I thought I was the only one :) I know it was easier when everything was brand new BUT how did they do it at the factory ?! Great idea to blast away with the silicone and heat. I found it easier to run the top of the frame into place and then install the rest of the window frame. It seemed that the two rails were not lined up perfectly so a small flex of the top of the window frame made it possible. I'm working on a GPW.

Good idea! Manhandling that thing is a beast. Worst part is I have to do those sides again. You know, cutting them to short.... I'm putting it off as long as I can. Will probably wait til this fall when the cold starts to come on.

If that's an original slit windshield and not reproduction..... you probably could find original ones in older wrecking yards back in the 1960s and 70s most jeepers went to the single one piece glass I believe out of cj3s.... just easier to seal and keep cold &dust/sand out....😂😂😂😂

Yeah, funny you say that because my last jeep build I was convinced to put the CJ3A windshield in it to get the height. Kept having to duck down to see the stop lights at intersections with the original split window. It was more functional but I lost the "Cool Factor".
Also lost that ability to keep the top on and push that window out on the trail while it was raining or snowing. That's quite a feeling. Those windshield wipers suck. That's something I wish someone would improve on. Those individual wiper motor/wipers are the worst.
