It gives a visual que to motorists in case they didn't notice the indicators.
Yeah in over 30 years of driving in WA I've never once seen a semi truck turn left at lights from the right lane. Every now and then you see one that's half in one lane and half in the other, which makes it impossible for anyone to try and sneak past. 0:53 Dollies aren't supposed to be braked when being ferried for this exact reason - someone should've told him to only connect the brake release hose.
Technically the car at 7:55 is at fault as trucks are allowed to do that, however it seems it might have been the better choice if the semi was a bit more to the left of the lane straddling the centre of the lane at least a bit, perhaps with the prime mover turned in the direction he was intending to turn.
It seems like a much better option, because who needs the aggravation even if you're in the right.
yeah just found this www.nhvr.gov.au/files/wns-factsheet-turning-v3-4-coles.pdf
Hubby always straddles the line. He's usually got wardens and pilots with traffic shut down but if hauling something "smaller" than his usual windblades, concrete bridge beams etc and solo, he always straddles.
This happened to a family member. Semi turned left from the right lane without indicating with his car already halfway up the far left lane and got his car scraped on the side. No dashcam so fault was theirs but we are pretty sure it wasnt

Weird. I was thinking that this one was mild compared to some recent months!
Population rapidly aging, drug addiction spiralling out of control, more incompetent & untested migrants flooding the country, police struggling to recruit officers so less road rule enforcement. It's just going to keep getting better and better.

pretty common with convertable mercs. Merc dealers charge a fortune. but there are after market kits and fixes. Just many merc owners insist on stealer only. So they'd rather drive around with a busted roof than get it fixed.

The truck is in the right, this is why "Do not overtake while turning" signs exist
Maybe he thought it was decoration
The other half straddles the line if he can so no dickhead tries passing while he turns. Even when empty, his trailer's still usually oversized and he has pilots etc but if hauling something "smaller", he'll straddle. Pretty hard on tighter turns though. All you can do is right lane it, indicate left and hope people will be at least clued in enough to catch on. Surprisingly, most do.

08:00 that truck had every right to make that turn. The car in the right lane broke the law. It’s their fault.
1:04 A brave Holden ute entering the territory that so many utes have gone before it, never to return to the road again
For real though, closely watching it, he was going the same speed as the other car, so my assumption would be given that it’s a wet road, he probably slipped out and lost control.
Had a V6 ute and slid off the side of a ditch on a highway doing 5 km/h at most
There will come a time soon, when the only Holdens you see are at car shows. Just like all the other brands no longer common on our streets.

Also, why does it sound and look like he came off the breaks? I feel like if he'd braked properly, that could have been avoided.
I think the law has to changed so that Dash Cam footage can be used as a source to charge people who drive in an extremely dangerous manner in Australia.
I agree and have been calling for it a long time.

@@turtlesoul So why can't the police use them?
