series for good reason.
I'm also an XY&Z Stan but I would like him to see Satoshi's grow over the generations(except Black and White)

IMO the English ones are better from Kanto/gen1 to Sinnoh/gen4 (with some exceptions) but from XY(&Z)/gen6 the Japanese's ones are better 🔥🔥🔥
