- In this video I discuss a recent report out of the city of San Francisco that highlights a business that has suffered a bunch of break ins & has decided to close down forever. Where I live there's no food delivery, there's no stores close, everything is a long drive, except an enterprising man with his BBQ chicken,or beef dinners with 2 sides of either greens, baked beans, coleslaw, or Mac & cheese and a dinner role for $5.00 a plate.
He has a small food truck/camper and grill next to HWY41.
He starts selling at noon and is out of food by 5:00.
Because we live in a REAL FOOD DESSERT!!
We would be happy to have some small food stores that we do not have to drive 15 miles 1 way to get to, yes I moved here because I like living in a rural area, but a few stores in the area would be appreciated.

Years ago, when I was working around the Portland metro area we cane to work one morning to find half our building covered in graffiti. We called a special hotline, cops came and took pictures, then worte us a 'fix it ticket' saying we had a week to cover it up or get fined. I knew back then things were going down hill.

But requiring that graffiti be removed and windows repaired (and other things, like enforcing subway fare evasion laws) was part of the successful "broken windows" policies that preceded the progressive DA era. In an ideal world, the cost would be paid by insurance or the government, not the victim, but pragmatically the "broken windows" policies often did place some responsibility on owners.

Here in L.A. during the height of the covid BS... the city was going around fining businesses $600 for every banner stores had put up that just said "We're Open". They put them up because the city and county had forced them to be closed for months and they were desperate for any business they could get. So the city fined them. Because, a city that has homeless people shitting in the street and garbage everywhere, supposedly can't tolerate a temporary banner. Of course, that wasn't it... They just wanted to make money off people who had already been tortured for months.

Also, if you use a gun to defend yourself, you will be treated like a criminal with the full force of "law" brought against you. The Red Flag laws further undermine your ability to defend yourself because if someone knows that you have a gun and objects, all they need do is tell the police that you have a firearm and that they "feel" threatened when in your presence. The police will show up at your door fully armed like a swat team, remove your guns, shoot you if you resist, jail you if you do not comply, and the judge will hold your firearm/firearms for a minimum of 5 years at which time you must prove / demonstrate to the judge and possibly to the one complaining that you are NOT a threat. Before the law, you are guilty until proven innocent. You can be talking about baseball, but if the person - usually a favored minority - feels threatened or says that she or he is, the CA Red Flag law is enforceable on you. California hit that point many years ago. If I wanted, I could fly into California, rent a hotel without paying, eat out at any restaurant without paying. Steal from any store without paying. Take any car, crash it and walk away. And I’d have almost no real consequences to my actions! Most people don’t do this because they have morals and ethics. For those outside CA, please know LA and bay area are the woke hell pits.
Much of the state is rural and beautiful (and more conservative than most think).
Sacramento is the same. The city gave a heavy fine to a landlord when the tenant grew marihuana in the house. The State law says that it is illegal for a landlord to go into his/her house without permission from the tenant.
This also happened in Kenosha. Just one example: There was a salon that was firebombed & burned beyond repair. Before even notifying the owner, the city declared it an unsafe structure due to the damage, and a demolition firm that just happened to be owned by the mayor's best friend was hired to demolish what remained of the building, and sent the owner a bill for $200,000 for the demolition. Her insurance had a limit of $50,000.

@@Matt-yg8ub I don't know about this specific story, but I did hear similar stories. The cost is high because in that city they consider burned materials to be toxic waste which require more specialization and thus more cost to haul away and take care of.
If it was me, I would take that $50k, walk off with it, tell the city to shove that $200k bill up their ass and move out of the city and even the state for good.

I'm a 911 EMT in a major city in California. The other day we responded to a call where a bicyclist got hit by a car. Car sped away. We were called to treat the bicyclist. Fortunately there was no injury. However, the cops who arrived on the scene literally ticketed the bicyclist for not having proof of car insurance on their person. He said just show proof and the ticket will go away. But I literally couldn't believe that hit and run driver was on the loose, and the cops decided to ticket the victim of that hit and run. I almost wanted to say something but I knew I had to keep my mouth shut.

@@YThatesfreespeech1 They are exempt from most gun control laws and can also rely on their fellow blue line gang members to actually do their jobs when they call, unlike the citizens who are defenseless and ignored. The politicians pass these policies and police enforce them for the same reason: they know it won't negatively impact them.
All cops care about is "officer safety" and it's far safer to ticket or arrest a law-abiding citizen than go after a real criminal who might resist. They are being trained to go after citizens because they're less likely to fight back.

The penalty for stupidity can be pretty high. It'll take a long time to reverse the damage the politicians in California have done. Even if they did a total 180 (which they're not), you can't expect the culture to change overnight.

"Crime causes poverty" and "Poverty causes crime" are not mutually exclusive. This is really true in a place like San Fransisco, where honest people lose jobs but criminals make money. It can become a feedback loop.

This happened where I worked in May, a small group of stunning and brave future scholars and scientists put on identity concealing apparel (including enclosed headpieces), stole a pickup truck, and rammed the door at full speed totaling it. It's still in the process of being replaced months later, the culprits were never caught, the owner's truck is totaled, and those are costs we just have to eat up.
Our house burned down in a California wild fire, and the county forced us to clean up what they determined to be hazardous, within a certain amount of time, or pay a fine.
I would never, ever, ever go to San Francisco, or Seattle, or Portland, at this point.
Real justice needs to happen for all the victims of BLM supporters and these other thieves and grifters. On a personal level. The police and judicial system won’t do it so we have to. Whatever it takes

If you're in that unfortunate group and things have gotten this bad, I think most people will tell you to resort to your last method of voting. Vote with your feet. There's a reason the median house price in Detroit is only $13k.

We had friends in a Red city in a Purple state that owned a golf shop. Their kids did not want it, so when they had to retire they closed it. The Red city government levied a large tax on them, as if closing your business was going to be a huge profit for the former owners.

Cement a large thick steel reinforced concrete flower pot barrier as a camouflage in front of the door and windows for small shops and stores. Stores that are within parking areas add additional large speed bumps leading to exits and design you parking as to make it difficult for cars to speed and get away.
At this point anyone living,...or doing business in San Francisco only has themselves to blame. I have 0 sympathy for either.
