I only started watching soccer when Messi (who I had never heard of) started playing 5 miles from me here in South Florida. I was told it was a big deal and holy cow, I have been watching US sports all my life and I have never had my pulse skyrocket like it did tonight watching penalty shots for the cup. I am now a fan and arguably the reason Messi came to the MLS. To make the sport mainstream to new folks like myself.
