Flew in a Qantaslink Dash8 (albeit a -400) a few years ago from Townsville to Cairns and the lower flying altitude make for a wonderful scenic trip especially as we flew up over the Great Barrier Reef. The strobing of the props also created some interesting effects in photos taken along the way.
This is wonderful. I am in UK but my favourite radio station is q100 Kenai Alaska, thanks to the Internet. You missed the C-46 Anchorage to Kenai, but I forgive you for such wonderful coverage
So cool! I flew a ravn dash 8 going from anchorage to kenai, I remember the cookie! I’ve also flown on one of ravn’s grand caravans, but I haven’t seen those flying since the pandemic (and when ravn filled for bankruptcy).
I lived in Unalakleet for two years in mid-sixties. The Lockheed Connies used to be our main airplane to Anchorage, and we had an Air Force early warning site up on the mountain you can see the road to it just after taking off I crashed Honda street 90 cycle on that road coming down and was flown to Nome for medical. I was 14 then.
Excellent mini series on Artic aviation plus gorgeous images. Well done, anything similar planned? I'm based in Rabat, Morocco if you are thinking of heading this way. Always happy to help.
The interesting thing to me was to see the ConocoPhillips sign for check-in at ANC. Crazy that they have to have an operation like that to get workers in and out.
Gabriel. Great work as always. With so much scenery, another 5-10 min of it would of been fabulous, if weather allowed. Also culturally curious about who you fly with. Are they locals, business people...what are thay all about? Do you chat much with other pasengers? Thanks again.
Yes sir it's an entirely different world flying up there. I few Aeromagnetic surveys from Point Barrow and Dead Horse to Cordova. Those were the bases, we flew offshore 99.9% of those surveys, not very scenic even at 1,000 Ft. above the water. Also flew on wild fires in central Alaska, beautiful country up there.
I watched this b/c I miss the days of kicking tires on turbo-props. However the reason I'm commenting: at the end there's an airline sign (at this tiny airport) that reads CononcoPhillips. Ironically wild Alaska is sleeping with the devil.
The child's commentary is adorable. Stay safe and happy travels.
i also like the moment when the kids say its a cool plane
The kid stole the moment! 😄 So excited!!
03:09 man I love that sound
Beautiful flight! Absolutely love the Dash-8’s myself, too! ✈️
Wonderful video man! Liked!
What a great soft landing.
good window seat
Thankyou Gabriel for putting together these wonderful Alaskan travelogues. Beautifully shot, interesting and such thoughtful commentary.
Nice flight; cool camera angle.
last time i was in unakakleet was with my dad when he was a pilot for cape smythe. was gravel strips up north

Done this run a few times. Great trip.
I’ve always wanted to ride in one of these. I’ve seen them a lot at Fairbanks intl when I lived there.

does air force early warning station still exists in that little town as of today’s
@@darrenfike924 I think it was shut down many years ago
now us air force will have to reopen it and remodernize it as now china, russia , and even north korea are threatening our country, that’s my opinion

It’s shared services to/from Deadhorse.
@@MooreAvery It's no longer Shared Services. CoP runs their own fleet of Q-400's now.
FIRST !! Hi Gabriel. That sure is "Flying Wild Alaska" if you ask me. I love Alaska content.
I'm already trying to figure out when I can go back! Thanks for saying hi!
@@Flightradar24DotCom So much of the state to see. Maybe a summer trip to the Fairbanks, Purdhoe Bay and/or Utqiagvik? Another world.

So, no mention of Jim Tweeto or ERA?
I too love "High Wing" aircraft! I really I am not cut out for Alaska though.

What awful announcements, too fast and with an accent that is difficult to understand. Try a pre-recorded one please.
