I have the sc6000s and they are a total BEAST !! I prefer to have them at home. I. Getting my Prime 4 soon.
I hope they keep updating this engine and prime 4
We are sure they will do!
Great Video Thanks. I love the Dennon Gear and Actually used to work as Pioneer as a Hardware Engineer. I jumped boats a good year ago and super happy. The firmware is getting better and Batter, I recently hooked up some Instruments via Midi to the X1850 mixer and worked nicely but not perfect.
Thanks for your Vloggs and showing the community advice.
When i win this decks in the competition, this vid is gona be helpful🙌🙌🙌
keep the content coming guys
Will do! Thanks!
Great video ! Very informative, and just what I needed. Many thanks Holland. :)
Great video and advice !!!
Watching this although I don’t have a denon Unit 😂
You'll know how to install a SSD if you ever do buy one though!
Crossfader yes! The more you know your gear, the better DJ you can be
@@teho_disl Knowledge is power :)
Best controller at this time
EJAY if you can afford it though! That’s the thing with DJ equipment it’s PRICY, but if you compare the prime 4 with the XZ the Price to Performance ratio is very Good for the Prime 4
Will it transfer all of my crates from ITunes without changing them?
I dont own this product I use a SX3, but I still watched all the way through & liked, you guys are cool keep up the good work.
Thanks for watching man!
I would recommend a better quality SSD such as Crucial's own MX500 series which is a step above the BX series shown in this video. Generally you want to avoid budget SSDs as they have less quality control and less quality components that may give a shorter lifespan.
Definitely this. As an IT guy i have seen quite a few budget line SSD's die in the past year alone. I would say with a worse failure rate than a conventional HDD. So yes, Premium SSD all the way. Especially if your earning ££. Reliability is key.
@@dj_paultuk7052 Right on Paul as I am an IT guy myself. We have tried many brands and models of SSDs and the better Crucial or Samsung ones have proven to be reliable. The Crucial BX500 and Samsung QVO lines have worse quality control as we have had some defected new units. The MX 500 or Evo lines are more consistent.
@@vegacultura In our written article we have linked to a Samsung 860 model, however for the purposes of this demonstration we used the MX500 as we had one available to us!
I think i will go for one SanDisk Ultra 3D 1 To or Western Digital Blue 3D 1To (it's the same product, since WD own Sandisk...)
I will add one SSD in each Denon DJ SC6000M CD player, these two SSD got the same good write / read speed, and Sandisk offer a long warranty of 5 years,
I did some math before, 1 TO = 1099511627776 octet and one mp3 file 320 kbps of 20 Mo = 22 408 322 octets for an audio track of 9 minutes and the result is close to 49 000 mp3 files like this one.
50000 MP3 files is the recommended max size of the Engine DJ software database. and after some years I will buy a new SSD when mine will be full.
I already have 15,000 files in my database and that represents thousands of hours of music, If I buy around one thousand of mp3 file per year, I can last for 30 years before filling the SSD drive.
@@dj_paultuk7052would a 4tb ssd
Or a 3tb ssd like samsung 870 evo?
What 3.0 port adapter did you use in the video? Thanks for any information.
This was just the video I was wanting. Many thanks for the info on this! :D
Glad it was helpful! Anytime at all!
how to input & save music to the denon sc6000m from usb stick with a internal drive already inside the media player
Can you preload the music on the drive before installing in to the Engine Prime 4?
Hi I know I'm late but I just purchased the prime 4 and wanted to know where do I purchase the hard drive for this unit?
Do I need to format a new usb stick? Or can I transfer the music from Mac to usb and play on prime 4+
do you have a video with windows 10
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO
Data management should be made soo much easier! I have to make another crate/playlist everytime i want to transfer new music! Pls help me if i am doing something wrong.
You can manually drag and drop songs onto the Prime 4 within Engine Prime. Check out our getting started with Engine Prime video and guide for more information!

@@Crossfader i know that, but when i want to sync all files to my harddisk in the prime4 it deletes the tracks i dont have anymore on my pc... I want to use the prime4 as my backup machine for all my tracks, 2tb ssd i am using
Wow that’s cool 😎🔥🔥🔥
It's really dope!
Great video
Hi - what is the biggest size to install in this machine .. e.g. i may think to use this:
Micron 5300 PRO - thanks for help.
Thanks for your great content as always. I was wonder though, which is the best format. EX FAT or FAT 32 ?
ExFat is recommended for larger collections so we would go with that! :)
Understood. Thanks and keep up the good work 👍
@@happyclapperac Thank you!
nfts is the best file format does denon support that format if not why because fat 32 is very dated now
@@kdeeuk fellow Prime 4 owner here. According to Denon, only extFAT and FAT32 are supported. As an IT guy also, extFAT is faster than FAT32 so that's what I recommend you use. According to Denon, there's also no SSD/HDD size limitation either, so feel free to use whichever storage size you'd like. Hope this helps! 👍
Great Video!
Any other videos that doesn't use a Apple OS software laptop? Looking for a video for Windows OS installation? Thank you Cheers!
Hi, great video! Any idea if there’s a storage limit?
Would serato dj pro recognize the hard drive?
I just got off Denon website “There is no drive capacity size limitation, this is to support DJs with larger uncompressed file collections (WAV, AIFF, FLAC etc).”
I have a denon prime 4 and I think they said 1Tb max
Great video! I Just bought the DEnon Prime 4+. I already ordered and installed the 2.5 1TB SATA SSD. What do I need to do to transfer/copy my music, crates (Hot Cues and other Info) from Serato to this new SSD?
Perfect video 👍🏻
does the sc 4 live have a hard drive slot?
Pioneer users be like..... Hard drive ?.
Pioneer users be like.... WTF
😂
I have a prime 4 ÷ what ssd can i bay for it teel me somme sata disc please to bay.
Great video. Can I use a PC as the main computer with Engine prime instead of a Mac? Like to format the drive within the Prime model using a PC machine and all the other steps? Will the Prime models still read and work like in this video? Or will a crash happen? Also can the drive within the prime model not be formatted as NTFS?
My pc couldn’t recognise the prime 4 unit so I just formatted the ssd separately and just use it to record test mixes onto which is better than nothing but i wish it did what you are meant to do with it .
Mine doesn't recognize my prime 4 also... were u able to figure out how too?
G3ah Vicious no I didn’t figure it out so I just use a portable usb stick to put tracks onto the unit and go to and from engine prime on the pc when I need to edit playlists etc onto the usb stick .
Hopefully that helps as I spent days trying to figure out a way to start to enjoy the prime 4 and that kind of works just not how I hoped it would be . Prime 4 is amazing though really happy with it apart from this problem
Hi Holland, What is the difference between Fat32 and exFAT? ps, I checked the other videos on the site and none of them tell you how to load my file directly into the hard drive I installed. HELP! I only have a desktop computer.
how do we change it to exFAT on a windows laptop?
Can you delete songs from the SSD while in the unit. And if you can how do you go about it.
You'd need to connect it to the computer again and delete from within Engine Prime and resync
@@Crossfader Ok. Thanks.
GOOD VIDEO very informative. One thing tho couldn't you format the hard drive before you install it in the prime 4. that's what i did with my prime 2. that way all you have to do is install it in the prime 4
You could but you'd need a way of mounting the hard drive to the computer without the Denon Deck. You can buy cheap USB cables to adapt, but it's cheaper and easier to do it this way as everything you need is included in the box with the player!
@@Crossfader yep your correct thanks for the response
Hello, I have the prime 4 and installed a sk hynix gold s31 ssd sata 2.5 and connected the blue USB cable it came with to my laptop with windows 8 it doesn't seem to read it. I can hear some tones like it read it but nothing shows on my desktop or anywhere. I also bought a 128g USB stick and my laptop reads that one. I was able to format the USB stick but cant format the hard drive to the prime 4. Any help would be great. Thanks have a good one
Would a 4tb ssd run on it or is it too big?
Did you actually test that ssd will be faster with loading and playing music? I would like to see the difference.
it is faster guaranteed. SSD drives have no moving parts to slow the controller down. Moving parts create latency.
Plus its silent, more robust, draws less power and generates less heat.
And as DJ you really gonna be fine with 512Gb or 1Tb, that's tons of music.
I got rid of this. Nothing beats a controller and laptop. They have lots of stepping up to do.
@@lag3432 Well enjoy the Serato face then.
Very helpful thank you
You're welcome!
I'm using beatport link with the SC6000S. When it loads up it days hot cues and loops cant be saved with current drives. Will this be resolved if install a sata drive in the back of the unit ??
Yes
Ok so I have a 1tb ssd. Its in exfat. When i try to copy my playlists from rekordbox it doesn't recognise it because rekordbox prefers fat32. I cant change my ssd as there's no option.
But you said format ssd to either fat32 or exfat. New ssd won't allow that.
I can't go through engine to convert as its not allowing it. Any advice please as I have 10 years of playlists and DO NOT want to start again. Thanks
Doesn’t work i dont have the blue cable i have a usb cable though. My mac will does not do anything when connected in computer mode wont recognise its even connected ?
Once I add music to the prime 4 HD from the engine software, can I add more later without exporting all the crates again ?
Do export everything each time I add music?
You can just shot them over with sync manager and it just updates rather than rewrites
Can you delete music from the ssd using your prime 4 hardware ?
Hi thanks for video.. After i install ssd drive to my denon prime 4. .. And i could find my new ssd on the prime dj on desktop. To format.. I follow you set by set still can't format my new Samsung ssd in my prime 4... Ummmmmm feel bad...
Are you using Mac or Windows? Where does the issue occur when you try to format the drive?
so haveing a 2 t hard drive is no good if formating fat 32, you need to format nfts file mode to use the whole hdd
Is the pioneer xdj xz or denon prime 4 better?
Have you tried loadingtimes with an SSD and a Hard drive? Because with such little amount of data it should not make a big different. So you could use an HDD from an old laptop if you have some flying around ; )
You can always use a HDD, we haven't got any specific load time data available but it's more with the searching of larger music collections where the SSD is recommended over the HDD. Great point though, old laptop hard drives are perfect for use!
If you have ever used a laptop with a conventional HDD you would know they dont like being knocked around. So as a DJ carrying decks around in a flight case i would rather use an SSD than a rotating hard drive. Agreed. HDD will still be 15x faster than a USB key anyway in any case.
How put logo on prime 4 ?
We explain how in our tips guide here!
wearecrossfader.co.uk/blog/5-top-tips-for-denon-dj-prime-users/
Followed this exactly twice and still get a ton of red files saying it cannot find some of the source files.
So cool
We think so, it's great being able to quickly jump on and DJ without needing to find our USB's!
@@Crossfader yah it is a great thing but i dont have a single dj controller yet so I wish I have 1 of your hard drive thingy and also a denon dj prime 4
What's the hard drive name?
We used a 240gb Crucial SSD for this example, though you can fit a larger model should you wish. I'll leave a link below to the model used in the video.

directly playlist that i use in traktor or should i have to build over again all the playlist becouse the folder i use has deferent songs on ?
track volume to set
Please send me name hard drive
the title picture is wrong. it is HDD, not HD!
👍👍👍
I did bought a USB stick 256gb ssd instead of hard drive. Easier to take it with you when you dj in the club where is Pioneer gear
👍
😎
I really wish you would of also done this on a PC. Because I'm not seeing shit.
look up how to format hard drive on a pc. Follow the instructions on formatting the hard drive. Once it is formated the computer will recognize it as a drive.
Just got one of these. Can’t use it until I do some Tom foolery to get my MacBook running 10.14 as Engine won’t run on less, which is a shitter!
So you people got vdj in your laptop and never talked about it recently?
At the moment none of our team use Virtual DJ or know it well enough to offer content on it. As you've noticed, it is something we are looking into more but until we feel completely comfortable with knowing the software inside out, we won't be creating content on it. We always aim to offer our community full in depth knowledge, including technical help on the software and hardware we cover, this just isn't possible with VDJ at the moment.
@@Crossfader move out of the box, it's the best on the market, serato got hardwares, that's why they still survive, but outdated. At least recordbox is trying to reach levels of vdj among softwares. VDJ supports every hardware on the market, just plug and play, okay with some few hardware you need to remap a bit, but it's hussle free and on some hardwares, users made custom mapping and are all available in settings. I use pioneer sx2 on vdj.
@@mwitamathnyamosi7847 Recommending a beginner to move away from the software that came with the product they own is opening a huge can of worms. MIDI mapping and installing extra's to make controllers work maybe easy for more advanced DJ's but it's not something we want to be promoting to beginner users.
We appreciate the benefits of Virtual DJ and we are actively looking at covering it's features, hence it being installed on our computers. As I mentioned though, until we are confident enough to offer full support to our community we don't feel we are the right people to create content on the software at this stage. This may all change in the future but that's our stance at the moment. Our priority will always be helping our community and we need to be sure that we can do that fully. - Holland
@@Crossfader for vdj no extra instalation needed, everything is just right in the box(plug and play) and they update frequently. With my sx2 I only mapped effects like the way serato works with them(that solution is also in the box, I didn't notice that they intergrated a fully mapping from two other dj's who sent to atomix their custom maps), but all other stuffs are just there.
I hope you will soon cover it's features.
Thanks in advance!
imagine buying a sata ssd
m.2 slots
m.2 for music 🤡
LMAO
Followed the instructions perfectly like a robot and my PC {not a laptop} does not read the $130 Samsung EVO 2T SSD I installed perfectly into my Denon 6000M...... If the drive does not show up..... I can not format it. Denon's booklet that comes with the player has ZERO info on how to do this install so buyers must use YT for more info. 🤨
Great information
