I'm going through something similar girl. I reached my hair goal . Then I got braids and the braider braided my hair she literally set me up for failure. I got my hair back on track. Then my hormones was acting up which caused low iron. The back of my hair is thick but the crown and front is on the road to recovery.
    Supplements I'm taking
    1. Seamoss
    2. Moringa powder
    3. Natural iron supplement that's high in iron, b12 ,vitamin c.
    Externally
    1. Clay treatment every two week and follow up with sheabutter deep conditioning
    2. Amla, shakiaka, cassia treatment once a month.
Moisturizing with Aloe gel and sheabutter
    3. I also watched a Curly proverbz old video on a strengthing tea and it helped my hair tremendously like the shedding was reduced so much.
Hair recovery is a Journey you have to know what your hair needs.

Thank you for this pertinent information 💁‍♀️ 🙏 well noted. Do you have to get blood work to know you're iron deficient? My hair is shedding a lot...I'm noticing the white bulb on my hair. I did an aphogee protein treatment, followed by a deep conditioner, which reduced the hair fall. I got lemon grass and clove bud essential oils from whole foods, along with vegetable glycerine...I feel like I'm all over the place

Wow it’s such a journey and takes patience and intentionality so I like that you have a plan of attack and I know it will grow back thicker too with all the products you mentioned that help promote hair growth/ density so good luck! You got this!!

Maybe the protective styles ain’t protecting nothing. I let my hair free and I retain constant length.

I personally don’t like my hair out all the time so I don’t mind

My trichologists told me not to wear my hair out all the time. This is based solely on my fragile hair type. There are lots of people who don't need to put their hair in a protective style to have it grow/retain length. Not me, unfortunately.

I don’t know any 4C irl and on UA-cam who has been able to grow hair long without protective style.

@@BelAgeReally, it depends on what u consider “protective style”. If u mean wearing braids w added hair, wigs, and weaves … I seriously doubt whether anyone doing those styles the majority of the time - or *all* of the time, in some instances … I doubt those women are retaining length and doubt they have hair beyond bra strap length. Nevertheless, maybe wearing a “protective style” w fake hair can indeed work if u wear them a few times a year and not leave them in for months & months! Everybody that I know who has long *healthy* hair is doing protective styles only using their own hair (ex. “mini” or small twists, w around 26 or more braids/twists). So much of retaining length is learning about what your hair requires regarding products, different weather conditions, climate u live in, etc. U can’t learn to nourish your hair properly and have it look really cute for various occasions if it’s always wrapped up under weaves, wigs, and braids.

I’ve heard of women using black tea rinses when they’re shedding (lots of women with relaxed hair I think because they have to use lots of protein on their hair) Maybe you can try that. I had been stressed out too and my hair fell out quite a bit, im trying to get it back.
      Best of luck to you
